The Dodgers had been 54-0 this season when they led a gaffe by at least 4 runs before last night.

I think I saw somewhere that Hill told him he was getting tired the inning before.
He did. Here's what Roberts had to say about it:
“He said, ‘Keep an eye on me. I’m going to give it everything I have. Let’s go hitter to hitter and just keep an eye on me.’ ” Roberts said of Hill in his postgame press conference, as transcribed by ASAP Sports. “So right there, I know Rich did everything he could, competed, left everything out there.”

Why, oh why, did the Dodgers take out Rich Hill? Had a one hit shutout, leading 4-0, and had thrown 90 pitches.
He had pitched great. However, so season the Red Sox lineup had been death on pitchers the 3rd time through the lineup. I'm sure that had something to do with it. It's just so hard to shut that lineup down.

The Red Sox trailed 4-0 after 6 innings. They got 3 in the 7th on a 3 run pinch hit homer by Mitch Moreland of Ryan Madson. Steve Pearce tied it up with a solo shot of off Kenley Jansen in the 8th and then the Sox exploded for 5 in the 9th. The Dodgers used 7 pitchers and all 7 were charged with at least 1 earned run. And Manny Machado remains a punk.

Which begs the question, “Why doesn’t he return punts all the time?”
I'm sure Coach Hood would love to have him back there returning punts full-time. I'm guessing it isn't up to him.

Great win. I'm glad they finally realized that C.J. Conrad is on their team. That was the softest prevent defense by Mizzou that I've ever seen. I'd still leave Eddie Gran in Columbia.
-
Now if we would have kicked a FG last possession we could be trying the game right now.
What would lead you to think that they could get 3 yards on 1 play to tie it?

When your QB can’t throw more than 8 yards down field teams just end up stacking the box. Snell has no chance.
He throws the ball 40 yards downfield very well... on 30 yard patterns.

With 3 touchdowns in their last 12 quarters plus an overtime I think we can officially declare this UK offense as anemic.

Nuñez has taken a beating tonight like Nordberg in The Naked Gun.

Dude deserves the chair.
Dude deserves to be driven right down to the neighborhood where he tried to enter the church and released. Let them take care of it. But I suppose the needle will have to do.

The Red Sox now have 31 RBIs in this post season with 2 outs and runners in scoring position. The record is 36 by the 2004 Red Sox. The 1997 Indians had 33 and the 2007 Red Sox had 31.

2 out hits are again the Red Sox calling card.
Here's a short article explaining how their approach at the plate might be responsible for that:

When I first read that I thought you meant the little curly haired Cora, I was confused for a bit! :lol2:
If she were managing the team they'd have already wrapped up the Series. She runs a tight ship.

And their oft-maligned bullpen was dominant again. Cora has done a masterful job with them. The way he has manipulated the matchups and filled in with starters has helped turn what was supposed to be an achilles heel into a strength.

That win gave the Red Sox 100 postseason wins. They became the 4th team to win 100 in the postseason.

Red Sox find a way to win again. Last night they slugged their way to a win. Tonight it was pitching. Just need 2 more.

First pinch hit homerun in a Game 1 since Kirk Gibson in 1988. That was huge. I was afraid that one was going to get away.

David Price exorcised the last of his post season demons. Steve Pearce (2), Mookie Betts and J.D. Martinez hit homers and Chris Sale closed it out by fanning Machado.
Alex Cora was stellar again tonight as he has been all season.
This was just a special team. They dispatched a pair of 100 win teams in the playoffs, went 11-3 overall and 7-1 on the road.
Just a great ballclub.
This never gets old.
