  1. Last week I was hearing the name Anthony "Biggie" McClain from UC as a possible transfer. I've also hear about a transfer from BYU. But after talking to my source it sounds like both of these seem more and more unlikely.

As for Ferguson.....nothing has come of him yet other than a couple open gyms.

  2. I agree with this, but if you remember his brother Jake from last year was also pretty small too very similar build as Ben does, and he did a decent job running the point last season, so lets hope Ben can do the same!

On Darius Meiman, he will definitely have a good career at St. Henry but I can't see him making a huge impact this coming year. He should get some playing time no doubt, but having almost no varsity experience will hurt him. It is a big jump playing JV to varsity so I see next season being a learning and maturing season for him. Look for him to have a big junior and senior season for the cru!

I agree about Meiman. He will see time this year. I know he was probably upset he didn't get more time last year, but that was a pretty good group of Seniors ahead of him.

  3. The only returning starter is Zach Barnett. Zach really played well and began to get comfortable in the offense during the 2nd half of the season last year. His speed, defensive skills, and shooting really have improved over the past 3 seasons. His best asset seems to be taking the ball to hole strong, but he needs to do this a bit more now that he's known as a 3pt shooter.

Sam Dedden is the player to watch. He will be a junior and has a lot talent. He's long and athletic. Reminds me a lot of Ben Kuebbing or Bennie Bessler. I expect him to start from day 1.

Darius Meiman has a lot to learn to be a big impact at the Varsity level. I see him playing both JV and Varsity again this season, with his role developing a bit as the season goes. He's got a bright future at St Henry.

At the point guard spot, I would expect to see Ben Hils (younger brother of Jake) take over at some point next season. He'll be a sophmore and as a freshman impressed the staff very much.

From what I know the incoming Freshman class will have a good amount of talent. Which could be a good thing for this young team, but with Dixie loaded this season.....the Cru has some work to do.

  4. I think Elijiah has so much talent and god given skill. His gifts are unreal. This is a kid who, if he really works at it. Gets those grades up and finds a good NCAA fit....could be making a living playing basketball the rest of his life. I wish him the best and look forward to hopefully watching him play at big school someday.

  5. So you'd like 4 spots every season filled by guys that likely can't produce at an elite level? Isn't that why Tubby fell out of favor with UK fans???

Like I said, I know its probably not reasonable. But I think you also have to take into consideration that every few years the state of KY will have a Top 50 player to go after. Just like D. Miller, C.Lofton, J.Hood, R.Rondo, etc.

So maybe its not possible to take 1 each year. But maybe you could make sure the roster has spot for one every other year. A 4yr guy who might be able to work himself into the line ups full of ALL AMERICANS every once in awhile. Look at this years roster:

    VALUABLE PLAYERS

    Wall

    Bledsoe

    Cousins

    Patterson

    Dodson

    Miller

    Orton

    Liggins

    GUYS THAT AREN'T NECCESARRY

    Hood

    Krebs

    Stevenson

    Harris

    Harrelson

So looking at that. I think its possible that Calipari can keep 1 or 2 KY guys on this roster at all times.

  6. I think it would be kinda cool if every year Coach Cal offered 1 scholarship to a kid like Justice. I know this probably isn't reasonable but this kid can really fill it up. He's a very good PG and one of the best I've seen down at the Sweet 16 in a long time. Better than Doug Denton or Ty Proffit...NO DOUBT.

He would be a good college point guard his junior and senior seasons. Is the Louisville deal a done deal? Any chances he ends up somewhere else?

  7. I really hope Newport does well. They are a fun TEAM to watch. They pass the ball very well and seem to come up with big shots when needed. They have grit. They have athleticism. But one thing no one is talking about with this Newport team is something we didn't NEED to talk about with Holmes the past few years. THE EXPERIENCE OF RUPP ARENA!!!

In the past few years, Holmes, I would say embraced Rupp Arena and the big crowds. They never played too nervous. They never really got out of there game plans. They stuck with what got them there and did very well because of it. I really hope Newport can do the same. Be patient. Run your offensive sets. Play tough defense. Don't get too worked up with things are going wrong. Don't get over confident if things are going right. Show class and show the people of Lexington you are there because truthfully, you really are as good as you want to be.

    GOOD LUCK TO THE WILDCATS!!!

  8. To play at St. X Johnny would have had to move to Ohio as per the OHSAA rules, to play in Ohio you must live in Ohio! So......

No where in my comment did I imply there was anything wrong in any of the players doing what they did, but all are transfers, per KHSAA rules. How can you say it was anything else?

Transfer: 1 : to move to a different place, region, or situation; especially : to withdraw from one educational institution to enroll at another

:idunno: But, I think that is what they did!

The OHSAA rule is true....but there are ways around this. I know of a few stories and 2 specifically who have went to CCH feeder schools then went to Ohio schools to and went on to play sports. Condos, apartments, grandparents, aunts and uncles and even 2nd homes all have in the past played a part in making this happen.

  9. If anyone wants to complain about the thread you need to PM me and not air your dirty laundry here.

In short, there are powers that be at Scott that want to fire Coach Carr so it is very relevant to discuss it. With that said we need to be careful singling out players. I think it is OK to say Coach Carr and such in such a player had an issue and that players father runs the Eagle Club, but it is not OK to take shots at the player in question.

Id like to the know the specific names of "the powers that be" at Scott that want to fire Coach Carr. I might even write a letter and have my friends that graduated from Scott right a letter too. So if you could Guru please provide the names of the "power that be". Is the it the AD? The principal? Teachers?

  10. This is a joke its even being discussed. I really think this thread should just be shut down. People are singling out kids and incidents by a coach. Who really knows the entire situation? Maybe this kid had been a problem in the past. Maybe the kid had been warned in practice about his mistakes time and time again. Maybe Coach Carr really does care about his kids. Maybe he doesn't care what parents are on other teams think. Or other programs think. You take what you get from Coach Carr. A good person and good coach.

Brad Carr = Bob Knight right???? I think not!

  11. No doubt they both deserved to be on it but Meyer is a Senior, Giesler will have his day next year.

Giesler had a good game. Probably worthy of a pick. But no doubt you go with the senior here. When NCC was down it was Myers play who brought them back. He was flying all around the gym getting steals and taking the ball to the hoop. Myer definetly deserved this award.
