  1. I don't know why some would talk about losing to a good Anderson team on the 2nd night of two consecutive tough games is not a good thing. Gallatin just got worn out as was evident by their shots falling short. Anderson is a good team and played a hard fought game. IMO you only beat a team like Anderson County once a season... I'll take a victory in March over a victory in December any day. :D

  2. The difference in this game IMO was Gallatin's defense in the second half. When the Cats turned up the pressure, the (young) Panthers wilted. I would have liked to hear what Coach Jones said to his players at halftime to get them so fired up on defense. Congrats to the Panthers for playing so hard to keep this game as close as they did.

I don't think coach Jones had to say much at all to get them fired up. There were times in the first half that the coaches put the freshman in to play. Gallatin knew they could beat this team by 30 if they wanted and so they put the pressure on in the second half to get the job done.:thumb:

  3. That's exactly right, I these four teams to produce some great basketball come February and March!

Has any of you even seen Gallatin Play? I couldn't believe these posts when I looked at this thread. I pick Gallatin by 15+ over Carroll. Carroll out running Gallatin is laughable:laugh::laugh::laugh:

  4. Ryan is a really good little point guard, its a shame he plays at such a small school though.

Heritage has had a knack for producing extremely good guards, but failed to have a winning program. I dont know how good Ryan is, but some of his predeccessors Did/Are great at the college level. Ex: Jackson Capel

  5. It would have made a difference because Walton would of got at least two free throws and the ball. He is always good for one in these games.

About like a certain big man for walton last year... :D :sssh:

But Carlton could have made the game much different. Henson had a field day on the boards and if Carlton was there, He would have cleaned up most of the missed bunnies that Henson couldnt get to.

  6. Thank you! Totally agree. Everyone is saying that Gallatin was down, and wasn't to their full talent and skill but Walton-Verona is a solid team.!. You can't just say Gallatin is so much better. Just wait to the rematch to see who's better then!

I can prove to you that gallatin was down. Carlton did not play tonight. There is atleast 10 points stopped on defense, and 10 points or more on made on offense.

  7. Okay, Kirk didn't hit shots like normal, but he did hit some key threes. He's the only one on that team, that will keep shooting. After Jones air balled that one three early. He thought about all his other shots. Which he shouldn't do. Jones' is the best shooter on the team. Martin kept the game close. He was all over the place. And Kirk battled just fine down low. He was out sized and out skilled in the post. Kirk isn't use to playing down low yet. Give him some time. And Ponzer, yeah he has solid 'd' but sometimes, he got out of control. He tried to do to much. Walton is better with him on the floor, but sometimes I wonder why he tried to split through the whole Gallatin's D. Harper, played good though when he had to fill for ponzer. Took ball to the rim well.

#30 Henson has started out the year for Gallatin tough. He is still rusty from football too, if he would have hit all of his shots it would have been a different game. He probably had more rebounds than points. Walton had no answer for him, but I know Kirk worked really hard. There are other teams out there that have much bigger kids in the post than Henson, so Kirk will have his hands full.

  8. I would like to comment on the referees just a bit.. Still do not know how many fouls were called in the game, but I am guessing about 50 or so... Did any of you pay admission to watch them call the game?? I paid to watch the kids play ball, and play they did!

I kept thinking through the game that if this was game was officiated by the crew that had the Scott Co./Gallatin game, there may have been 7-8 fouls called the whole game. Certainly there would have been no players in foul trouble! JMO I guess...

  9. I actually felt bad last night for some of the Walton Players. Several were crying and I went to one of them, who played the post postion and told him what a good game he had and he was very polite and said "Thank you Mam." You could really tell they gave all they had. I always tell my son."If you give it all you got, than there is no regret."

    Way to play hard Walton.

    Congrats Gallatin on the Win!
