  1. Typical liberal... wanting to benefit from someone else's labor and wealth...
  2. This is patently absurd Ace. If tax incentives work for "new businesses" they also work for existing or "old" businesses too. The more money is coaxed into the national economy from those controlling it, and the longer it remains in circulation trading hands, the more our government AND our citizens will benefit. Obama is on a reckless course to kill the goose that lays the golden eggs... and our current economy proves it.
  3. And for the record... the only people "uncertain" whether tax cuts grow the economy are the same individuals chained to the political ideology of bigger more powerful more intrusive central government. They cannot admit they are simply wrong. The fact that the mere mention of tax hikes along with a healthcare bill laden with increased taxes and regulations on business has smothered any growth should be clear to any willing to see.
  4. I said "few if any" Ace. Your post merely supports my assertion. As far as the personalities you name the fact they do actually leverage their "celebrity" to assist others in need allows me to set aside most of their idiotic political views and support them as halfway decent people. :thumb:
  5. The fact that Toyota is in Georgetown, tripling the county population, providing millions in wages and by extension income taxes after Martha Layne Collins was skewered by the Herald Leader for giving away the store must have escaped their indepth investigation.
  6. One of the great no-brainers of business and economy is if you want something to grow and thrive, you reduce taxes (penalties) on that product or activity, and if you want it to slow or halt you increase taxes on it. We don’t tax tobacco and liquor because we want more and more people to abuse them. We don’t add taxes to attract corporate growth. Every state in the union understands that to attract a new manufacturing plant like a Toyota, the state has to reduce the penalties for doing business within that state’s borders. The benefits of thousands of jobs and millions (ultimately billions) in increased income taxes on those wages and a much higher quality of life for citizens with increased buying power generating increased sales tax revenues FAR outweigh the petty and punitive direct taxation on the corporation itself. The longer money remains in circulation, the more tax revenue it generates every time it changes hands. By reducing taxes, encouraging business/jobs growth resulting in more spending by all of us with good jobs the more the federal, state and local governments rake in in tax revenues. I see this theory in practice for communities in Texas, Florida and other “non-personal income tax” business friendly states. They are thriving from overwhelming activity while others such in such “progressive” bastions as New York and California wither. You can argue all you want. The facts are clear and compelling.
  7. There is not merely one policy but the entire cluster of B.O.'s political worldview. Private business, the greatest economic engine in the world is denounced as being unpatriotic for not glibly paying a greater and greater tax burden for runaway federal spending. (The sneaky secret is no corporation actually pays taxes... they cannot and remain profitable. They simply pass them along to their customers and in some cases to their shareholders.) From Obamacare, to Cap and Trade, to essentially shutting down coal and oil exploration, to favoritism with big labor, to a bow and apologize foreign policy, to constantly throwing more and more money at a problem that cannot be solved from the lofty heights of Mt. D.C., B.O. has undermined the confidence of a majority of those with the actual talent and resources to pump up our economy and real jobs base. I personally know many business owners and managers unwilling to add jobs until they see how the body of B.O. policies are going to play out. Having Democrat control of the WH, the Sentate and House are not good for business at this time.
  8. I understand your view of Beck. I would imagine that as fond as I am of my own sound reasoning, if I were on the air four hours a day, I would eventually say plenty of things that would offend a lot of folks. I might even look back on what I said and regret how I presented my opinion. Frig... I do that daily with my wife. I can't imagine how I might come across to everyone else in our society. If you're honest, (and I believe you are) you would probably have a similar track record. What has gone virtually unreported in the media's search for hatred, bigotry, racism, etc. amid a too white crowd is the fact that Beck's little party raised over $5.5 million for the Special Operations Warrior Foundation. Again, you can point out all his flaws and deficiencies, and I may agree with you, but there are few if any among the Hollywood, entertainment, news media or simply the private sector doing anything close to these results.
  9. Brilliant and concise. Put me down as one of the "obstreperous citizenry."
  10. Fair enough... So, as one seeking the truth first, what part of the following do you have a problem with?: Equal justice under the law Judge a man by the content of his character not the color of his skin Now is the time to turn to God Now is the time to ask and beg for His forgiveness Now is the time to ask for His help We each need a personal relationship with God. We must know God exists We must learn to trust God when times are bad In so doing, we may have the confidence that things will get better Not being a smart butt... I'm just trying to connect the dots myself.
  11. I'm curious Clyde. Who do you listen to that you find worthy of your time and intellect? This being a message board, that could sound any number of ways. I am sincere in asking.
  12. I don't know of one human "pipe" that isn't corroded... from the dear Pope on down. Certainly some are moreso than others. What does it say about the state of our spiritual leaders that a retired alcoholic, new Mormon shock jock is delivering the words with a passion and a following any one of the ministers should have. Something is afoot, and we are all a part of it whether we want to be or not. If the result is an awakening that draws America back to the core values that made us great and to a closer walk with God for each of us... I'm all about it. :thumb:
  13. You forgot to mention the solid strategy of "another stimulus bill" out of Obama's stash, that'll really get things rolling. People clearly just don't get it. Big government is the answer to all our needs and wants. Utopia is possible only with 100% government. We no longer need to work and toil to achieve our wildest dreams. We merely need to trust our immaculate leaders in Washington. They are so selfless... wanting nothing but what is best for each and every one of us. I just felt a thrill run up my leg...
  14. What does that have to do with anything... it just proves how bad Bush was... it's a wonder Obama has been able to spare us thus far...
  15. The truth is the truth, regardless of the corroded pipe it may flow through... just as sewage is sewage even if transported via 24k golden pipes. I understand your misgivings toward Beck, I have them toward others on your side of the aisle. IMO, Beck hit a homerun with this event, regardless of how any of us may feel about how he carries out his day job.
  16. About 120 years premature there Buttah. I realize Beck has few fans on this board but if any of you can find legitimate problems with his central themes, (all simply repeating the teaching of other great leaders.) I submit that your problem is not with Beck himself: Equal justice under the law Judge a man by the content of his character not the color of his skin Now is the time to turn to God Now is the time to ask and beg for His forgiveness Now is the time to ask for His help We each need a personal relationship with God. We must know God exists We must learn to trust God when times are bad In so doing, we may have the confidence that things will get better
  17.   Folks this is a prime example of why so many of us have issues with wonks from the left side of the aisle. Mr. Press is simply babbling his particular beliefs in total disregard of actual facts. Anyone that has ever actually stepped inside the Lincoln Memorial will find the Gettysburg Address inscribed on one end and Lincoln's Second Inaugural Address on the other. These are not tiny inscriptions, but large writings filling the height of each wall. Both directly reference God. The Second Inaugural Address could pass as a sermon for its direct Biblical quotes and Judeo-Christian teachings. This from one of the undisputed greatest presidents of all time to the people of his nation in an official "government" speech. When Martin Luther King Jr. delivered his "Dream" at that location 47 years ago, he did not conceal his Biblical roots or message. Press is an example of how the media elites simply do not get it.
  18. :eyeonyou: Hard to imagine how CNN, MSNBC, etc. are losing viewers. :idunno:
  19. It was a departure. What I saw seemed to be a sincere attempt to bridge divisions and unite a great people. Beck went out of his way to avoid specific political issues and personalities. Some may feel it was over the top to have over 200 clergy from all denominations and races standing behind him, but at the very least... someone is actually trying to pull the team back together with common threads and move the ball down the field. I'm not an official Beck apologist... I simply thought it represented a solid move in the right direction. I personally hope the momentum continues to build. :thumb:
  20. The Colonial Ministers, Preachers and Evangelists prior to and during the Revolution. They were viewed by the British as instigators of the American Revolution for preaching "individual" accountability to Jesus Christ rather than "collective" responsibility to the King.
  21. And to clarify mine... I did not take your comments personally. I simply offered a quote I found interesting. I have no problem with questioning the numbers, but I think the distinction is to be made between those specified as "hate" crimes versus your everyday run of the mill crimes. As far as the reason our Jewish brethren have not been in the news as our Muslim brethren have been... there are a few very good reasons for that, but it's not worth bringing them up here... The sad thing is, there are enough morons that would be as upset to learn that the president is Jewish as there are who believe he is Muslim.
  22. I have no problem with whatever you choose to believe. I simply found an AP story quoting the NYC Chief of Po-Po's citing those numbers specifically regarding "hate" crimes. That's why I provided a link. Your problem is with him and the AP... I just thought it was interesting.
  23. The naysayers can say what they want, the Beck rally was inspirational and as non-political as something like that could be. I have a new level of respect for what Beck is trying to do. :thumb:
  24. Well since you're the only one that's read the NY Times articles what's your take?
