  1. Unfortunately, there aren't a lot of BGP members from the Lexington area, for whatever reason.

Its seems like high school athletics aren't widely followed by the Fayette County community. There doesn't seem to be a large following in the stadiums and gyms during the season and not much action on this website either. I guess its too much of a college and little league town!

  2. Letcher Central has to beat Knox Central next week and then hope to slip in on a tiebreaker. I doubt it will happen. I posted in an earlier thread that Letcher Central was really unfortunate in their scheduling the last two seasons. I think they would have had more competitive district games (maybe wins, maybe not) if they hadn't had to play them all at the beginning of the season.

  3. Garrard County has been pointing to this as a potential victory after an extremely tough stretch of games (Paris, Lincoln, Mercer, Clark, Frankfort). Unfortunately for Garrard, injuries have now hit hard and this game will be another tough outing. It looks like Grant has been playing much better this season.

Grant County 21, Garrard County 18

  4. Fulton County has had some good teams in the past ... beat Mayfield's state championship team in 1993 and made the state semifinals that year. And they were pretty competitive for the rest of the 1990s, with everyone but Mayfield.

Fulton City hasn't been a real factor in quite a while ... both schools are just too small to be good every single year.

What if Fulton County and Fulton City consolidated, a la Harrodsburg-Mercer County. Could you see fairly solid teams every season, or would they constantly be up and down? I'm not familiar enough with either program to make a guess.

  5. As for the Moeller/HC & Owensboro/Male yes, they are both cancelled and will not be made up.

The other scores you can get by going to the scoreboard thread that is one of the sticky threads at the top of this forum.

Yeah, those scores aren't posted on the KHSAA website. I had noticed some makeup games in the Herald and Courier-Journal, but there were a few not mentioned.

  6. From this past weekend:

    Breckinridge County vs. Franklin-Simpson

-I heard this game would be made up in two weeks, but need confirmation

    Bullitt Central vs. Nelson County

    John Hardin vs. South Oldham

    Muhlenberg South vs. Heath

    Jenkins vs. Ervinton (Virginia)

Also, are the two western Kentucky games cancelled for good:

    -Cincinnati Moeller vs. Henderson County

    -Owensboro vs. Male

    Thanks!

  7. I certainly am not one to make excuses for a loss, but I personally wonder how the game would've turned out had the clock stopped with 1 second left in the first half as opposed to running out. I can't say that UK would've scored a touchdown, but in the back of my mind it will always be a possibility.

I don't know how that rule works though... Does it take 2 seconds to spike the ball? I mean... I know there's the rule in the NBA that .4 is the least amount of time needed to take a shot, and anything less has to be a tip-in.. But is that a rule in college football, or just a bad decision by the refs?

A problem I had was that when the play ended, there were four seconds on the clock. The referee made a motion to keep the clock moving (he did this to show that the UK player wasn't out of bounds). The only problem was that UK had a first down. The clock should have automatically stopped. There should have been four seconds on the clock when Woodson took the snap to spike.

This didn't lose the game for Kentucky. The Cats likely would have had to kick a long field goal or try a Hail Mary. Its just upsetting to see poor official/time management.

  8. Things seem to be looking up for UK football. I like it. I only saw the first half and #16 on defense impressed me..

#16 is Wesley Woodyard. He's an outstanding linebackers, and only a sophomore.

As for the defense, why did they fall back into prevent at the end of the first half? They had been playing extremely well on defense prior to that. I think that drive gave Florida a great deal of confidence and sent Kentucky into the half reeling a bit. That was the "make or break" play of the game. I don't think Kentucky would have won, but that did little to help the upset bid.

  9. This is a partial list of state champions who finished 15-0. As you can tell, in no season since 1998 has there been all four finishing undefeated.

    1998

    3A: Highlands, 15-0

    1999

    2A: Boyle County, 15-0

    2000

    2A: Boyle County, 15-0

    2001

    2A: Bardstown, 15-0

    3A: Boyle County, 15-0

    2002

    1A: Mayfield, 15-0

    2A: Breathitt County, 15-0

    4A: Trinity, 15-0

    2003

    3A: Boyle County, 15-0

    2004

    None

    2005

    None

*- Again, this is just a partial list. I know Breathitt County was 15-0 in both 1995 & 1996. Danville had a couple 15-0 seasons in the past and I'm thinking Male might have had one as well. I'm pretty sure none of those seasons had multiple undefeated teams.

  10. I think the game will actually be finished at Henry Clay, at least according to WLEX-18. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Friday morning: Game scheduled at Lafayette

Friday night: Game moved to Tates Creek

Saturday morning: Game moved to Henry Clay

Its like a Fayette County tour for the boys from Versailles!

  11. Whitley County and South Laurel took major steps back in the district race this week. Lincoln County has likely established themselves as the top team in the district, although I think when its all said and done, Clark and Madison Central will be much improved as the season goes along. And then don't forget about North Laurel, a definite darkhorse in this district.
