Twitter has been a pretty comical place to be since the Realmuto and Barnhart talk started. I always love the fans that hang onto a solid year or two and think they know more about the situation than the guys paid the big bucks to do it (even though sometimes we might).
Bottom line, Realmuto is one of the best in the game. Barnhart is a great defensive catcher, but Realmuto would be an all around improvement. The one gripe we've all had with this team is the lack of attempts at improvement. If you want to be a contender you look and listen to all possibilities of improving your team, even if you have a gold glove fan favorite at a position already.
If you can pull Realmuto to Cincy without breaking the prospect bank and then spin Barnhart to LA (who needs a catcher badly) for Puig and Wood, you absolutely do it! Wood is an upgrade in the rotation and adding Puig to play in the small CF at GABP is an upgrade as well. Realmuto and Puig added to this lineup is great too. Yes the Reds were good offensively, but two more solid bats provide that much more protection for Suarez and Votto, things a lot of fans never think about. It also allows Winker to go back to what he is most comfortable with which is being a high batting average and below average power hitter.
The other thing I love about all the talk is Realmuto is only controlled 2 more years, and Puig and Wood are only through this year. Why do I love that? It means the Reds would be going after right now. No more farting around talking about potential and next year, not to mention I think you have a real chance of locking up Realmuto and Puig longterm. Puig will love hitting at GABP and Realmuto could see the win now mentality in Cincy and the trust in building a revamped pitching staff around him.
It is being said that it is Kemp and Wood, not Puig and Wood in the trade talks with the Reds. However, in that deal the Dodgers would take Bailey's contract because it would save them money against the luxury tax.

Reds get Tanner Roark from Nationals for Tyler Rainey. Didn’t get much, but didn’t give up much. One of the most durable starting pitchers in the game. Not a bad option at the back of the rotation or in the pen if need be.He’s an innings eater. If he can limit his BBs, he should be a solid back end addition.
Back of the rotation? He had almost the exact same ERA last season as the Reds #1 starter. His ERA was better than every Reds starter save Castillo and his FIP was better than them all. Until, and unless, the Reds make a big move he's their #2.

So you guys are saying that if Notre Dame goes 11-1 and the teams on their 2018 schedule are playing at a level that they usually play at then they wouldn't have the resume to get in the playoffs? In most years 5-7 of the teams on their schedule would be ranked with no FBS teams on there. That's as strong as anyone's schedule.
-
I finally quit. I tried to watch episode 1 of this season but didn't get through it. It's terrible.
Whatever will we do? You always add such unique insights about the show. I guess we'll have to copy and paste one. We could pick any. They are all the same.
I just finished the first half of the season. It's not been great but it is an improvement over the last 2-3 years.

Greene will be nursing a sprained UCL next year at what 20? Kluber and Bauer are proven. You wouldn’t take a Cy Young winner for a prospect?
Worked out well for the Red Sox. They traded two elite prospects for Sale. Moncada and Kopech was a high price to pay. I have a feeling they don't regret it.
-
With their offense it doesn't really matter who they have on the mound. Still a ton of money for a guy with a career ERA north of 4 and major past health issues.
He seemed to have found something with his change in technique this past season. He's got one of the highest spin rates and average velocity in the league. If he's healthy they paid #3 or #4 money for a #2.
-
Saw something around $67.5M over 4 years....That's a lot of coin for a guy who's had such difficulties staying healthy.
But if he's healthy Sale, Price, Eovaldi, Porcello and Rodriguez is a heck of a rotation backed by that offense.
-
The Red Sox have reportedly resigned Nathan Eovaldi pending a physical. Terms have not been disclosed.

This team is really young and will get better as this year goes on. I can see when Smith and Hotchkiss return, this team will surprise some people.
Somerset is really young as well. They only have 1 senior and 1 junior in the normal rotation. Walker is the only senior on the roster.

Bad news for the Reds. In an already stacked NL Central, the Cardinals have acquired Paul Goldschmidt for Luke Weaver, Carson Kelly, Andy Young, and a competitive balance draft pick.

Penn State will win big.
Then why did you vote for Kentucky in the poll?
-
Cool.
I mean, I think you have to hope Senzel is at least an average centerfielder for that to work at all, right? If Schebler has to play center it's a disaster defensively.
-
I think the initial hope is Senzel can do it.
I wouldn't mind seeing them make a run at AJ Pollack in Free Agency though.
Winker-Senzel-Schebler sounds like the worst defensive outfield in the league. Hopefully they hit enough to make up for it.

OSU beat ND’s best two wins by twice the amount of points. Hitching your wagon to the Irish, bold move RTS.
But the Irish managed to not lose to any of the mediocre teams on their schedule. So there's that.

The game should be irrelevant now except for the Big 10 crown.

I bet you next year he plays baseball for someone else and steals 40 bases.
And does so while putting up a sub .300 OBP with zero pop. If it is with a good team he'll get those steals as a pinch runner/ defensive replacement. Because that is what he is on a good team.

We all are well aware of the answer to this question, but I ask it anyway.
The Bengals started the year 4-1... They have won one game since then, and that was because Winston got confused which jersey he was wearing.... how is Marvin Lewis still the coach today?
Unless you think his successor is already on the staff why does it matter if he's fired now or after the season? It isn't like they need to get a jump on recruiting or anything.

45 had breather
Was he not on the field for the other 350 yards of offense that they have up. Somerset moved the ball up and down the field. Mayfield has scored 200 more points this season than Somerset. They will move the ball and put up points vs CAL.

Babers reached out to Louisville.
That surprises me. Not that Louisville is not a good job. But I don't know that it is that much better than Syracuse, especially since they're in the same division. I could see it if he were moving away from Clemson and FSU. There's evidently something he likes about UL and I don't think it would be money. If I'm the Cardinals I'm not so sure I wouldn't want him over Brohm.
-
The backup qb will do just fine he won in his only start earlier this year.
Given that they only beat Memphis by one point earlier and had to do that in a shootout his match for error looks to be pretty small.
-
Whether Jeff Brohm comes or not will depend on if UL wants to pony up the money. I think Neal Brown or Mike Norvell would be good hires. Dino Babers has been mentioned, but seems this is his first good year. Whoever the coach is can only take UL up because at rock bottom now.
Unless they just overpay for him , I don't see Babers making a lateral move to UL.

If and that’s a big IF, the Cubs get involved, it’ll include some big league, cost controlled guys.
It will. About 2-3 and at least a couple of big time prospects. The Mets want a king's ransom for him.
