  1. I find it highly unlikely that Pikeville would willingly breach a contract. The Panthers had an open spot to fill in its 2024 schedule and the two teams agreed to a one-year contract. The new cycle for two-year deals in KY started with the 2025 season, so logistically, they couldn’t agree to a 2-year contract with Ironton because that would mean they would have to find another opponent for a one-year deal for the 2026 season. That wouldn’t make any sense. As far as the game, neither team dominated the other. It was tied 27-27 half way thru the 4th quarter. Ironton converted a 4th and 22 to take the lead. Pikeville had to try and answer fast and failed to do so. Ironton capitalized on their mistakes and took a comfortable lead. Yes, Pikeville scored late, but the final score is by no means an indication of how the game was played. Both teams fought hard and played a very competitive game.
  2. The contract was for one year. That’s why there’s no game scheduled for next year.
  3. The officiating was terrible for both teams. I’ll say this, if Pikeville’s special teams had played decent at all, they would’ve won that game. The TD on 4th and 22 won the game for Ironton. It was 27-27 at that time, half way thru the 4th quarter. Kudos to Pikeville, CalPreps had them losing 42-3. They fought hard for 3.5 quarters. Clean up special teams and the mental mistakes, and they’re the best team in Class A. After the gauntlet of a schedule they just finished, I’m sure they’re happy to see the bye week. The Panthers finally have time to rest and heal up, and then it’s off to district play. I was very, very impressed with Pikeville tonight.
  4. Yep, game will be streamed on Mountain Top Media. As for my prediction, Pikeville will have to play a mistake-free game and hope for a few turnovers from Ironton to have a chance. If Pikeville was 100% healthy, I’d give them a fighter’s chance, but since they’re not and the talent Ironton is bringing in, I hate to say I see Ironton winning this game, 35-13.
  5. Pikeville welcomes Ohio power Ironton Friday night. The Panthers are coming off an impressive win against GRC on Saturday afternoon. Who wins this matchup?

  7. Pikeville holds on 4th down. Panthers ball at their own 41.
  8. GRC punts. Pikeville ball at its own 6. 9:48 in the 2nd.
  9. Kickoff in 5 minutes. I’ll update when I can.
  10. Pikeville will travel to Harlan County this Friday for a matchup with the Black Bears. The Panthers (1-4) are coming off a loss to Belfry while Harlan County (1-3) lost to Lawrence County. Who wins this matchup of 1A vs 5A?
  11. Belfry TD. 35-21. 5:54 to go in the game.
  12. Belfry punts. 11:00 to go in the game, 28-21 Belfry.
  13. Touchdown Pikeville. 28-21, 1:30 in 3Q.
  14. Touchdown Belfry. 28-14, 2:15 in 3Q.
  15. Pikeville fumbles. Belfry 1st down.
  16. Touchdown Belfry. 21-14, 5:27 in the 3Q.
  17. Belfry scores and ties it up. 14-14, 38 seconds in the 2nd.
