Here is two more that should be added.
Juan Thomas - Ashland
Phillip Ratliff - Lawrence County
Both were All-State in both sports, and dominated on the gridiron and hardwood. Plus both were outstanding baseball players as well.
Not sure about M. Fitzpatrick but Coty hurt his shoulder and was trying to get ready to play but it is not going to happen.
One other note I might add, LC not only had these two players hurt but a LC cheerleader was injured last friday night as well.
He is the #1 QB in Ohio and not because of what his team does, but what he has done at QB camps over the last 2 years. This guy is the real deal on a very bad team.
Way to go Rams! Now with the Ashland win over Belfry who beat NCC last week, it is looking like Raceland has a team that can compete against Northern Kentucky schools this year. Keep on winning and Good Luck all year.
Just an update, during the kicking scrimmage he made 11 of 12 and the one he missed was wiped out by an holding penalty. The other kid(27 yr old) only hit half of his kicks during the scrimmage. Every media outlet in Central Ohio is talking about Pettrey and I even read a nice article on him in the Dayton newspaper yesterday.
Aaron Pettrey kicked the game winner in Ohio State's kicking scrimmage today and appears to be the front runner to start for OSU. His kickoffs consistently go out of the end zone and his FGs are dead on even from long distances. Congrats to the former Raceland Ram. :dancingpa
First, How is the kid that got hurt last week?
Now, if Ashland doesn't make adjustments and improvements they very well could be 2-3 or 1-4 after Prestonburg. But with that tough schedule that should get them ready for another District title run.
I say do away with the Bye week and start the regular season a week later. That way border schools can schedule teams from other states especially Ohio and West Virginia.
But I also would allow some schools to start the season as they do now if they are schedule in a Bowl game and only a Bowl game.
None on any message boards in Ohio, other than a weekly pick'em. After viewing the thread they have LC picked over Coal Grove but not by many. Of about 50 posters picking it was 27 picking LC and 23 picking Coal Grove.
I think LC will have to control the clock if they want to win. Coal Grove used to have a strong running game, much like alot of schools in Lawrence County Ohio.
If I am not mistaken to get to their field once you cross the bridge into Ohio turned toward Ironton and get off the Coal Grove exit and turn right and that road will lead you to the High School. The High School actually is named Dawson Bryant High or at least that is what it used to say outside the school.
