  1. Yes, there have been at least 4 coaches interviewed.
  2. Bill Letton would be an excellent candidate!! Where did he go after leaving Lexington Catholic?
  3. Why not think big?!?! Shoot for the stars!
  4. I heard yesterday that the request for applications is going to be opened up for an extended period of time. Looks like the search continues. Thoughts?
  5. Bert Browne is the name I am hearing, out of the Lincoln Camp, as a possible candidate. What kind of fit would he be for Lincoln? Would he still be at Madison Central had it not been for the Chuck Smith incident where he took the job and then resigned?
  6. The last time the Garrard County job was open, an assistant from Lincoln County was considered.....Brad Petrey. I wonder if he is one of the candidates?
  7. This was posted recently on the WPBK-FM Facebook page: WPBK-FM Radio Station about an hour ago. Speaking of football...... Chuck Smith is back at Boyle County, Jerry Perry is back at Garrard County and some have suggested Marty Jaggers back at Lincoln County. That would turn time back about 20 years. Would we get 1990's gas prices, too? Wonder if he would be interested?
  8. I am hearing nothing at all, either. I know the spring game is this Friday night. I wonder if they will make an announcement then?
  9. I was surprised to see that in 5A District 7, North Laurel was moved to District 8, while South Laurel stayed in D7. That will pit father vs son when Halan County with Tom Larkey takes on North Laurel and Chris Larkey. Family gatherings will be fun! Both are great coaches and individuals, by the way!
  10. I was told today that there have been several applications submitted for the head coaching position. The committe will now begin researching the applicants. I was not told who they are, nor do I think they will release the names of those who have applied.
  11. PP92 That is what I was told last week and I haven't heard any different. Has anyone else heard anything? It seems pretty quiet.
  12. According the the team roster from last year, Lincoln had more players than almost any of the years that Settles was at Lincoln. I know that the head principal helped Settles to hire 2 assistant coaches who would teach in the high school. The principal also gave him a very flexible class schedule that moved him to the PE department and created an in school weightlifting class. I would think that a coach looking at the position could see that support is there from the principal, and the time that he gave Settles would indicate he is patient. Having said all of that...what realistically be done? They are not going to pay the next coach $90,000. The facilities are more than adequate. What would the new coach need? Those are legitimate questions.
  13. Spring practice begins this week. The spring game will take place on Friday, May 2nd.
  14. Good question. I am trying to find out.
  15. There are rumors floating around that it is a "done deal" with a particular coach, those rumors are not true. There have been numerous inquiries from prospective coaches.
  16. Here is the latest on the process: As of today there are no applicants for the job and the principal, Tim Godbey, is working to put together the search committee who will assist him in the decision. As with most positions, there will be a teaching job tied to it, so the 30 day posting will apply to the teaching position that Coach Settles has resigned from. Settles taught some PE classes and also kept the in school suspension classes. Coach Settles was on WPBK-FM this past Saturday morning and he said that the current assistants are continuing the weight lifting program and will conduct Spring practice when it begins.
  17. IMO, the new coach will be someone with head coaching experience. I don't think any of the current assistants will be considered, and that is no slam on any of them. I just feel Lincoln will go after a current head coach.
  18. I am sorry to see Coach Settles resign. He truley is a fine Christian man who always treated the kids with respect. What he had to deal with over the past couple of years would weigh on anybody. His overall record may not have been that good, but he worked so hard with what he had to try to get the most out of his players. Some of the things that a few of his players (and their parents) said about him is the past, they should be ashamed of. He always had their best interest at heat. He will be missed!
  19. How can you say that Lincoln County did not know where the field was before French went there? Have you forgotten about Larry Phillips and his teams? Included a state runner up in 1990. Or Marty Jagger's and his teams? Including a state runner up in 1993 AND Mr Football Jeremy Simpson? French was good for Lincoln. But his teams did not accomplish what others did.
  20. The district was good enough to send a team to the state finals last year in Pulaski County. And to the semi finals 2 years ago in Southwestern.
  21. In the 45th district, the 2 time defending 12th region champion Lincoln County Lady Pats have to play the All A Classic runner-up Danville Lady Ads...on the Lady Ads home floor. That's gonna be tough.
  22. Can anyone shed some light on what happened at this game last night? I heard that Somerset's varsity did not even play in the 2nd half??
  23. It's actually 14 straight wins for Lincoln. I would say this Lincoln team is as big of a surprise than any team in the state this year. It's all being done with Juniors and one lone Senior.
