  1. Anyone know why Coach Jones chose to keep his starters in up until 2 minutes left in the game with them up by nearly 30? This was a poor performance from WV and GC definatley did not work hard to win this one..

I didn't think he had all of the starters in together at that point, but I would imagine it was because Walton can go on a 3 point shooting run and it is better to be safe than sorry.

  2. That is one of the attributes of this team. Keeping their emotions in check. I remarked several times the last few nights that the Gallatin players will hardly ever change expression during the game.

Even during the 17-1 run there was no chest bumping, arm waving to the crowd. Heck, I don't ever think they cracked a smile. It was just like business as usual.

I know a peewee football coach that always told his team. "Play like you've been there. If you score a touchdown, no need to celebrate, just give the ball back to the ref, like you've been there 100 times, business as usual".:thumb:

  3. I just have to say that the coaches and the players did a wonderful job tonight to turn things around in the second half. If any of you have not seen Gallatin play, you really should come and watch this group of boys play. I have watched alot of basketball in my life and I have never seen a team play like this Gallatin team. They play to win for their coaches ,their fans, but most importantly for each other.

There were many other team coaches there tonight scouting. And one group of coaches said to me. "Now that was a good ol' Country a_ _ whooin. right there"

I still have a smile on my face :-) way to go Comeback Cats!

    What do you think?

  5. Well said I think the record speaks for its self. I think the talent at Walton under a different coach would go alot further. It pains me to say this but a coach like Jones in Gallatin could have done so much more with the past teams at Walton.

Spilly, I agree, I have seen many of these boys play ball through the years on AAU and BCPWFL and there have been some talented athletes.

  6.

    Coach Bennett's Career at WV

1998- 6-13 and wins came against teams with combined record of 48-78

    1999- 11-13 " " " 49-136(1 team had wiining record)

    2000- 9-19 67-115(3 teams had winning record)

    2001- 7-21 70-112(no team had winning record)

    2002- 12-17 105-137(4 teams had winning record)

    2003- 22-6 114-213(3 teams had winning records) Final 4 Class A State

    2004- 17-11 122-178(4 teams had winning records)

    2005- 8-15 52-107(no team had winning record)

    2006- 15-12 71-151(no team had winning record)

2007- 7-7 25-65(Owen only team to this point with winning record)

    Career 114-134

I am not certain I follow what you are trying to say by the winning record statements here. I know that in all the years I highlghted Gallatin County had winning records. So what is your point saying this?

  7. Gallatin will need this homecourt advantage to beat WV, but in the end I think they can do it. Good Luck Wildcats!!!

Are you serious??? Gallatin beat WV in their home floor, and was missing a very good player(J Carlton) in that game. Home court advantage has me thinking Gallatin beats Walton Verona by 20+... especially after seeing them play tough this past weekend in the Lloyd Memorial tourney.

  8. Thanks for clarifying. Also, remember that Walton has a freshman that is contributing much more now than when they played earlier in the season. I still think Gallatin will win, just don't overlook Walton.

I'm going to go ahead and predict on the Gallatin/Walton game. With both teams at full strength I'm going to say:

    GC: 84

    WV:59

It's only a 25 point spread because of gallatins "homecourt advantage" and not simply being better than walton.
