  1. Here is your 8th Region rankings and review week 7.

    1. North Oldham (15-2)
North Oldham continues to dominate this season. Now winners of seven straight, the Mustangs haven’t lost since December 22nd. Grant Neal dominated this week in wins over Shawnee, Evangel Christian, and North Hardin with 25, 33, and 41 points respectfully. They look to keep things rolling with this week a game at CAL Tuesday, and then a big district game on the road Friday against Oldham County.

    2. Woodford County (13-3)
Woodford went 1-1 on the week with a 5 point win over Washington Co before facing a 7 point setback against 13th region favorite Harlan Co. Layton Starks led the way against Washington with 22 on the night. The Yellow Jackets take on Shelby Co at home on Friday before facing the states top team in Lyon County at Scott Co in the Dan Cummins Classic on Saturday.

    3. South Oldham (9-6)
The Green Dragons are now winners of 7 straight as they had a big week with a big district win over Oldham County in OT. They were led by Christian Veirs and Julian Miles who went for 27 and 26 together. South Oldham hasn’t dropped a game since December 21st. They look to continue their winning ways against Owen County Saturday in the Henry County Classic.

    4. Oldham County (13-5)
Oldham Co had been rolling before a setback in OT against South Oldham. This was a big district game so Oldham needs to rebound as they host North Oldham Friday at home in a big game for seeding. The Colonels also had a 28 point win over Williamstown and a 9 point win over Walton Verona this week. Max Green had a big week with 30, 26, and 35 in the three games this week. The Colonels also play Anderson Co at Henry County on Saturday.

    5. Walton Verona (14-5)
WV went 1-1 on the week with an 11 point win over Simon Kenton and an 11 point loss to Oldham County. The win over SK put’s Walton Verona at 1-0 in the district so far this year. The Bearcats will host Cov Cath Tuesday night, then travel to Williamstown on Friday.

    6. Spencer County (8-8)
Spencer Co went 1-0 on the week with a 12 point win over Shelby County at home. They were led by a balanced scoring attack which saw six players score 8+ points. Spencer goes to Bullitt Central Tuesday, then hosts Collins on Friday. They wrap the week up against Grant Co at Henry Co in the Henry Co Classic on Saturday.

    7. Shelby County (10-7)
Shelby Co went 1-1 on the week with a 9 point win over Valley and a 12 point loss to Spencer Co. Dillon Ritchey and Michael Jones led the way over Valley with 21 points a piece. The Rockets host the Kentucky Christian Knights on Tuesday, then go to Woodford County Friday in a big matchup.

    8. Gallatin County (11-5)
The Wildcats went 1-0 on the week with a 32 point drubbing over Carroll County. The win saw 10 players get in the scoring column and 12 players get PT. Gallatin hosts Eminence tonight, then they travel to Owen County Thursday and Augusta on Friday.

    9. Williamstown (11-3)
The Demons went 2-1 on the week with a 28 point setback to Oldham County, but then bounced back with a 25 point win over Heritage Academy and a 5 point win over Henry County. Colton Feagan had a monster week with a 39 point game against Oldham Co, then 39 and 35 to wrap up the last two. He currently sits towards the top of the states ranks in all scoring categories as he averages 29.6 a game. The Demons will travel to Simon Kenton Tuesday, then host Walton-Verona on Saturday.

    10. Anderson County (12-5)
The Bearcats continue to put together a nice season as they go 2-0 on the week with a 13 point win over Bullitt Central and a 12 point win over Collins. Treyton Hart led the way in scoring over Bullitt Central with 20 and Carson Sutherland led the way against Collins with 22. Anderson Co hosts Bethlehem Tuesday, goes to Bluegrass Untied on Thursday, then faces off against Oldham County on Saturday.

    Best of the Rest:

    11. Collins (8-9)

    12. Simon Kenton (5-11)

    13. Owen County (8-7)

    14. Grant County (8-8)

    15. Henry County (10-8)

    16. Carroll County (3-10)

    17. Trimble County (3-13)

    18. Eminence (3-11)

  2. An exciting week in 13th region basketball. Harlan County continues to solidify they are one of the top teams in the state. Williamsburg went on a nice run to win the All A for the 13th Region. Bell County finally faced their first loss of the year. Corbin put together a nice week and Red Bird picked up their first win on the season. I feel pretty solid about the top 5.. 6-10 is where things get weird. Here is your 13th Region rankings and reviews from Week 7.

    1. Harlan County (18-2).
Another week that passes, another perfect week. HC started this week by beating previously undefeated Bell County by 19, then a 39 point win over Middlesboro, and then wrapped the week up with a 7 point win over 8th Region power Woodford County. If I’m not mistaken I believe I read somewhere that Maddox Huff set the HC record for 3’s in a game in the win over Middlesboro. Harlan County is absolutely rolling right now and look to keep it moving with a game against Harlan at home on Friday.

    2. Corbin (10-4)
Corbin put together a really nice week with a big district win at South Laurel by 11. Connor Middleton led the way in that one with 21 and 7 on 80% shooting from the field. They then wrapped up the week with a 36 point win over Jackson County and a 10 point win over Madison Southern. The Redhounds have won four straight and try to keep it rolling as they go to Whitley County Tuesday and host South Laurel Friday in two games that will likely decide if they finish with the top seed in district.

    3. South Laurel (10-5)
South is currently on a 3 game losing streak and are struggling without Jordan Mabe. The only reason they don’t drop more is because the teams under them also had tough weeks. SL had a 11 point loss against Corbin then wrapped up the week with a 7 point loss to Evangel Christian. All eyes are currently on their big road game against Corbin this Friday. I’m not sure how long Jordan Mabe is out but they will really need him if they look to knock off a solid Corbin bunch at their place.

    4. Bell County (16-2).
It was bound to happen eventually but the Bobcats finally faced their first loss of the season. In this case it was a 19 point loss to Harlan County at home, then they were beat by Boyd County by 2 in OT in the 2A in a game where they led most of the way. In the Boyd County game no one else played but the five starters. You can’t help but feel Bell needs to build some sort of depth if they’re going to be a dark horse in the 13th region. Bell has two big district games this week, the first against Harlan at home on Tuesday, and then they host Middlesboro on Friday.

    5. North Laurel (6-10)
North Laurel picked up the win in their only game on the week by beating Madison Central by 16. Reece Davidson finished with 19, Brody Brock with 15, and Kole Jervis with 13. The Jaguars have slowly kept improving and I think can be a real dark horse team come region time. NL has a chance to essentially wrap up the district this week as they host Jackson Co Tuesday, and then go to Clay County on Friday. If they win those 3 then they will likely be the top seed in the 49th.

    6. Clay County (9-7)
To add to the Clay County drama of this season I’ve now heard that Landon Dezarn has enrolled in Jackson County. Only time will tell if this happened. Clay knocked off Sevier County TN this week by 4 in a game where Hayden Harris led all scorers with 24. Clay desperately needs a big week this week if they’re going to contend for the top seed in the 49th. They are supposed to host OBI tonight but with the snow I could see this one being rescheduled. They then host North Laurel Friday.

    7. Knox Central (12-5)
Knox went 0-1 on the week with a 3 point loss at Perry County Central. Grayson Burton had a huge game with 25, and Gavin Chadwell manned the middle with 16 and 15. You would’ve liked to have seen the panthers be able to get the win on the road but they’re having a solid year this year. The Panthers are supposed to host Harlan tonight and then Bourbon County on Friday for the week.

    8. Williamsburg (10-8).
If there was a team of the week this week it would be Williamsburg Yellow Jackets. After going through a lull mid December, the ‘Burg has gotten hot. It started with a 20 point win over OBI in the 13th region All A semi’s, then carried over into a 3 point win over Harlan to win the 13th Region All A. They carried that momentum and did something probably no one saw them doing and knocked off Whitley County at home by 1 to cap off a great week. Andrew Smith led the way in the All A finals with 21 and 9. The Yellow Jackets look to keep their winning ways going with a game against Knoxville Ambassadors Tuesday, Jackson City Thursday, then I.A.M. TN at home on Saturday.

    9. Whitley County (13-3).
Whitley probably didn’t have to fall so far, but it was tough to rank them ahead of a team they just lost to. They will have their chances to move back up the rankings in the coming weeks. This is still a team that only has 3 losses on the year and has been playing good basketball. Whitley has lost two straight against Bell and Williamsburg, but look to get back in the win column as they host Corbin Tuesday, and then Lynn Camp Friday.

    10. Harlan (4-10)
Harlan gets the nod here over Pineville from their win over them in the All A in OT. Kyler McLendon had a monster game with 47 points in the win. They did drop their next game by 3 in the finals against Williamsburg. The Green Dragons have a big week this week with a game at Knox today, at Bell Co tomorrow, and at Harlan Co Friday. If they can win 2 of these 3 it would do a lot for this young team moving forward.

    Best of the Rest:

    11. Pineville (10-5)

    12. Jackson County (6-8)

    13. OBI (8-7)

    14. Middlesboro (6-8)

    15. Barbourville (5-12)

    16. Lynn Camp (3-11)

    17. Red Bird (1-8)

@TimeWillTell rumors are true. A couple of players from Owensboro have transferred to Aces unfortunately. Crowe, Winstead and Maddox are the ones I know of forsure but I hear there will be more to follow. I don’t know what’s going on at the OHS but it’s not looking good as far as player retention goes.

Looks like according to Twitter, that Winstead went to FL.

In general I agree except at QB and especially at the bigger class schools.

I can see that viewpoint. At the same time though, Jagger Gillis played FS then LB for Boyle for his two rings. Sage Dawson played corner both years for his. Brady Atwell dominated at LB for O Cath. Let your players play.

Highly unlikely at CCH. During Eviston's tenure, the 2021 season is the only year a QB got any reps on defense, and that is because there wasn't a clear starting QB.

Gotcha. I’m a believer in your best 11 on each side need to play, regardless of where they play on O/D.

  6. Here is your 8th Region rankings and review week 6. Still familiarizing myself with these teams. One thing I’m learning though is these guys win a lot of games.

    1. North Oldham (12-2).
The Mustangs went 1-0 on the week with a resounding 31 point win over Holy Cross. Five players scored in double digits and the mustangs shot 63.6% from the field. North Oldham is back in action Monday against Shawnee, Tuesday against Evangel Christian in a big time matchup, and Friday against North Hardin with all these games being at home.

    2. Woodford County (11-2)
The Yellow Jackets were also perfect on the week with a 10 point win over Spencer County and a 16 point win over Tates Creek. The win over Spencer moves Woodford to 2-0 within the district. WoFo takes on Washington County at home Wednesday, before traveling to South Laurel to take on 13th region favorite Harlan County on Saturday in a big time matchup.

    3. Oldham County (11-4).
The Colonels are now winners of 7 straight after going 2-0 last week. The Colonels took down Ballard by 11 and Sayre by 28. I don’t know a ton about Williamstown, but I’d say the game Tuesday will tell if they are for real or not. Oldham also plays South Oldham Friday, and then Walton-Verona Saturday. This will tell me a lot about how these middle of the pack teams rank up.

    4. Walton Verona (13-4)
The Bearcats went 3-0 on the week with all three wins being in the 8th Region all A. The icing on the cake was the 15 point win over Gallatin County. WV will play Simon Kenton this Friday, then play Oldham County on Saturday in two big time region games back to back.

    5. Spencer County (7-8)
Spencer went 1-1 on the week with a 50 point win over Henry County and a 10 point loss to Woodford. 3 of the Bears losses this year have been by 2 points. It seems like they’re in close games but can’t finish them out. I’ll know if I nailed the 5 and 6 rankings when Shelby comes to town on Friday. This is the only game for Spencer this week.

    6. Shelby County (9-6).
The Rockets went 2-1 on the week with two region wins against Anderson by 15 and Carroll by 25. They also faced a 8 point setback to South Oldham. Shelby plays Valley at home on Tuesday before going to Spencer County on Friday. This is a big district game that will get one of the two the leg up on the other.

    7. Gallatin County (10-5)
Gallatin went on a nice run in the 8th region all A with wins over Cornerstone Christian and previous 9-1 Williamstown before falling to Walton-Verona by 15 in the finals. Matthew Griffin led the way in the loss with 29. The Wildcats will take on Carroll Co on the road Tuesday before playing Henry County at home on Friday.

    8. Williamstown (9-2)
The Demons had just their second loss on the year as their time in the 8th Region all A came to a close quick. There’s no time to hang their heads as they look to rebound in a big week with games at Oldham County on Tuesday, Heritage Academy Thursday, and at Henry County on Saturday.

    9. Simon Kenton (5-9)
The Pioneers are still struggling to figure it out after facing a 34 point setback at Bryan Station this past week. Simon Kenton will have played nine straight away games as they wrap up this week with games at Lloyd Memorial on Tuesday, and at Walton-Verona Friday.

    10. South Oldham (8-6)
I’m going to have the Dragons round out the top 10. Winners of 6 straight, and had two wins against Shelby Co by 8 and Collins by 38 this week. The Dragons are playing good basketball. They look to continue their winning ways against Oldham County on Friday this week.

    Best of the Rest:

    11. Anderson County (10-5)

    12. Collins (6-8)

    13. Owen County (7-6)

    14. Grant County (8-6)

    15. Henry County (9-7)

    16. Carroll County (3-9)

    17. Trimble County (3-12)

    18. Eminence (3-10)

  7. Here is your 13th Region rankings and reviews from Week 6.

    1. Harlan County (15-2).
Another week goes by, another perfect week. This time against region foes Corbin and North Laurel. The Black Bears beat Corbin by 6 and NL by 7. Trent Noah had 31 and 30 in each game. The Black Bears continue to show it’s going to take a near perfect game to knock them off. This week they start district play against the undefeated Bell County Bobcats Tuesday and play another district game against Middlesboro Friday before taking on Woodford Saturday.

    2. Bell County  (16-0)
One of the few undefeated teams in the state, Bell County keeps rolling along. This time with two overtime wins this week over Knox Central and Daniel Boone TN, then a 2 point win over Whitley County in the final of the 2A sectional. Bell takes on Harlan County at home and can really put the region and the state on notice if they can win this one. That’s their only game this week.

    3. Corbin (7-4).
Corbin had one of the more impressive weeks in the 13th region with a commanding 21 point win over Danville Christian and a 4 point win over Ashland Blazer. They played Harlan County close as well before eventually losing by 6. Corbin has a big game Tuesday as they look to take the district back from South Laurel, then they take on Jackson County at home Friday, and Madison Southern on Saturday at South Laurel.

    4. South Laurel (10-3).
South started off the week with a 15 point win over Harlan before taking one on the chin against Boyle County by a score of 27-54. Jordan Mabe left the game in the second quarter and the Cardinals could never really rebound. I’m not sure on his status, but for his sake and for the teams sake they need him as the Redhounds come to town Tuesday which will tell more of the 3rd and 4th place rankings. South wraps up the week against Evangel Christian at home.

    5. Whitley County (13-2)
Whitley started the week off with an 11 point win over McCreary in the 2A before falling on a last second shot to Bell Co in the 2A. Whitley looks to rebound Friday as they make the short trip to Williamsburg to open up district. Whitley is another team that has won a lot of games but the schedule hasn’t been great so far. They will eventually have the chance to make a statement.

    6. North Laurel (5-10)
It was bound to happen and I’m going to make it happen this week with NL shooting up the rankings. Don’t be fooled by the 10 losses. Some of these losses include some of the states top 25 teams. North Laurel beat Clay County at home this week to show the 49th still runs through them. They also played Harlan County tough before eventually falling by 7. I don’t know if I believe NL can win the region, but I do think they can play spoiler when they’re hot. The Jags will play Madison Central at home Tuesday as their only game of the week.

    7. Clay County (8-7)
Clay had a chance to make a statement this week and couldn’t pull it off against the Jags. After dropping that game by 4, then lost to DCA by 7. I’m not ready to write off Clay yet, but I do think there are some internal issues they have to take care of. If they take care of that and get hot, then I think they can make some noise. This week they play Saturday in the Raymond Reed Classic against Sevier County.

    8. Knox Central (12-4).
I love seeing the Panthers continue to do well. They were 2 points in OT from taking down undefeated Bell County in the 2A sectional. They finished the week strong though with wins over Red Bird and McCreary Central. Chadwell didn’t play against McCreary and it was good to see some other players step up in his void. The Panthers play Tuesday at Perry County, then take on Cordia Friday.

    9. Pineville (10-4).
Pineville went 2-0 on the week with wins over Thomas Walker and a 2 point win over Jackson Co in the All A. Pineville returns to action in the All A Monday against Harlan, and if they win that they play Tuesday.

    10. Jackson County (6-7)
Jackson lost a heartbreaker to Pineville 58-60 in the All A Classic. They were led by a balanced scoring attack which saw Keagan Ward score 16, Peyton Singleton score 15, Carter Cunagin score 12, and Corey Cunagin score 10. The Generals are back in action Friday as they travel to Corbin.

    Best of the Rest:

    11. OBI (8-6)

    12. Middlesboro (5-7)

    13. Williamsburg (7-8)

    14. Harlan (3-9)

    15. Barbourville (5-11)

    16. Lynn Camp (2-10)

    17. Red Bird (0-7)

French, interesting.  That is a name I’ve not heard for this position.  PC is too big for Stonebreaker, his stint as Wolford Co. was not very good.   PC middle school program is larger than some 3A and 4A programs, so I think Wooldridge has to be considered.  If Foley wants to come over, then he has earned it but not sure how if he would.  Still can’t count out Russell.

Russell has a zero percent chance of getting the job.

Doesn't Foley have "home ties" to PC though? I know that sounds crazy because they are in the same county but, no matter what home is home, no matter if it's in the same county or not.

Jumper Dad nailed it. He may hear PC out, but I’d say a 0% chance he leaves.
