Why was the Coach of the Year not renewed? Admittedly, there were rumors early on about some unidentified issues, which seemed hard to believe with how well they were playing.

I think you are clear to coach now at all times except the dead period. Used to be limited to conditioning and open gyms in off season, but that was changed /rescinded.

Could Bullitt East finally end the run of losing to Butler in the regional? I think I read 5 straight years?

Passtheball - How can SHA go from playing right with Etown to what is now a strange mini spiral downwards? CAL is a nice team but not at an elite level by any stretch. (Still continue to hear rumblings of their coach being too strict/hot head in practice/bad communicator, although that is hard to believe given their record and victories). Like Bestshooter, I also wonder how their press, which is token at best, gave SHA trouble?

Interesting on Rice - not a long term solution by any stretch due to age and purportedly asked to leave CAL. Resume good on paper, but how much of the success was Slaughter and Marsh/really no big success even in the later Dow years.

I think coach means Rice is a finalist for South.

No, South Oldham is currently interviewing. Hearing that Shelby person might be a former head coach, but not sure.

Crazy/SportsLady - any updates on South Oldham/did they find the coveted teacher with experience coaching 2nd grade girls 10 years ago? (couldn't resist).

Very sad to not look for the best coach. The 'in the building' requirement is somewhat antiquated given modern day communications and the fact that most paraprofessionals are accessoble as needed - otherwise they would not have time to coach in the first place. And retro, there may be 20 great applicants that are being ignored since not teachers in the needed subjects. Very short sighted and now lost the month of June pre dead period.

Any word on South Oldham search?

Amy Siegel hired at Assumption. Played at Assumption and Bellarmine and has been in college coaching for 8-10 years including a 2 year stint at Bellarmine. Mostly an assistant but did head coach St. Joseph's for 2 seasons. Most recently an assistant at Spalding.

Doubters are already firmly in place, trust me. He got a pass of sorts this past year (although the team should have been a true state contender), so he needs to take it to the next level this season. Of course, how you define the 'next level' is key, because Trinity is at a much different, elite level and is not returning to earth any time soon. Nagel Sr. leaving the staff made a difference in Nagel Jr.'s performance, but we'll see if they can get the offensive consistency mentioned by the earlier post.
