Boys 13th Region Fear 'Les' Regional Ratings

Change the "couple' to "several" and I would agree 100%. -

I did not realize this. I've not seen them play enough to intelligently comment on their defensive play. Too bad SFL is not with us anymore, I'm sure he could enlighten us like no other.
-
I've not seen them play since their loss to PCC, but I am a little shocked that they are not playing as well as expected. Also shocked at the apparent lack of production from Jones.

Congrats SL. Good Luck against Molloy.

South Laurel 68 Mason County 63
Boucher replied to mhighfield's topic in KY Boys Basketball (High School)
Not a SL fan, my house is still brick. It was 13th Region officials. Maybe they look at the Laurel's as their own already. BTW- After hearing what I heard, I am really ashamed of you (but it does clear some things up). :irked: -
Predictions on the CFIT tourney at Corbin

I'm not Les, but have seen both play a lot, and a short answer is no. -

I can tell you that Mason shot lights out from the 3 point line (especially in the first half), and couldn't have shot many FT's. I know with about 2 minutes left in the game, SL had only been whistled for either 3 or 4 fouls combined for both halves. -

I agree. This was the strongest field in the tournament's history. Moving it to before Christmas opened the door for better competition. Very good tournament, hope all that participated enjoyed it. -
Pendleton Co. 77 George Rogers Clark 64

I wonder why Knowles was on the bench for most of the 4th quarter? He is a special player. I was also impressed with Pendleton's PG, I don't recall his name, number 23. I know everyone thinks that Pendleton is clearly #1 in the 10th, but after watching GRC, PC, and Mason all week, I would give the slight edge to Mason, with Pendleton a close second, and GRC not far behind at 3rd. From what I've seen, the 10th has some excellent coached teams. -

Ashland - North Laurel Predictions
Boucher replied to Powerhouse Cats's topic in KY Boys Basketball (High School)
IMO, NL's not 2nd best because they are such a great team, but more due to the fact the the rest of the 13th are so bad. Down year again this year in the 13th. -
Ashland - North Laurel Predictions

Actually most have them at a distant 2nd behind SL. In the most recent thread regarding 13th region rankings, 8 placed them second, 1 third, and 1 4th. 4th place has been relegated to Clay County by most. -

Two very good players. It appears that Mason will be pretty good for the next several years. -
Mason County @ South Laurel predictions
Boucher replied to mhighfield's topic in KY Boys Basketball (High School)
This game is not @ SL. I think it will be closer than most think. My prediction is SL by 10 or so. -
I-75 South to exit 41 (Hal Rogers Parkway) Left off of exit, NL HS is about 2 miles down on the left. You can't miss it, it is clearly visible from the Parkway. Hope to see you there.

Pendleton Co. vs. South Laurel
Boucher replied to Bird Man's topic in KY Boys Basketball (High School)
I think SL wins this one by 10+. They remember last season's spanking, and get revenge on their home floor. -
North Laurel, I believe around 7-7:15. You coming?
-
Jim - I guess you may have not been around long enough to know that ANYTHING can happen AT Clay County. I agree that SL is the favorite, but a loss in the 13th region tournament would not shock me at all. Over the past several seasons I've seen several SL teams that were "heads and shoulders" above the rest lose in the district or regional tournaments, and that was back in the 12th region days. SL is the favorite, but anything can happen.

13th Region Top 5 (December 17, 2005)

Sounds like KC might be one of the teams to watch for in a few years. -

IMO, outside of the newcombers, there aren't many 13th Region teams that play (or are able to play) the trapping, full court game effectively. I admit that I've only seen a few 13th Region teams so far, but, from what I've seen, outside of NL & SL, I've not seen much quickness yet. I look forward to seeing Harlan, I understand that they have good guard play. -
13th Region Top 5 (December 17, 2005)
Boucher replied to ukbellco14's topic in KY Boys Basketball (High School)
Actually it has been judged as the toughest in the state. They'll play the regining State Champion at least twice (maybe 4 x), the best team in the state (Scott County @ Scott) in the Toyota Classic, 5/3 Classic, Bryan Station, etc.). I'd like to know what Coach Brown was thinking when he left NL with this schedule.
