2026 Ashland Tomcats
Anyone know who Ashland decided to choose in their QB battle?

Ashland Blazer summer league 2026
Ashland did beat SV by a lot, and so did Russell. Those 2 teams will be top tier in the 16th region this year. There were also several Ohio teams playing on Tuesday. More games on Wednesday 6/10 but I’m not sure who is playing. I heard Boyd County is making an appearance.

Ryder Burgess ('28 Russell) Recruiting
Congratulations! This is a great honor for Ryder. He is an incredible player and will make Russell the 63rd district favorites again. If anyone can keep up with Ashland, it's Russell.

Open Job: Fairview
Who would be a good candidate for this role? The program has fallen on hard times! But they've had solid teams in the past after having droughts.

Ashland Blazer summer league 2026
I spoke too soon it seems. I left before it was over but I've been reliably informed that Lawrence County defeated Ashland. Big summer league win for the Bulldogs. The Tomcats had some new faces as well. Very talented young squad and Neal was the best player on the court.

I am not sure of all the teams, but I believe Ashland, Morgan County, West Carter and a few others are playing tomorrow June 3rd. At Ashland.

Maze Stallworth is head girls basketball coach at Taylor County
I agree coaches should be able to pursue better opportunities. It's just when you pair a coach who has done that A LOT with a program that has had coaching changes every year, it magnifies the instability issue. I just think this group of girls deserves stability. I hope Stallworth provides that and I'm wrong! 16th Region Off-Season Discussion (2026-2027)
I saw that our troubled neighbor in Lloyd posted their summer schedule. Has anyone seen summer schedules from other 16th region schools? With all the rumors, it would be interesting to watch who is suiting up in what uniforms and what the new coaches are putting in place at their new schools. Has Lewis, another 63rd rival of ours, even hired a new coach yet??

When I see coaches like this continue to get hired, especially at schools with unbelievable talent, it just irks me. The players deserve stability.

I love the recycle hires with a history of moving jobs every 1 or 2 seasons! Those girls deserve better than a new coach every year. Hopefully Stallworth actually sticks around.

16th Region Off-Season Discussion (2026-2027)
What is everyone’s thoughts on preseason rankings? I’ll take a stab… admit I’m biased but with Russell’s departures I believe the RAMS are poised for a strong season out of the 63rd, but the regional title still runs through Ashland and Boyd County… 1. Ashland- perennial favorites. Enough said. Neel, Owens, and more. 2. Boyd Co- do they reload? Lost a ton but a big time school coming off a region title. New coach, though, in Coach Wallace. He is the protege of legendary Coach Anderson. Is it a smooth transition? 3. Raceland- Big time player in Arnett. Bringing back other pieces on a team that made it to Morehead. Continuity is important. 4. Russell- Things don’t seem as bright with departures (graduating and otherwise) but they’ve been solid now for a while. But Raceland is poised to battle them for the 63rd crown! 5. Elliot Co- Solid season last year at 16-10. 6. East Carter- Can challenge for the 62nd district title. 7. Rowan Co- defending 61st district champs and should be again 8. West Carter- can also challenge in the 62nd 9. Fleming County- don’t return a ton from a mediocre squad, but have one of the best coaches in the region. That makes them dangerous come March 10. Morgan County- rounds out a strong 62nd district 11. Lewis- great season last year but lost a ton and will a new coach— not yet named 12. Greenup County- had a down year and now have yet another new coach 13. Bath Co- struggled last year 14. Menifee Co- new coach…. Coming off a 4 win season 15. Fairview 16. Rose Hill

Greenup County announces Alex Barker as new Head Coach
Congratulations to Coach Barker. He was a very solid player for Fairview in his day. He played extremely hard and was an excellent point guard. The 63rd district will certainly be interesting this year! Russell and Raceland should be the favorites with Greenup and Lewis hiring two new coaches.
