  1. Before I post this, I want to make sure everyone knows this is just my opinion RIGHT NOW. I dont think this is how it will end up, but I do think there are some teams that need help right now.

    1. Holmes-Showed at the 5/3 they are as good as advertised.

    2. Highlands-Good gaurds and strong inside. Senior oriented, defense oriented.

    2. CovCath-Need Tierney to Return. The tiebreaker takes place on Friday. Without Tierney I take Highlands.

    4. NCC-Still going through the football growing pains. Keirnan has proved what I've said all summer. He is going to be tough to handle. Good guards. Good D. Good Team.

    5. Beechwood-Romes has the boys rolling and climbing up the ladder. Can they make a run at the All A.

    6. Holy Cross-They are beating teams I didn't think they would beat. Possibly the most overlooked team in the Region.

    7. Dixie-Lawson is healthy and they will keep improving. Easy district allows them to win easily in districts.

    8. Newport-The team we all say is going to surprise people, isn't doing much surprising. Bad showing in the Campbell Co. Tourny Drops them to eigth.

    9. St. Henry- Here comes the test for the CRU. District games vs. Conner and Boone. Then the All A. Then back to districts vs. Ryle. Time to step up.

    10. I can't find anyone worthy of this spot.

  2. I'd sit Tierney. Why risk it?

I would also, but you know Tim won't let that happen. There isn't a way in the world I would risk him hurting that wrist again. Let him practice this whole week and then play against Mon the 9th of Jan vs. Boone.

A game CCH should win easy. This may mean they lose to Highlands on Friday, but what is important here?

  3. 9th Region

    1. CCH -not so much the gym, but the atmosphere

    2. Holy Cross -personally I shot well there but i've seen alot of teams struggle in the Covington Matchbox. Worst Away Locker Rooms Ever.

    3. Boone Co.- Old Gym is just hard to get used too. Locker rooms are second worst to HC.

    4. Highlands-Its very hard to win at Highlands, unless your the Bluebirds. Also have some of the worst Away Locker rooms in the state.

    5. Dixie-Worst Lighting I've ever seen in any building. Hurts your eyes just to play there.

  4. Really, who is kidding who. Micheal Romes is not even close to the same player he was when he was at CCH and probably never would have became as good as he is now if he has stayed. Sure, he took the playing time and the way he was being played personally when he transfered. Now he is a totally different player and one of the best in the region. Congrats to him and I give him all the props in world for improving like he did.

With that being said, Beechwood is much improved and alot of that has to do with Michael. He basically single handedly put Beechwood back on the map in the 9th. But, they still don't have near the amount of talent or depth to win this game.

Tim Tierney has been practicing over the weekend and his cast is off. The Doctor said Tim can play whenever he is ready. The question is, is he really ready? All of us that know Tim, know that he thinks he ready, but if his hand is bothering him at all, then there really isn't a point for him to play. My guess is he won't start, he'll see some time, but limited for two reasons. 1. Its his 1st game back 2. They should still handle Beechwood

Finally I have heard the same about the students paying tribute to a CCH great, and there is nothing disrespectful about it. It should be great.

  5. .

Rice needs more than 2" to play his game at UC. He is a very good player at the high school level but is a tweener at the college level. He certainly has the skill and desire to play somewhere but not high level D-1.

How can you say he can't play at UC. Hicks is listed at 6'5"/ 6'6" and truthfully he is only 6'4"? If Rice can get to 6'6" there will be more teams looking at him than just UC. His touch around the basket is the best I've seen in 4 or 5 years from a 4 or a 5.

Henderson is very good. I wasn't sold on him until this week at the 5/3rd. He is a legit prospect and I would expect him to start getting looks this season by D-1 schools.

Tubby was at a few of the games this week at 5/3rd, I wonder if he saw this Holmes group play at all.

  6. I know a couple things about Shelby. The will cause some problems for Holmes. AJ Slaughter might be the sleeper for MR. Basketball while everyone is talking about Allen and, my favorite, Dunaway. Slaughter is for real. Add the big boys in and this team is my pick to win the 8th region this year.

  7. Jefferson is around 6ft tall and has nice build to him, he lift weights in offeseason because his also Holmes best football player. I don't think size is that huge of a factor for Jefferson.

Very good point, but sometimes gaining weight and muscle can slow a player down. Does this seem possible? Not really, but I can see Duran playing small D-1 or really good D-2. What about 2 years at a JUCO and then playing at good sized D-1.

What about this. Say Huggins does go to Marshall. And Mayo, Walker, Ellis all follow. Then the Herd brings in Duran and Rice to finish out the recruiting class. Then the next season they bring in Henderson. Not a bad team. :D

  8. He will be he is playing behind Duran Jefferson.

Far from a legend on a rise. Isn't BJ Avery the backup PG, but he's hurt. Then isn't there another gaurd that was running the pt after Avery. I've even seen hill running the pg. Jefferson is the best PG in the region and possibly the best Holmes pg ever. How can u clain this kid is going to be a legend?

  9. Penick is a very good fit for a D2 collage or a D3 he for being 6'9 is not very Physical, doesnt really play hard and doesnt have good leadership skills on the court, and everyone has said it for four years now that he has the potential to be better than Ross Nelter, Mike Brock, Brendan Votel, but every year he comes out he is the same player. Now he goes to a D2 school they can bulk him up get him more physical and get him in a everyday routine of playing with passion. Dan has great upsides he shoots it well from three, he will rebound, he is very athletic. I think the people around Dan could have done a better job with him..and yes that means coaching.

Thank you Golden Boy. This is exactly how I see Penick. Can he improve yes, but is he D-1 material? Not yet.

  10. From a Previous Thread

Actually this may come as a surprise to many BGP'ers but I went and watched Holmes tonight. I was very impressed with some of the players.

I hadn't seen Arnez this season and I would agree his stock is rising and rising fast. He might be a top 5 player by the end of the season, he's very mature, very quick and jumps like no one else in the 9th.

Greg Rice is back to form and I have always said he has the most upside of any Holmes player. He doesn't miss a shot if its inside the 3pt line and he takes the ball to the whole very well and very strong. After tonight, he's my #1 in the region again. Consistancy and behavior is going to be his key.

Duran Jefferson, same as usual. He finds the open man better than anyone and just directs the Bulldogs as a captain should do. Looked great as usual.

Austin Hill is hurting. Literally. Tonight you could really see he was in pain. Is this a consistant problem? Most impressive was he played through it. He gave 110% and earned my utmost respect. He was hurt and you could tell, but he was diving for balls and hustling more than anyone on the floor. He might be one of my favorite players to watch after tonight. Good game Austin.

Yes that was a CovCath fan and St. Henry Boy giving props to the Dogs from Holmes. They look really tough and I don't know who will beat them in the 5/3.

  11. How is there an error? Its an opinion of mine. Opinions are what you think of something. Thats what I think of the players on my list.

Also Opinions are aloud to change.

Here is the definition of opinions from the dictionary. Maybe this will help you understand:

    o·pin·ion NOUN

    1) A belief or conclusion held with confidence but not substantiated by positive knowledge or proof

    2) A judgment or estimation of the merit of a person or thing

  12. How does one put out a list of his top players in a given region and only today went to see a team that he has put 4 of their players on his list? Seems there might be a bit of a creditablilty problem but excuse me. I'm sure I'm wrong again and will be told over and over about it.

Were still wating on your list BigZig. Have you seen everyone this year. I've seen everyone on the list more than once, but not everyone of them this season. You know players do improve.
