I think Highlands did the Belichick method of taking away what they do best (Running the ball with Leen). So what was open for the colonels was QB draw and short outside passing. I thought Cov Cath was pretty effective with the short range passing. #2 for Cov Cath was a really good receiver, they should have figured out some more ways to get him the ball. The game changer was the two flubs in a row. The safety and kicking it directly to Noon. After that TD return the Cov Cath energy just dropped and they were a little shell shocked and were playing at like 80%. In reality the two teams looked and played pretty evenly to me.

We may be on the precipice of a back-and-forth rivalry era. Which is fun.

I gotta say this was kind of an upset on their own field and the Colonel fans are, as always, as classy as you can be congratulating and being really high road. Great rivalry. 2 great communities. I hope the birds and Colonels meat again.

Haha. Frisk was so good. He was Probably the best high school football player I’ve seen play.

Not many people know this but if one person is laying on Highlands' 50 yard line and another person is laying on Cov Cath's 50 yard line..... They can hear each others whispers.... It's from the dark magic Justin Frisk put on both fields with a dip spit ritual. Look it up.

You have to make a sacrifice to the volcano during pre-game or you are setting yourself up for disaster.

Yeah I was a junior benchwarmer for Highlands for the Mud Bowl.. I was pretty oblivious to the coaches play calling. The weird play calling thing I do remember was WR Josh Hasson was lining up at RB for some reason. Not because of the Gibson injury, we had practiced it all week.

I don’t remember the play calling stuff… The whole first half the weather was nice and the game was all Highlands. Then within the same drive Noah Gibson was injured and a downpour started on a field that was already beat up …..

Is it going to be hard to get in this game? If I just roll up trying to buy a ticket to get in will I be ok?

That’s like the 1997 Highlands team, they were crazy good too. Kuhnhein, Stegman, Schear, Lindeman, Pogue, Stinson. And Lorenzen, Smith, Gibson, Ulbricht as juniors. 92 was reversed mud bowl.

Do playoff matchups automatically have an edge on regular season games? Yes.

That one was a pretty crazy game. There was kind of a "reverse mud bowl" in 1992. Cov Cath was supposed to be one of best teams in KY regardless of class. They had a really good QB, Hlad I think was the name. Cov Cath blasted Highlands in the regular season game like 45-6. Then the playoff game in Park Hills was a downpour and the field was slop. I believe Highlands won 7-6 or something with the key play being a kick return by now Highlands coach Mike Welch.
