If it is going to be Joe Morris why the delay?
Morris is a AD there and has legacy clout on top of his own achievements. Plus football is king at Mayfield so within reason he gets a long leash to do what he wants. I don't think there is a delay. The job is posted, so they're accepting applications, and they're probably starting with some initial interviews. The only delay is the announcement from Morris.
And I've been told the same stuff about him retiring, wait wait no, going and taking a college job, wait wait no, retiring and taking a job in Tennessee. Not sure which is true there but he apparently wants to handle this as a passing of the torch instead of a regular old retirement, hiring search and then new hire. He's handling the new hire anyway.- 1

Hallock posted on the KHSAA open job page on 1-8 looking for a DC and then the school listed the HC job on the KHSAA on 1-25. Surely Jackson County didn't fire him right?

Mentioned in the Christian Co thread, there's a Clarksville HS assistant who's interested in one of the two jobs open in the district.
-
Everything I've heard is that the Joe Morris days at Mayfield are done.

There's apparently an assistant coach from Clarksville HS who is interested in getting one of the two Christian Co jobs.

Hatchell is in play now. Dew is too.
So is Morris done then?

Talk about his retirement, or his "retirement"?
About the fact that he will not be the Mayfield head football coach any longer.

I have someone reliable who told me Morris is waiting on the opportunity to talk to his players about his retirement. Hasn't been able to get because of all the complications from the tornadoes.
The job was posted so the hire could be finalized asap.

What do we know about Coach Dew?
Cliff Dew. Teaches at Mayfield Elementary. He's the DC right now, and the linebacker & Oline coach.
Started at Mayfield in the early 00s, left for a head coach spot in Mississippi for a couple of years and came back to Mayfield in '09 or '10. He's from Mississippi originally. Played foosball at Ole Miss.

This is coach Dew's job if he wants it.

Same! I actually follow him more when storms are tracking than any of the paid meteorologists.
Definitely. I'm kind of sparse in posting, especially in the non-sport forums, but I definitely check on here when there are major storm systems expected or coming through. I'm glad you're hanging around @nWo.

I guess that's true. But we sure tried hard to.
The Colonels didn't care to play football tonight.
What's the motto? With a spirit that occasionally shows up? With a spirit that sometimes tries? I think that's it.

The elephant tusk is the dumbest thing I have ever seen.
I know I'm not a high schooler. I don't get turnover chains or wrestling belts, and don't even get me started on how little sense carrying sledge hammers around makes, but the garbage can Highlands had was really really dumb, and Sphire managed to one-up that with the stick.

Okay so I have to ask, have heard for three years the frosh teams were more than solid, yet when transitioning to varsity football something happens. What is it?
Maybe now that they have that big piece of wood to get excited about, things might get better when Highlands kids move up from freshman to jv and varsity.

The play calling on Dixie's last possession after recovering the onside kick was puzzling.
The play calling at Dixie is consistently puzzling.

So which player gets to run onto the field with that chunk of wood after this week? What's it called? The tooth pick?

Wow! Sad it came to this.
It sounds as if DaMarcus Smith was never even hired as the head coach either.
In a different letter to the KHSAA the Evangel superintendent said "Mr. Smith is not an employee of Evangel. If he were, he would be terminated."- 1

Football program has been dissolved. Sounds like the superintendent is stating that DaMarcus Smith was never officially hired as football coach either, despite attempting to recruit players from other high schools while claiming to be the coach. Brandon Bender has also been terminated, and appears to have admitted to falsifying information on Kyran Tilly's eligibility application to the KHSAA by alleging that Tilly's family stated he was "subjected to abuse by his coach at his former school."
Interesting stuff. Interesting stuff. -
Evangel dissolved their football program.

Douglass reached out to Danville on Tuesday afternoon but they never returned the call. Also was on the phone with Eastern when they took a game with South Warren.
N Hardin reached out to Douglass this week and offered to host on Friday after traveling to Douglass last year and Douglass waved them off.

What were the honor code charges? That could be anything. Was he charged with anything legally or just booted from the Navy because he didn’t make his bed properly too many times.
Vito is innocent until proven guilty, isn’t he?
Nacarius made some bad decisions. He’s doing damn good in his second chance at life. He served his time for his mistakes.
I say all this to say that every high school in the nation has students who go on to do dumb stuff. These three just happened to have been stars at the high school level. Some high school stars get caught. Others don’t.
10 minutes ago, Purple88 said:Vito Tisdale is a sophomore in college. There are conflicting reports on if there was a gun there or not according to @PurplePride92 above.
Jamale Carothers is a senior in college. I do not have any inside info into the "honor code" violation.
Nacarius Fant wasn't at WKU when he was arrested on drug charges.
I point this out for a couple reasons:
1. Does Coach Wallace and Coach Spader need to follow these guys around and make sure they keep their noses clean? That's unrealistic.
Should these guys have not put themselves in poor situation and made poor choices? Absolutely. But before you go casting stones, take a look in the mirror to see if you every made mistakes or put yourself in a poor situation at this age.
The truth will come out on Vito and if he's guilty he should pay the penalty, but hold BGHS accountable for that? Come on man...
Is it a black eye for BGHS, yes. But to vet them because of this. No. What about Jordan and Justis Dingle. What about Jordan Meredith? What about Terry Taylor? And many others I can mention.
2. These players didn't exhibit this type negative behavior at Bowling Green. If they did, let me know about it. At some point, you are accountable for your actions as an adult. Vito, Jamale and Nacarius are accountable for their actions.
Innocent until proven guilty.
I'm not trying to say in the least that kids from BGHS are bad kids. Like I said, it's just a really bad look for the school and football program.
And I looked up honor code offenses, FWIW. The honor code at the Naval Academy is a set of formalized codes written to require midshipmen to honor integrity by refusing to "lie, cheat, or steal." So Carothers seemingly would have had to have either lied, cheated, or stolen to get dismissed for violation of the honor code. It's not an issue of him not making his hospital corners well enough on his bed in the morning.
-
Yikes! Big time football players out of BGHS haven't had a good look in recent years. Jamale Carothers gets booted from Navy for honor code violations, Vito Tisdale facing burglary and wanton endangerment charges here, and Nacarius Fant was found guilty on drug trafficking charges.

I've got it in pretty good info that they hired either a new principal or superintendent of schools for Evangel. When the new principal/supt asked why they weren't playing KHSAA football, the answer was "we have too many players that are ineligible to play KHSAA football".
When she was given that answer, her response was "Well I guess we aren't playing football then."
End of story.

Open Job: Hopkinsville
in KY Football (High School)
Posted
WKYFootball nailed it. What makes anyone want to go for a job where they're guaranteed to have to compete against another candidate to keep the job in a year? Hoptown and Christian Co are both in a crap position making lame duck hires.
I don't think they'll get a good coach with head coach experience for this job, or for the Christian Co job. Only chance I see either of these two jobs having any kind of qualified, experienced head coach get hired is if that head coach is looking at retiring.
