Elliott County 65 Morgan County 53 (62nd District Semifinals)
Agree with you, but with 4 teams, if you are "average", you will win 50% of the time. MC is not even average. At 23% district tourney game win-rate, they have been the bottom of the barrel over an 11 year period. Lots of excuses can be made, but I would prefer a winning coach, not a losing one. Are my expectations too high?

Oh, I agree with you there. Unfortunately.

And if you look at the season stats, Ryan Adams had the highest FG % (of those taking 100+ attempts) at 45.10%. Perry was second at 44.80%. Banks was fifth at a horrendous 36.6%. Evans was 43%, and Prater was 41.5%. So, I ask the logical question, could they have won vs Elliott with better ball movement and shot selection? Yes, they could have. The coach failed to prepare his team to execute a proper game plan, and I think this is why they lost. And this trend has been consistent over the last 11 years. RE:winning % vs. peers. This is why he should be replaced.

By underperform, I mean MC has lost the first game of the district 77% of the time over the last 11 years since they joined the 62nd district. And they have a cumulative winning percentage of 39% for district regular season games during those 11 years. If your goal is to win, he has fallen short over a substantial period of time. Personally, I like to win.

2 guys shot 84% of MCs FGs...was it even worth it for the other players to make the trip from West Liberty to Sandy Hook? Lack of team development throughout the year, possibly? It's very discouraging to consistently see MC underperform year after year-especially when the performance is so obviously related to poor coaching.

Morgan County/Elliott County Updates
3pt game going into the 4th. Gotta give the edge to MC considering they have the best player in the region on their team. If it was >6 I'd be worried. But 1 possession difference, I'm going with MC.

Who hit the full court shot?

Morgan County/Elliott County Updates
If I had to guess, Elliott is forcing MC to execute half court sets and making Perry take contested 14-18 ft jumpers. And make others besides Perry create offense.

Morgan County vs. Elliott County thoughts
Is Chase Porter related to the Porter kid that played back in early 2000's?

Morgan County vs. Elliott County thoughts
I won't be able to make this game tonight, but I'd like to hear everyone's thoughts. Lots of interesting topics coming into play here. Can MC win to secure a spot in the Regional tourny and continue on as the region favorite? Or will Elliott upset them? Also, if MC wins, Perry can continue his scoring quest to be the region's all time leading scorer, passing former Elliott great, Jonathan Ferguson. Will MC avenge thier loss from the 2015 region finals? All of this taking place in the small Elliott county gym, which I know will be rockin'! Wish I could be there!

Elliott County 49 Morgan County 43 (16th Region Championship)
Didn't know the little PG was a freshman. No disrespect to him-I think he's a tough little player. And now knowing how young he is, I'm impressed in his ability. He could develop into a very nice player. Just very frustrating to see a prime opportunity to win a title slip by. Give Elliott credit, though. They were prepared, they executed well, and made nice adjustments as the game went along, and they won because of that. I've just always been confused at watching MC play...it's like they are more concerned with executing a pre-established game-plan, instead of attacking to win or instead of making adjustments based on actual game scenarios. Case-in-point...that offensive scheme. How do you coach an entire season and by the end of the year, have not learned to maximize your talent through appropriate sets/strategies?

Beating a dead horse here because the game is over, but if anything Perry was too unselfish. I would like to see the stats on % turnovers/possessions that the other kids on the team had (excluding Redparth...and Adams for the most part. He doesn't seem to turn the ball over much--side bar--could the coaching staff have at least try to get that kid some more 3 points shots????? He's a good shooter). Perry and Redparth should have been the only 2 that a play is ever run for...occasionally a 3 pointer for Adams. Let the other kids crash the boards for offensive rebounds. I watched the whole game and only saw 2 plays specifically set up for Perry...1-a top of the key ball screen that ended up in a nice 3 pointer that just rimmed out...and another out of bounds play that got an open 3 that he passed up and drove in for a decent layup and just missed. Everything else he had to create on his own...it's the worst offensive scheme i've ever seen. And is there ever a play ran for Redparth? The kid makes a living on getting a rebound and making something happen on his own...help please??? He's athletic, and a slasher...get some ball movement so the defense is a half second late on rotation and swing it to him on the wing so he can slash to the basket and make something happen. And for the love of god, why did that little point guard handle the ball so much when you already have 2 ballhandlers in Perry and Redparth? Get a bigger body in there that can run, set screens, and rebound. In summary, these are all coaching miscalculations. If you want to put the blame of the loss somewhere, put it on the coaching staff. These are small adjustments that would have won the game. You can't blame an entire loss on one player.

Like I said, I haven't seen them play, but does Elliott county have any players that can compete with Perry and Redparth?

Elliott County vs Morgan County 16th Region Championship Predictions
I say this without having seen Elliott play, but I would give the nod to MC if it's a high-possession game because they have Perry & Redparth. Low possession game, I give the nod to Elliott, given their last two low scoring, come from behind wins, whereas MC has given up their large leads in recent fourth quarters due to slowing down the pace of the game.

Elliott County vs Morgan County 16th Region Championship Predictions
Jarvis says it's going to be a knock-down-drag-out, triple overtime win for the Cougars. Both MC coaches get thrown out at end of 1st overtime after questionable 5th foul call on the head coach's son, Jordan. Chris Trusty (former assistant coach), has to step in and coach for the last two overtimes. Down by one with four seconds left in 3rd OT and possession of the ball, he calls time-out and quickly sets up a play to run DJ Sparkman off a triple-picked fence to sink the jumpshot for the win at the buzzer.

Trouble at Rose Hill?
I don't understand why a player would want to play with players younger than him anyway! Why doesn't Mayo play on a freshman AAU team with Walker instead of Walker moving down? Heck, Mayo supposed to be a freshman anyway. This all just bumfuzzles me!
