  1. Every program Kevin Wallace has stepped in, he’s taking it to NEW HEIGHTS. While at Warren East, he beat BG. While at BG he appeared in multiple state championship games before hauling off an historical win streak and winning 3 state championships back to back to back before winning another two back to back. During his first season at St. X, he beat Trinity. Many thought Kevin would not be able to get the job done. He got the job done. Kevin is one of the top coaches in the state of Kentucky, if not the top. Transitioning from Public school to Private school, while achieving the highest honor for teams in football shouldn’t be taken for granted. Kevin is part of the reason why WCPS had to build a mega school to compete with BG. He is also the reason why St. X is back relevant. Kevin Wallace. One of the Greats of HIS TIME!
  2. Great hire by Warren Central. This will bring the program some stability for the time being. His coaching staff includes former Portland (TN) head coach Greg Cavanah, Walter York, Burt Stinson and former Warren Central coach Joe Hood – the man the field is named after. While this staff brings over 100 years of experience combined, how well will they connect with the youth and the population of the kids that they’re coaching. Warren Central is a predominantly minority school. The coaches listed may be in their early 60s with the oldest being in his 70s. This is a new age of football. The age gap and the ability to relate to the young people is something to take into consideration. I will be more than interested to see who else they will add to their staff and if they will bring in young coaches that can relate to the youth that they’re coaching. This staff will work for the short term, but they will need to start grooming the next young man to sustain true stability for the long term. Good luck Dragons!
  3. That is correct! He was at Greenwood before South Warren.
  4. Hearing that Warren Central will be naming a new Head Coach this week. Not sure who, but many are saying they missed out on hiring Coach Clark. Could it be Mark Nelson? His name has been thrown around. We will be finding out soon about this hire. If all above is true, Warren Central missed out on a great young hire. He will be a great option for any HS Program looking for someone who can build a program from the ground up. This won’t be the last time you hear his name in the coaches circuit. He’s definitely a hometown hero. Best of luck to the Dragons!
  5. Definitely an interesting option. I believe he has the abilities to recruit coaches across the area to come in and support what he’s already doing. If he hires a quality staff of young and old. He may have the recipe as far as getting the wheels at WC rolling forward in the right direction. The possible hire of Tyreon Clark would be similar to the one South Warren made with Brandon Smith when he took over for Mark Nelson at the age of 27. The young recipe worked out well for the crosstown Spartans. I would say that this would be the same for the Dragons. I can’t recall of a time, where a young man has the influence he has over the whole community.
  6. He’s definitely a guy that could change the program’s direction at WC. He is no longer at BG. I believe he was on the sidelines this year with Moss as their Head coach and assistant at WC. This was a big pick up for the WC program. They loved him at Purple Nation. Tyreon Clark played at BG from ‘06-‘09 & Austin Peay from ‘10-‘13. He spent some time in the program at BG from ‘14-‘20. If not mistaken, he had at least 2 state championships as an assistant at BG.
  7. Agree. They didn’t play Bowling Green or South Warren last year. This helped them gain some ground as far as competing goes. They may need to remove Greenwood as well. If they could schedule better on the varsity level and put together a JV & Freshman/Sophomore schedule for the next few years this program can make some serious strides. Their middle school program has had some success in the past. Their coach who left for South Warren this past summer, made some great progress while there. The new guy they brought in has done the same. It seems as if they have a solid feeder system, they must fight to keep their kids away from BG, SW, GW and WE. Right now they have been picked a part by these programs. If Warren Central figures out a way to win and keep their kids, they will have no problems fighting their way back to the top. Go Dragons!
  8. Great post. From what I’ve heard in Southern Kentucky, they have a middle school Head Football Coach who came over from Bowling Green High this past summer. He served under Kevin Wallace & Mark Spader as Special Teams Coordinator. He also served as the Head Coach for BGHS Track and Field. They say he is a young and passionate leader on and off the field. If this is true, Warren Central may not have to look too far to find their guy.
  9. A Louisville and Kentucky High School Football Legend! Rest In Peace Coach Scroggins!
