  1. He did not want to say anything about the election in Iran to avoid any hint of us trying to interfere in Iranian internal affairs. Why did he make comments on the internal affairs of Honduras so quickly?

    Uh, because they're not Muslim?

  2. What has he done that upsets you? Said that he would stand on the side of other countries that want to resolve this peacefully? Or did I miss the announcement about US troops heading south?

You mean besides lay waste to this country? Nothing, we're good.

  3. U.S. District Judge Denny Chin cited the unprecedented nature of the multibillion-dollar fraud as he sentenced Madoff to the maximum of 150 years in prison, a term comparable only to those given in the past to terrorists, traitors and the most violent criminals. There is no parole in federal prison so Madoff will most likely die there.

"Here, the message must be sent that Mr. Madoff's crimes were extraordinarily evil and that this kind of irresponsible manipulation of the system is not merely a bloodless financial crime that takes place just on paper, but it is instead ... one that takes a staggering human toll," Chin said.

Extraordinarily evil? This judge ain't seen nothing if that's his definition of extraordinarily evil.

  4. IMO opinion, God is omnipotent and all knowing. To me that means he knows every possible choice and every possible outcome. You can' surprise God. BUT, we still have free will to make those choices.

All paths have the same beginning and the same ending. They just take different ways to get there.

  5. I didn't particularly care about the situation when it first came out. But, if memory serves me, his official reasoning for the backdrop was along the lines of being consistent with previous speeches. According to the linked article, he made Biblical references during the Georgetown speech. At any rate, the two scenarios don't smack of hypocrisy to me.

Agreed. Additionally, using symbols in the background and using appropriate word at times during a speech are two separate things.

Now, if he gets up and gives us a baptist (or catholic or methodist, or any non-Christian religion) sermon, then that's a different thing entirely.

Under that line of thinking, wouldn't it have been improper to give a speech at a Catholic University? Would he have had Allah's name covered at Cairo University? As others have said, its a matter of consistency.

  6. This is the war we should be in. The Iraq whateveritis only hurts our ability to be where we should be. By this time, Kim Jong Il should have no doubt what will happen to him, his military, his government and his nukes should he make the wrong move. Instead, we continue to say to him, "Now Kim, you play nice with the other kids and maybe we'll get you a treat."

Now that he's threatened the destruction of South Korea, Japan and the United States, we should be on a war footing with North Korea. Check every vessel that leaves port. Destroy any missiles he puts on the launch pad. Prepare the 3rd MEF for deployment to Korea. Have Sentrys and Hawkeyes in the air around the DMZ.

And prepare ourselves to use our nukes.
