I couldn't see blaming the coaches either though. They don't have magic dust to make kids great in a year. From what I know, it would be more feasable to blame the coaches of the previous programs who discouraged intrest in the sports. It is my understanding that the football teams from all 3 schools didn't have a mandatory or even organized weight program. Teens for the most part don't think about long term and arent gonna bust their butts in the off season unless they are pushed to do so. In the case of basketball, current coaching decisioins led to dissention in the county. Until the people of the county lose the "Jerry Springer Show" attitude, nothing will be accomplished.

from what I hear all but one pike co school will get new turf. Any guesses which one??

LCC by 15. I think they are hitting on all 5 right about now. Lot of controversy and interior probs throughout the season, but from what I hear and have been able to see, looks like they are ironing them out. :ylsuper:

#4 on the list-Cam Wright should be higher up. TOp 5 in the state rebounding. One of the best scorers. You are right. Not enough attention. Some NAIA college is gonna end up getting a solid Div II player (at least).

Cam Wright is averaging 13 boards per game. Would put him 2 or 3 in state right now. His fg% and PPG are also very high. I heard Pikeville is looking, I think he could probably play at least one division higher though.

I don't really understand why that Wright kid from LCC isn't getting more attention. How many double doubles has he had this year??

What ever became of Steve Hart?? Is he coaching anywhere else or still teaching at the grove??

I have heard that Powell Co. would be moving up to 3A. Anyone got some facts or info on that?

I used to like playing att the old Fleming-Neon Field. None of that sissy artificial stuff it was 100% pure rocks and glass.

If this is the Same Bill Mason that played Ball at Campbelsville, it sounds like he has changed a lot. 1. How many coaches don't chew or dip? very few I bet 2. IT's a BOURBON festival for goodness sakes JK. I bet if it was a little farther north in Catholic land, it woldn't be a problem. Of course, I don't know the extent or behavior of Coach Mason. Just random thoughts. 3. Define harrass. Used to be you had to hit a fella to be charged with assault, and a drty joke was just in poor taste, not sexual assault. 4. Drugs are real-is this a suprise???? 5. Many of us are guilty of the language now and then. We were raised on it from out coaches (Certainly not at C-Ville though!!) Once again, I don't know the extent. 6. How many coaches have had to bend rules? especially in places with small numbers. I hate it, but sometimes you gotta do what is best for the kid, sometimes for the team, sometimes they aren't the same thing. 7. I don't really understand the whole alarm thing???? I am not taking sides, or anything, but in all reality, how many coaches are guilty of more than one thing on this list. Not saying it should be overlooked, and I don't even know to what extent Coach mason carried out these acts, Just rambling my thoughts. For what it's worth (not much).

It's gotta be a really narrow minded coach that promotes only their sport. Is that person really looking out for the best interest of the student?

Heard a rumor that all Pike co. schools are getting turf (excluding Phelps).

To say the choice comes from the site base is a joke. You must not know how it is at Valley or for that much In PIKE COUNTY! I have "made my rounds" in different districts. In my experience, the Site Base has had minimal, if any influence on coaches and staff selection. If you are the one they want, there will be no interview, and someone else fills out your paperwork. It is a good idea on paper, and SBDM does do a lot, but it still isn't strong enough in most places to break through that good ol boy system. Not saying it's right or wrong, I have been on both sides of that hiring fence, just telling y'all what I seen!!

I didn't start this thread as a means to trash Pike County. I was just wondering what names were in the hat. Anyone want to talk about that??

Any idea who might step in here? I am hearing Ben Howard as a possible candidate.
