West working slowly down the field. Hammering over the left side of their line. Several QB keepers. Ball at the 10. East D stiffening up. A little misdirection results in a 6 yard pickup. Currently 4th and 4 from the 4 and West O still on the field, but they take a TO to talk it over. 2:40 left in first half. INT in the endzone! 23 brings it out to the7 but flags fly. Looks like unsportsmanlike brings it back to 3. Post route completed to 4 down and o the 36! Run for a 2 yard pickup. Incomplete deep along the sideline. 3rd and 9 coming up. Incomplete on a roll out as he couldn’t find anyone open. East punt team out. They called intentional grounding beautiful punt and gunner and ball arrive at same time. Flag down for interference moves it to the 40 with 1:17 left for West. Pass completed to the 30 and out of bounds with 44 seconds in the clock. East timeout. Pass out to the left for 9. Roll out. QB dropped for a loss of two. West timeout with 9 seconds on the clock. PI called on a pass over to her middle. Moves ball to the 11 with 5 left on clock. West brings out the FG team. East wants to talk it over. Takes a TO. FG good. 21-17 halftime

East goes to the ground and pounds it down the field. 21-14 East with 8:34 to go in the 2nd.

Squib bounced out of East returners hands and recovered by West at the 18. Run for TD. West pumped up and East needs to calm down. PAT good we got a tie game 14-14 with 11:05 in 2nd qtr.

TD West. Late break to the pass by the safety results in him and WR arriving to the ball at the same time at the goal line, WR won that time. 14-7 PAT was good

Squib kick bobbled by West and almost recovered by East. Ball on 32. Run over LG for 4. 2nd and 6, nice run by West. RPO held East some. Another run by West. TFL of 2. 2nd and 11. QB keeper over left side. Pickup of 3. 3rd and 8. Slant and some action afterwards but now 4th and 2. West going for it from their 40. First down on a run over RT spot. Player down for East. First and ten for West from the 35 when play resumes. 1:07 on clock in the first. Run up gut nets 5. QB rolls left incomplete under pressure. QB keeper is o the left. 1st down. End of quarter. I’m gonna take a break here. Fingers getting cold. ?

West starts at the 30. Run up the middle stuffed. Slant to the right dropped. Tunnel screen for 6. West punting. BIG return to the West 34. East with a short field. End around blown up. Loss of 6. Looked like the handoff was bobbled a little. Harrison with all day to throw. No one open. Dumps out of bounds 3rd and 16. Nice slant screen gets the first down after some juking. Another screen and ball on the 15. Nice catch and run by 8. Harrison to the right corner and a wide open 16. Illegal substitute by West. East now going for 2 again. Ball on the 1. Big gain around right end by 23 moves East to their47. Offsides 1st and 5 and big post route over the shoulder down to the 11! 1st and 10 slant broken up. Run around left end, TD East! 23 runs for 12 to get Jags on the board and East goes for two. Refs said he was down on the 6 inch line. 6-0 East with 8:10 to go in the 1st

After one series each, two straight 3 and outs. East with the ball at the West 33 8:52 in First.

I’m here tonight for the battle of Jessamine. Haven’t really posted the past couple of weeks due to work but I will try to update tonight.

East Jessamine vs West Jessamine tonight. Another big game. Both teams looking to get a district win.

6-0 halftime. MadSouth leads. Both teams missed opportunities in the first half and need to settle down. Emotions of a district game are showing.

Fake punt fails, EJ forces FG in short field, FG is no good off right arm of post. EJ takes over at the 20 under a minute in the half

Sloppy game by both sides. But MadSouth punches it in with 5:03 on the clock in the 2nd qtr. XP is blocked. 6-0 MadSouth over EJ.

Having seen first hand what happened when Dunbar opened up and many from Lafayette went to Dunbar and the Lafayette program began to fall by the wayside (I had a family member who was on the first two Dunbar teams after playing at Lafayette previously), I can say the same thing happened with FD. They capitalized on it and didn’t let football fall by the wayside like Dunbar did. Dunbar benefitted initially from being the new school (a la FD), but then competing interests came into play and administration did not have a plan in place to maintain the initial excitement and decent success. it’s not so much FD getting more benefits or perks, but they have capitalized and maintained and grown their sports programs (generally speaking) and continued the excitement. This draws kids and parents. For Henry Clay, they’ve just basically not fought to minimize the honeymoon period FD enjoyed, and have let themselves stagnate.

Big district game looming Friday on Madison County for 5A District 7. East Jessamine comes in 3-3 and Madison Southern 2-4. East Jess RPI .49109 and Madison Southern .39029. East has wins over Danville, North Bullitt and Russell County while Madison Southern has wins over Henry Clay and Mercer County. East Jessamine’s best wins are Russell and North Bullitt, Madison Southern’s best win is Mercer County. Who y’all got in this one? I’ll be pulling for the Jaguars, but both teams have played a tough non district schedule to get ready for these games. East has a couple injuries they’ve been dealing with but seem to be starting to develop that confidence in themselves they have lacked the past few seasons.

I’m only hearing one side of the story, but I am told that there was an instance in which a Russell player allegedly took one of the East player’s towels and after the game several were taunting an East player (not the owner of the towel) about it as he asked for it back for his teammate. The player was surrounded by members of the Russell County team and ALLEGEDLY a woman jumped into all of this and punched the face of the East player. (NOT a player, to be very clear). East coaches were able to get everyone separated without any further physical activity and then an Russell coach came out of the changing area to get their side squared away also. Police were on scene, no charges filed as I understand it. Again, to be clear, NO Russell players accused of throwing punches or anything (no East players either), but they did surround the East player and allegedly an adult Russell fan hit the East player. They are attempting to see if video captured any of the incident. Just an unnecessary ending to what was a good game with an exciting finish.

Well, I am waiting for more details buttttt, apparently there was after the game action involving Russell fans and a player from East Jessamine. I don’t want to paint either side in the wrong until more is known.

Sounds like East Jessamine Jaguars wants the moniker “Heart Attack Cats”! They’ve had some good comebacks late in games this year to make things interesting. Good halftime adjustments, I’d like a few stress free wins though. Like the Danville game. ? min all seriousness, congrats to the team and coaching staff. They have those boys believing again. Like Coach Fields tells them after every game, just a little better each week. You can watch them start to figure things out with the new staff and O and D schemes a little more each week.

I just jumped on to post this so thank you! I was unable to attend and hate that I missed what sounds like a good game! I’ll learn details later and post here unless someone else does.

33-23 Garrard over East final. Disappointing end, East had this game but let it slip. Learn and grow.

East caught a break. Long TD called back on holding. The flag was thrown early in the play. But time is running out. 2nd and 20 3:12 in game. Need stops. Garrard content to run and take time. East calls the first time out. 3:05. 3rd and 15 to go.

TD Garrard up 33-23. East marches down the field, tipped pass is intercepted at the 12. Garrard ball. They’re starting to lean on their O line size now.
