  1. From what I understand, EVERY school in KY will have a geographical region that they can receive students. Along with this, schools (public and private) will not be able to reach over state lines to get students into their schools. As for students jumping county lines, I have not heard anything about that.

Also, I understand the viewpoint of each of you and I respect that opinion. I just want you all to know what is going to be brought to the table at the next KHSAA meeting. If there is something you do not agree with, be sure to let someone in a higher place than myself know about it.

  2. In the next meeting of the KHSAA Board of Control, a couple of things are going to change. In my opinion, these changes will be good for high school athletes and I think all parties will agree they are fair. Here's what will happen:

    1. There will be limitations on "scholarships" for those students going to private schools. They will still be able to receive some aid, but not like it is today. After all, remember people, it's high school, not college.

    2. The private schools will have a set number of middle schools they can draw from, unlike today. It is my understanding that Trinity draws students from 76 different middle schools in the area. If you are a county school, you can see the disadvantage there, beig that you only get kids from one (or maybe two) middle schools in your county.

    3. If a student does decide that he/she would still like to attend a private school after going to a public middle school, they will have to sit out of participation AND practice for one full year. So, for example, if a kid goes to Tates Creek middle school his 8th grade year and decides he wants to go to Lexington Christian his 9th grade year, they will not be able to participate in ANY athletic competition.

These are the things that will change. What do you think about them?

  3. WOW! Congrats to John! He deserves every bit of it. I can now say I've played against (and got beat by, of course) a member of the PGA Tour! I played with Holmes my senior year of high school in the state tournament. He was a 7th grader and he beat me by a shot. He shot 76. I can remember telling Drew Conliffe after the round while we were checking our cards that "this guy's got it goin' on!" I know he would be good and I'm glad to see he has made it to the big leagues!!!

  4. We have support from our radio station no matter where we travel. They have broadcast games from Florida, Alabama, California, and Las Vegas just while I was invilved with them. Our local newspaper also does an excellant job with photos and stories about our youth leagues t-ball and up. These are just some of the many attributes that makes us the King of Baseball in Kentucky.

You are absolutely right! Harrison Co. has always had GREAT support from the Democrat and WCYN. I can still remember going with my dad across the state when he did color for the Breds on WCYN. Growing up I thought all teams had a radio station broadcast their games. Man, was I wrong! You guys should be really grateful for the time and effort the folks in Cynthiana put into the baseball program! :thumb:

  5.

The way the question is worded I would have to choose a player from our school - little old MMI!

Tom Boerwinkle went on to play at Tennessee and then into the NBA for 12 years with the Chicago Bulls.

If it was the best player while IN the 10th Region, I may have to agree with Lofton.

    DAVE

Thank you Dave! That's who I was going to say.

My Dad played against Boewinkle and is always bragging that he held him to 28 points one night!! He said he was simply a beast in the paint and was a man among boys.
