  1. If he really wanted to kill himself there are alot more sure fire ways to do it than taking pain killers. This is a classic example of a guy who has to be in the spotlight.

The main thing I'm seeing is the fact that he only took 5 pills, I believe is what the story said... I'm no expert, but in the classic attemped suicide by OD cases, they generally take a lot more than 5 pills.

  2. The problem with boycotting CITGO is...... Not everyone is going to do it.... Sure, you'd be able to gather some participants... A couple million TOPS. But what about the rest of the country? Not all of them use CITGO, so that'd help a little bit..

But then, they'd lower their prices because they would be losing money, and soon enough people that had not regularly used CITGO before would flock to them to get the most for their money.. And it's completely possible that they could turn that boycott in a complete 180 and make a profit from it.

  3. Does anyone know what kinda agreements these guys have in the contracts, like if suspended by the league for a season, do they lose all pay? If not they should, ALLL of it. That's what's getting them into trouble it's the money...

I personally find it extremely hard to believe that they could get away with taking all their pay without getting into a HUGE union battle...

  4. My opinion on the matter has nothing to do with my like or dislike of the Bengals, but at some point all this has got to come to a stop. If you feel you can go on without the players, then do so... And even if you don't, it's worth a try. Nothing short of a year long suspension (at the very least, IMO) is going to do anything to these guys, and maybe not even that would work.

I just hope they all get their heads together...Such promising careers, I don't want to see them ruined by something so stupid.

  5. Plus I don't remember making divorce illegal has ever been a campaign topic.

Which is exactly what my post was getting at... It would be so unheard of for any politician to go with a "make divorce illegal" campaign, that it will never happen... Because it would lose more votes than it would gain.

  6. OK, I'll bite. Those who campaign on a pro-life platform tend to say they are that way because of religious or moral reasons, right? It seems to me the only other reason for an ardent pro-life politician to be that way would be to get votes.

So, if they are pro-life/anti-abortion because of religious or moral issues, shouldn't they also be anti-divorce? I mean, you know, if the "moral fiber" of the country is in as much danger as some pose it to be, it should be their moral obligation to try to stamp out divorce, right? Especially given how divorce rips apart families at a roughly 50 percent rate that homosexuality could never dream of achieving, even if the number of homosexuals in this country were tripled.

I'm inclined to agree with you on this.

But just to dig a little deeper, it's because a great deal of these conservatives come over to the middle ground (or even more to the liberal side) more than some of them may want you to believe, and yes it goes the other way too. Personally, I once considered myself a hardcore liberal. Now, the more I think about things, I still have a great deal of issues that I'm quite liberal over, and then there's also some that I'm conservative on... Too many conservative feelings for me to consider myself a liberal, but hardly enough for me to say I'm conservative.

I can imagine that a great deal of politicians fall into that category, but are afraid of the votes that they'll lose by admitting their real feelings on issues, as opposed to embracing the votes that they would gain... And I can understand that in a way.

In conclusion to this post I've been writing that probably doesn't even make sense, most (if not all) politicians these days are in favor of divorce, and something we've grown to accept. If one of those guys came out and said "I am 100% against divorce" the majority would think he was a nut and he wouldn't get the vote. It's my opinion that the rare breed that actually are against divorce just don't say anything about it unless they are probed... A "don't ask, don't tell" situation.

That post probably made no sense, but I've been up for well over 24 hours so cut some slack.

  7. Steelers got off to a hot start, but the Bengals really came to life after that INT.

The blocked FG was also big... The D is making all the necessary plays, and the O is doing their job also. Parker is the only major threat I've seen for the Steelers O so far, but I'm just barely paying attention as all my hardcore thinking goes towards dreading work. :D
