St Henry already has won regular season meeting...but it was early on. And won it I believe without Rechtin.
-
This season has been so crazy...nothing would suprise me. Heck what if Conner got it together and shows everyone why they were preseason #1?
What if we have a late season injury to a contender? What if NCC wins the ALL A STATE and then goes on a run like they did in 2000 and St Henry did in 2003 after winning ALL A State?
I've seen everyone one of these teams and Id have to say the best 3 are Holmes, Dixie, and NCC. If the winner doesn't come from those 3 then I'd be really surprised.
-
Still confused on why NCC was seeded a #1 seed in the lower bracket?
I would agree St. Henry, Highlands, and CCH are the top 3 teams. Probably would say NCC is in that group also.
-
Ironically the season the Crusaders represented the 9th Region at Rupp Arena.
I think I have this wrong. The 03' regional championship team didn't lost to CCH at home. It was the 2001/2002 team I believe. Lewin/Finke/Bain beat Eisenmenger/Voelker in 2002. Sorry about that.

Will Zach barnett be able to play tonight?
Doesn't look good. Might be in uniform for the first time since the 1st game injury but I really don't see him playing much of a role in this one. Still rehabbing his butt off!

Say what you want about this game...the enviroment is usually top notch. The kids from both schools get pumped up for this game because many of the players and parents know each other and grew up with each other. Its become a home court rivalry
PAST GAME NOTES: CovCath hasn't won at St Henry since the 2002/03 season. St Henry took down the Colonels possibly for the first time ever last season in Park Hills.
Of the past 10 meetings each team has won 5 games. That includes a 2007 meeting in the 1st rnd of regionals where CCH won big. The Colonels have drummed the Cru in most of its wins, while St Henry past wins have been rather close. In 2005 St Henry (11-15) pulled off a major upset over #1 CovCath(23-7). A CovCath team that had dominated the region for 2yrs.
2 of the top coaches in the state going at it and doing it for a great cause. This even not only shows how great of coaches they are but why they are even better people and why they are so highly reguarded in the area and state they coach in.
Should be a fun night and I believe we'll see a much better game than most expect.

If they split they'd play either Villa or Ludlow in rnd 1 with Dixie waiting for the winner in the Semis
-
Only 2 games that matter right now for St Henry is Ludlow tonight and Villa next week. Win those two and you get another shot at Lloyd in the district....and a chance to get to the Regional.
Barnett is getting close to coming back...probably full strength for him some time next week. Possibly could dress this Friday vs CovCath
Nothing else matters. 1-12 doesn't matter. Losses to Newport, Grant Co. McNick, Cooper don't matter. Just win these 2 and you still have a chance to get back to the regional....sounds crazy but 1 step at a time. Cru wins tonight!

1. Jake Geisler-NCC
2. Brandon Hatton-Dixie
3. Jake Thelen-CovCath
4. Brady Hitchew-NCC After seeing him 4 times this month...Im pretty confident he's most underrated.
5. Donnie Cheatum-Lloyd Could not believe how talented he was from the outside.
ALL OF THESE GUYS SHOULD BE CONSIDERED
Brown-Boone
Stauffer-Ryle
Smith-Scott
Stansburry-Dixie
Hayes-Holmes

"I am surprised coaches don't use film more after games. But perhaps I take High School ball too serious. "
What does this mean? Almost every program has a video coordinator and I guarentee 9/10 coaches watch every game.
Not to mention I know for a fact that coaches call on other coaches and ask for tapes of upcoming games all the time. Lots of time is spent watching tape. In most cases the kids watch tape after every game or most games.
No clue about the voting for the top 10...maybe some coaches think rankings are a waste of time and nonsense.
As for the overal subject. I think it comes down to time. Coaches love seeing stats too. In most cases I would bet they wish they could see stats for everyone they play for every game. But the resources to keep all these stats and then record them and then get them to the press or BGP or where ever takes time.
After teaching all day...coaching practices/games....watching tape...dealing with frustrating kids/parents/administrative problems....oh and then spend some time with his/her family...the least important or last thing a coach wants to do is put stats in a data base or call them in. You have to remember were dealing with HS programs that dont have a lot of money or a lot of resources to do this. Then why would they being doing it...to please a few fans or parents. Most of these coaches have stats in there hand or posted in the locker room I would assume. But many feel its not something they have to provide to the public or the press....and I kinda understand that.

Newport is a very fast team. Not very tall but they get up and down the court.
St Henry needs this win. Needs to build on a win. Played much better against Conner and Boone but still allowing too many points and not holding teams under 50 like St Henry usually does.
I think the losing streak ends tonight for the Cru.
-
As I've been saying for about 2 months....this Cooper squad is a contender in the 33rd district. They have come a long way and are dangerous to anyone in the 9th Region.
-
Id have my kid play for Coach Steiner anyday. He's one heck of a coach. Another instance of a parent/fan not having a clue about what goes on day in and day out inside a basketball program.
-
I saw in another forum that he only had 25pts and that it was a mistake by EvanDaniels....not really sure but either way pretty good.
-
-
Barnett gets another X ray this week. He has started re-hab and they are hoping he can play in the ALL A at some point. If not I would expect him back by late January early Febuary. But keep in mind that his broken fibula came in the first quarter of the first game of the year vs Brossart.
-
Im not sure what Thelen is listed at but I don't think he's 6'6" at all. More like 6'4"-6'5" MAYBE. He playes much bigger than he is.
-
This was a different team than the one that played Cooper wednesday.
Conner was lights out from 3pt line.
St Henry out rebounded the much bigger Conner.
FREE THROWS!
Keep working hard Cru...its gonna pay off at some point.
-
This Cooper team is a legit team now. They aren't Cooper of the past 2yrs. They know what they want to do and they do it pretty well. They don't force dumb shots....they do force some close shots. But they all rebound very well and that keeps them in most games. I look for them to pull off a few pretty good wins this year...Tim Sullivan is one heckuva coach. Maybe the best in his district.
-
Im pretty sure St Henry will get another shot at Lloyd in the districts.....winner goes to Regionals. I'll take the CRU by then.
-
Im 100% sure Coach Faust was asked about a date for Barnetts return by the reporter. You don't know Coach Faust very well if you even think for 1 second he's making excuses. And from your post it sounds like your saying Coach Faust is using this injury as an excuse.....and thats not the case at all.
-
Anyone have video feed of this? Youtube?
-
After seeing Hatton a few times this year Im impressed by his size and strength....but how much weight has this KID put on. He almost looks a bit over weight.
-
Not saying it would have made a difference in the out come but not only is St Henry missing Zach Barnett with a broken fibula....Thursday they were also missing leading scorer senior fwd John Patula due to a death in the family.
This St Henry team is learning and getting experience. Hopefully they keep playing hard and will be a better basketball team come Feb and March.
St Henry JV looked very good. Dominating performance by them only allowing 19pts.
KHSAA Bylaw 11 violated at All A State Tournament.
