  1. They won't have much time to goof around anyway...they will be too busy at practice. Boy, life was so easy back then!!
  2. I'm with you two on this one. Powell County has had a great season, but unfortunately the will be facing a very tough opponent is South Laurel. I just don't think Powell County has the talent to match up with South Laurel. But as Bad Cat stated..I will be fine with being wrong in this one!
  3. The games are at 5pm and 7:30..does anyone know who plays first! I gotta see the Eagles VS the Bobcats! That will be a good one!
  4. from Owsley there was Robert Smith, Jason Bowling, and Thomas McIntosh.
  5. I think it is some really good kids who are willing to work on playing the game of baseball. EARLE is really up on his knowledge of Owlsey baseball. My brother would be happy to know that someone remembered his efforts when he played for the Owls.
  6. His arm must be in good shape to be able to throw that often. I really hope he takes good care of it, because he is a good athlete.
  7. I have a stop watch that I use, just like every other coach should. He was bringing it at Owsley County, so I'm sure he was bringing it at Knott County too. I do have a radar gun, but it is hard to use while I am coaching third base.
  8. The Stamper kid can play. He pitched against Owsley Co, and was throwing in the 80's the entire time he pitched. Obviously the Wolves can play ball. They are a team to watch. :sssh:
  9. That's all you have to do.....keep the hitter's off balance. Neeley is just smart enough to understand that principle. That's what makes him good! I sometimes think he knows the game better than I do! He is extremely smart!
  10. Jason Bowling always "kills" the ball, and Daniel Neeley is one of the toughest outs in the region. If you get him out, you have done something! Daniel can flat out hit the baseball.
  11. News flash....we were at practice last week and Robert Smith decides to try and hit left handed...He proceeds to "kill" the ball left handed. I was upset since I was just now finding out that he could switch hit, which makes him WAY more dangerous as a hitter. The Owls also have the EXO bat, and it has made a huge impact already.
  12. I'm just glad it is all over with. Now we can get back to playing baseball, and I can earn my HUGE salary! :thumb:
  13. Once again, just my opinion....I am not looking at it from the School Board side, and I am not a teacher, so it is possible that I am wrong. I just like to see the kids play ball.
  14. As far as the 4-H thing, I'm sure there are students who will be present at the 4-H meeting. What is the difference? Also, we can practice during test week....The only difference in practice and games is the fact that the teams will have their uniforms on while playing. Practice will even go longer sometimes than a game will. I wouldn't do that, but they could.
  15. Other schools seem to do fine on these tests, and they still play ball. Are there other problems that may need to be addressed?? I can see your point Ladiesbballcoach, but I just don't agree. I am far from perfect, and can admit if I am wrong, so what I say doesn't mean anything unless you make it mean something. Sorry to shake the school up, but it's just what I think. Nothing else.
  16. It doesn't mean anything if I don't agree with the school board on this decision. I'm sure a lot of people don't agree with a lot of decisions the school board makes. Don't take it personal, I am not attacking anyone, I just don't agree with the decision. And for the people who know me, they know I will let you know if I don't agree with something. (as should everyone)
  17. I wonder what time the kids will be in bed tonight after the 4H banquet that lasts till 8:30pm. I believe I could get an entire baseball game in by 8pm if I start at 5pm. I don't get it, but people must be concerned about it because this thread is getting a lot of attention. I'm just glad that this is still America, and that I can say what I feel. Oh, and the umpires showed up yesterday, and I'm sure they will want to be paid.
  18. We had to cancel two HOME games on Monday (today) and Tuesday. One of those games is a district game. I am not going reschedule either of the games, as far as I'm concerned the Superintendant can handle it. All they did is take two games away from the Senior baseball players!
  19. The school is still allowing other after school activities during this week. I'm not too happy about it. They knew these tests were scheduled for this week a LONG time ago. Now we have to call other teams to break the news to them that we can't play. Try to reschedule a game in mid season (not an easy task). Anyway Buckman44SS said it the best...can you imagine it being scheduled in basketball or football season. THEY WOULD STILL PLAY!! It is a sad day for the baseball players!
  20. Is anyone else having problems with this. Apparently the major state tests are taking place next week, and Owsley County's Superintendant is making all of the sporting events cancel all of their games. Anyone else having this problem, or is it just an Owsley Co issue?
  21. I am in the process of contacting KY Sports Medicine right now for Bowling. I truly believe he just stained it. He did catch last night, and was just a little sore. He knows he has more important things than a Lee vs Owsley game. The kid will play at the next level. Thanks for the concern.
  22. Jason did "tweak" his arm, and will have it checked out soon. Of course he wants to play against Lee Co, so we will have to see how he is throwing later on today. He has never had any arm troubles before, so I don't think it is anything major. Thanks for the concern!
  23. You are smarter than the average "cat". I can assure you that Lee will not score on Owsley like they did in the ALL A. They will have to do it against one of our best pitcher's. Not our 4 starter. It will be a better game than people think. Thanks for the vote of confidence though. I will see you there on Tuesday.
