  1. And yes I do agree that OPEN ENROLLMENT is the problem. It you look at my previous post OPEN ENROLLMENT was my main issue. The other issues were just contributions to the problem.
  2. Does Dixie or Simon ever use the pool for practice or swim meets? It seems to me Coach Maxwell never had a problem with the baseball field and its location. Not sure on the exact dates of the gyms at Simon and Dixie, but with Scott being built at a later date it was due to need and only has 1 gym. The one thing I agree with is that the kids must work harder to get better, but I think you are missing my point. The question first asked on this thread what is the problem now? If you feel that the recent upgrades to the other schools has not influenced kids not to attend Scott than that is the way you feel. With all 3 schools being located so close together any little change or upgrade will help influence the student athlete and effect the talent level now, not the past. With not having a deep knowledge of Scott High School, I think Scott may have been built in the late 70's or early 80's and I know that the athletic teams such as basketball and baseball were competative (not sure about football) could the reason for this be new and updated facilities? As I said just trying to answer the question for now not the past.
  3. OPEN ENROLLMENT!!!! If and when the Kenton County School System decides OPEN ENROLLMENT is a bad idea things may become equal for all! To this point Dixie has a new football facility and Simon Kenton has a makeover on there gym. I think they may have changed some of the light bulbs in the parking lot at Scott, so I guess if we can talk about things being equal Scott may be getting the short end of upgrading by just a little? Has anyone ever seen a someone from the other school(s) encourage kids not to attend Scott to play sports while in the halls of a school located right behind Scott? It is possible and probable. Could OPEN ENROLLMENT cause another school to recruit kids? I think the answer is clear on how to solve the problems at Scott, 1)Take away OPEN ENROLLMENT, or 2)UPGRADE Scott's sports facilities equal to the other two schools in the district, or 3)GET BETTER at asking kids to attend Scott (the R word), than you may see better teams on the athletic teams at Scott. You the voting public in Taylor Mill could be the voice.
  4. It is very simple. Rick Chasteen: a great person, class act and the best the state has to offer when scheduling officals. He is what makes the 10th Region officals what they are!! He only expects his officals to work as hard as he does and to represent his association to the best of their abilities. If they don't they will hear about. While there may be a difference in the rankings from number 1 to 40, the 10th region officals will have you prepared to compete in the state tourney and Mr. Chasteen is the reason.
  5. Could this be part of a contract game from last year?
  6. Sounds like a parent on the defense! In the good old days parents stayed out of the coaches way and made the student athlete play harder to earn what should be! You say coaches may not be right all the time, so if that is the case than more people should become more envolved and start coaching to make those tough decisions about playing time so everyone is happy. If not, stay off the coaches back and let them do there job!!
  7. Seems like a good time to lock out this thread!
  8. Tiger you seemed to have done your share of finger pointing this year at the players and coaches of Scott. While one player may not be responsible for losing a game, I will agree with BredMan that down the stretch there were some very key turnovers by the Scott guard which resulted in Brossart points which won them the game. As the old saying goes, "if you can't stand the heat than don't type in the kitchen." On the game side of this great game by both teams and best of luck to both in the Region. Those of you who don't believe both of these teams may not meet again later in the tournament should save the gas money and not travel to the Fieldhouse!!
  9. Nice to still see the loyal support! A true fan is one which shows support during the good and patience during the down times. I guess nobody looks back at some of the coaches in the past such as Ken Sheilds for one example and some of the close to .500 records which he entered the Regional Tourney with and won. Another example would be Brossart in 2000, hit a rough patch in the road on the way to RUPP! But I guess your are right two losses to very good teams in at this point of the season will make a quick district exit? I will take my chances with Coach Carr and his group! While wins and losses may look nice for the record books, what matters is what happens at district time. Yes, there are a number of rough games coming up on the Eagles schedule, but don't be suprised if an upset or two may happen on the way to the districts. Also, by the way I think the records at district tourney time starts at 0-0. What happens in Jan. doesn't always have the same results in Feb.
  10. If there ever was a bigger hit in High School football than this one, I would hate to see it. Vincent Tucker was an animal, who because of a missed block had a clean shot on a super running back on a kickoff return. Dayton 8 Paris 6. The Dayton QB "The polish prince" Wrobleski. Tom Brown was the back, he himself was an animal. He came back from a broken jaw to personally dismantle Beechwood a few weeks later. I thought he was dead on the field. Dayton had some tough boys in those days
