Jason Mays will not be the coach.

I believe job is going to stay open through spring break (next week), and interviews to come after that. Hopefully will have an answer over the next couple of week!

This sounds like someone who is afraid he won't get the job. He is 100% interested and always has been. Heard last time it was open he "pulled himself out" at the end when he realized he wasn't going to get the job.

I can tell you for a FACT that the person contacting Mr. Mays will have no say on who will be hired.

Seems as if there are a lot of people creating false rumors about this job and who is interested.

This is an issue though from what I have heard around the community.

McRay is for sure who I would target. Has done a fantastic job at a school not known for basketball success. I believe Mercer needs to go after a coach that is willing to put roots down and build a sustainable program much like Lincoln, Pulaski and Wayne. Hard to do that when it seems like every 3 years you are hiring a new coach. Mercer County has great resources to be successful in the 12th region, and I think Coach McRay would get the most out of them.

Don't sleep on the Golden Lions. Looked like the 2nd best team in the district the last month of the season!

I would think this has to be the first time in school history that Garrard has won at Boyle, Lincoln and Danville all in the span of 7 days. Terrific week of basketball for the Golden Lions.

45th is a dog fight for seeding. Every team in that district can beat any other district opponent on any given night.

Garrard County picked up a big road win last night at Danville.

I said it because it's true. Somerset led by 4 with under 2 minutes to play and missed free throws down the stretch. The technical was a bad call, but it's not the reason they lost.

Yes, it made a difference. What I meant was it didn't ultimately cost them the game

Boyd leaned on him a good 5 seconds after the whistle and Lewis did a "get off of me" shove. Not aggressive at all. It was a bad call at the time of game. Didn't make a huge difference though because Somerset took back control of the game a few possessions later.

Mercer has struggled to shoot all year. Only play 5 guys on a consistent basis and they all shoot between 25-30% from the three point line. Hard to win games when you can't shoot the ball well from outside. They have won games this year on the other side of the court, allowing the 3rd lowest ppg total in the state. (I believe DCA is 2nd)

SW looked really good last night. Big, physical team peaking at the right time. Will be in a dogfight just to make it out of the district though.

Mercer had a starter injured on Saturday night and would be shocked if he played any this week with the tournament around the corner. Mercer only plays 5 to 6 guys on a consistent basis, so it will be interesting to see how they look this week.
