  1. That's not how I read it. You can't do any "organized or semi-organized activity where school personnel are involved". As long as you're not using school facilities/equipment, uniforms and your coaches aren't there (or organizing it)or being informed of performance, you should be free to workout as you please.

The whole purpose of the Dead Period that the KHSAA has put in place is to prevent groups from gathering, in my opinion. If there are student-athletes (more than 2 at a time) "gathering" to do workouts/condition ("practice") they are defeating the purpose and basically saying they are above the suggested policy put in place.

I don't think it matters where it is, if players are getting together in groups of 3 or more they are in violation in my opinion.

  2. You're speaking out of both sides of your mouth, so to speak. I've saw may times where this call was changed along with numerous other type calls. Usually the ref that has the best view point wins out. I don't know of one coach who likes to see a call go against him anytime. Why would the assigning secretary be any more upset with an over ruling on the charge call than other call?

If you’ve seen a blarge and one official’s call “wins out” over the other after a conference, the crew screwed up.

I think the assignor would rather them own up to their lack of communication than go against what the rule book says.

  3. So if the refs agree to agree, the call still can't be changed?

If that's done (and I've seen it done) it infuriates one coach, but really infuriates the assigning secretary.

There are cases where officials can get together and discuss what happened first. For example when there's simultaneous whistles, one with a travel and one with a foul. Typically one led to the other and the officials can get together and determine that.

With a blarge, that contact happened at one moment and one official saw it one way and the other saw it another way.

This is prevented with good communication and doing what is called "yielding to the primary."

  4. I was at Lane’s End, and I was told Shug is really confident about Code of Honor.

Glad I'm just now seeing this! Lol

Wow, what a beautiful place Santa Anita Park is! If you ever have the chance, go and don't even think about it.

You can fly direct to LAX now out of SDF. Easy flight.

As for the races, I did okay Friday, but great Saturday. Had 5 winners (Covfefe, Mitole, Uni, Bricks and Mortar and Vino Rosso). No real longshots obviously, but more than doubled my money.

The other highlight of the trip was eating at In-N-Out for the first time. The Double-double was just what the doctor ordered after a day at the track. :D

  5. Mojito’s in Holiday Manor shopping center off of Brownsboro Road. Seafood croquettes, vegetarian flatbread, garlic shrimp, deep fried calamari and olives. Very tasty.

    Love that place.

    They have awesome paella!
