  1. So you are going to criticize what he did at the beginning of his career? I am sure he has learned a lot since then.
  2. The 3 tests were very tough tests and that is what I am talking about. It is good to play against some very tough teams early to get a feeling what kind of team you will have.
  3. I have no idea what Ohio St's strength of schedule was last season, but they played @ UNC and @ Florida as well as Tennesee. They really tested themselves last seaon with a tough non-conference schedule and made it to the National Title game.
  4. You are trying to make something out of nothing. I think we still have a real shot at Singleton, Jennings, Hamga, and Sampson III. If Morgan isn't coming this weekend I doubt we will get him. Jennings is just confusing, but we are on his list. I think we have a great shot at Sampson now since he decided to come to Madness. But Gillispie does need backup plans and that is what this is all about.
  5. Its a bad idea if you don't have a great team. If your not great you will be exposed. He brung up a Michigan St team that had been depleted by players leaving early and were not that good. If your a great team it is not going to hurt you to play a tough schedule.
  6. I think Fisher is a great coach no matter what, but if the team does not make it to the playoffs in the next 2 seasons then I believe they need a change. I think if you know about all the players they have lost after their 5 year span of good football then its understandable that they fell off.
  7. I don't think people should go as far as to say Sheldon Clark is not a good football team. A fair assessment maybe unproven to this point simply because of the weaker schedule.
  8. I meant to say that in order to win you need to play a weaker schedule.
  9. So is the point made that in order to be a national champion, you need to play a tough schedule.
  10. That is very misleading though. What brings down a lot of the non-conference strength of schedule is playing cupcakes that are ranked extremely low rather than playing other teams that can't matchup with your good team ranked even in the top 100. My point in all this is the best team will win, most of the time regardless of who they play. There was no doubt that Florida was the best team last year. The year before Florida clicked at the right time just right and won then too. And the year before that no one was even close to UNC.
  11. Last year Florida tested themselves with Kansas, Ohio St, and Florida St (who was a bit of a dissapointment). Ohio St was runner up and they played @ Florida, @ UNC, and against UT. When UNC won it all 3 years ago they played UK, UT and Iowa in Maui, and IU just to name a few. If you are a national championship calibur team it won't hurt you to test yourself early.
  12. I think for as good of a team as UL is their schedule is still a little weak. UK, UNC, and Purdue are the only potentially tough non-conference teams on the schedule (UNC definitly will be a tough game). I think if you look at when UNC won the title and UK's 2 national titles you will see a very tough non-conference schedule.
  13. I wish we could get Beas Hamga to Madness!! I believe he could very well be UK's answer in getting a big post player in this class. Still several things have to occur before that happens.
  14. http://sports.yahoo.com/ncaab/news;_ylt=AjBkLCWrIifWHv3T_KA67NTevbYF?slug=nonconferenceschedulesdo&prov=tsn&type=lgns I disagree with DeCoursey on this one. I thought it would be of some interest showing UofL's non conference schedule though.
  15. Unless it is used to be prescribed for health benefits I truly see no benefit of making this drug legal. The negatives far outweigh the positives IMO.
  16. I have only seen the Elliot Co. boys play once and thought they were pretty nice players, but I believe its too early to tell where they will be going. I honestly can't see all 4 of them playing D-1 basketball. But I do think they have a lot of potential and will be able to play at a pretty good school at the next level.
  17. | 1994 hou | 1 5 0 | 0 0 | | 1995 hou | 7 9 0 | 0 0 | | 1996 hou | 8 8 0 | 0 0 | | 1997 ten | 8 8 0 | 0 0 | | 1998 ten | 8 8 0 | 0 0 | | 1999 ten | 13 3 0 | 3 1 | | 2000 ten | 13 3 0 | 0 1 | | 2001 ten | 7 9 0 | 0 0 | | 2002 ten | 11 5 0 | 1 1 | | 2003 ten | 12 4 0 | 1 1 | | 2004 ten | 5 11 0 | 0 0 | | 2005 ten | 4 12 0 | 0 0 | | 2006 ten | 8 8 0 | 0 0 | | 2007 ten | 3 1 0 | 0 0 | +----------+--------------+----------+ | TOTALS | 108 94 0 | 5 4 | +----------+--------------+----------+ Obviously the franchise was awful when he got there. Then he gradually built it back up until they were a perennial power house for a few years. After that they unloaded the talent and fail off. Now their back playing well again. I believe he has done a great job there!
  18. I have also heard this morning that Ralph Sampson III is going to be attending as well.
  19. First things first, Jeff Fisher hasn't acted as crazy as Dennis Green did in Arizona. Also, unlike Shottenheimer (who definitly should not have been fired!) he has won in the playoffs before. Besides its not Fisher's fault that Steve McNair could not stay healthy his last few years in Tennessee.
  20.:eek: Cornerback? I am amazed how you guys are piling on players that like Young and Bush. Bush was overrated going in simply because people were acting like he was going to be the best running back ever. But what Vince Young has done in the NFL has been very impressive IMO.
  21. Like I said, no one is arguing who is the better team, but who accomplished more. I think winning a state title and going undefeated against in-state competition is a huge accomplishment.
  22. Rockastle hasn't necessarily played well, but their 3 game losing streak were to 3 really good football teams. They are still a very physical team and will knock your block off. I would be surprised to see them lose again before the playoffs.
  23. I agree. But alcohol is a big part of our culture and so is tobacco. And that is not going to change. So why should we make something else that is potentially harmful legal?
  24. West would have been gone if he made it back around to me. I really like the pick! :thumb:
  25. I think the argument here is not that the 07 Scott County team was the best ever (although they do atleast have an argument), but in this thread it is about who accomplished more. I think going undefeated in the state of Kentucky and beating the team on the verge of being the #1 team in the nation with 2 more than likely NBA players on the roster and beating a couple of really good teams in the tournament they went to in North Carolina I believe.
