Honestly I thought Clay have won this game walking away…..and they did in the first half then fell apart in the 2nd. NL has zero inside presence and Clay exploited it early. NL strength is perimeter and guard play and it finally showed late in the game. Verdict is out on which team would win on a neutral floor but neither will be a factor at region in my opinion

    Agreed.

I've heard Eddie James mentioned a few times in discussions.

Tonight I had someone tell me that after multiple rounds of interviews, Pulaski County has informed current Boyle County defensive coordinator Travis Burns that they have opted to go with current Franklin County head coach Eddie James for their hire. It's been a fairly reliable source for me, historically, so I suppose we'll see in the next couple-few days how accurate that info is.

Burns has not been contacted with that information.

Hearing from some pretty reliable sources now that Burns might not be the shoe in that everyone thinks.

Apparently there has been an applicant that has stayed on the low that has a pretty impressive resume.

Who knows though, it’s all talk when a job like this is posted.

I still fully expect the new HC to be announced Tomorrow.

Did the new applicant "fly" under the radar?

I look at this different, while an early workout may not have a ton of bearing on someone's system, it will have a bearing so I think exactly what @DearToday described is what should be done.  In that case everyone stays consistent only some workouts in the morning are heavy workouts and some workouts in the morning are a light prep for a game later in the day.

I would say the football coaches want to see the basketball team do well and win. I highly doubt they're going to put those kids through something that is going to hinder them in their games. If you look up Coach Haddix's Facebook or Twitter, you can see he promotes the kid and shows videos of them getting extra shots up in the morning on game days.

To many individuals playing for themselves and no one willing to sacrifice for the team. Personally they are the biggest disappointments in the region and considering that players are still quitting and returning I don’t think they will get it fixed. Just my thoughts

Yep after that drubbing last night I think you're right.

The teams Boyle is playing are probably happy that they are following a training program like this.  All that it's doing is tiring them out and doesn't contribute a thing to making them better basketball players.  Not everyone is jealous of Boyle County athletics.

So making kids stronger, faster, and more athletic doesn't help with basketball.. noted.

  7. On days there are big basketball games the kids stretch and then shoot around while the rest of the team works out.

The kids have zero problems with it. Last year Boyle lost in the region on an off shooting night, and didn’t have many shooters as is. Year before they lost a PC team that lost region off a buzzer beater. Year before that they lost in the elite 8 at state. Doesn’t seem to be too big a problem.

  8. Week 8:
Not every team in the Region got to play this week, but there were some games that were played. We will recap those, look at who’s playing this week, and look at leading scorers from each team.

    1. North Oldham (16-2)
The Mustangs just keep winning. This time over a solid CAL team, they won by 16. They host Doss on Tuesday, before hosting South Oldham on Friday. Then finish the week up with Beechwood at home on Saturday. North Oldham is wasting no time getting their legs back under them from the light week from last week. North Oldham is led on the year by Grant Neal (21.3), Jack Fischer (13.0), and Ryan Howard (11.8).

    2. Woodford County (13-3)
Woodford didn’t play this week but have a huge game tomorrow as they host Oldham County. They finish the week up with Collins on Friday. WoFo is led on the year by Santonio Waide (18.0), Layton Starks (13.3), and Omari Jointer (10.2). Can’t help but wonder how good this team would’ve been had Jasper Johnson stayed.

    3. South Oldham (9-6)
The Dragons had one game last week and won it in convincing fashion over Owen County by a score of 90-62. South Oldham is back in action on Tuesday as they travel to Trimble County, and then Friday as they travel to North Oldham in a big time matchup. South Oldham is led by a balanced effort on the year by Julian Miles (16.1), Christian Veirs (15.3), Jake Fithian (13.5), and William Burnside (11.1).

    4. Oldham County (14-5)
Oldham Co won their only game of the week over Anderson by 20 points. They have a huge game tomorrow as they travel to Woodford and look to knock them off. They finish the week up with Shelby County on Friday at home, then host Central on Saturday. The Colonels are led on the year by Max Green who is scoring 31.9 per game shooting 51% from the field, 43% from 3, and 84% from the line. What a year!

    5. Spencer County (10-8)
Spencer didn’t let the snow affect them as they went 2-0 on the week with a 37 point win over Bullitt Central and a 12 point win over Grant County. The Bears kick the week off tomorrow with Collins at home, and then host Anderson County on Friday. Spencer is led on the year by Luke Erhardt (21.1), Camden Cox (15.4), Keaton Baird (12.2) and Jack Armstrong (9.9).

    6. Walton-Verona (14-6)
The Bearcats faced a 12 point setback to Covington Catholic at home in their only game they played this week. That’s now two straight losses, and they look to get back to their winning ways as they play in the All A State Tournament this week. They kick off action Thursday at 1:00 against Augusta at The Corbin Arena. WV is led on the year by Aaron Gutman (21.0), Julian Dixon (15.5), and Zach Smith (12.6).

    7. Gallatin County (12-5)
Gallatin went 1-0 on the week with a 42 point win over Eminence. They host Henry County on Tuesday, then travel to Simon Kenton on Friday. The Wildcats are led on the year by Matthew Griffin (18.2), Kellen Dossett (14.9), and Andrew Brinker (10.5).

    8. Shelby County (10-7)
The Rockets dropped their only game on the week in a game with Spencer where they lost by 12 on the road. Shelby is back in action this week as they take on Tates Creek at home on Tuesday, before traveling to Oldham County on Friday. Shelby is led on the year by Dillon Ritchey (17.9), Michael Jones (16.4), and Dallas Mercer (10.8).

    9. Simon Kenton (7-11)
The Pioneers made the most out of their week by going 2-0. They beat Williamstown by 30 and Henry County by 27. Both of these games snapped a 3 game losing streak. SK is back in action this week on Tuesday as they travel to Conner and Friday as they host Gallatin County. Simon Kenton is led on the year by Travis Krohman (13.4) and Jay Bilton (11.2).

    10. Anderson County (12-7)
Anderson had a tough week going 0-2 with a 6 point loss to Bethlehem and a 20 point loss to Oldham County. It was tough to drop them out of the 10 slot however, with Williamstown getting beat by 30 and the Bearcats just beating Collins by 12 nine days ago. Anderson looks to get back in the win column as they travel to Rockcastle tomorrow before traveling to Spencer County on Friday. The Bearcats are led on the year by Carson Sutherland (14.8) and Treyton Hart (9.2).

    Best of the Rest:

    11. Williamstown (11-4)

    12. Collins (8-9)

    13. Owen County (9-8)

    14. Grant County (9-9)

    15. Carroll County (4-10)

    16. Henry County (10-10)

    17. Trimble County (3-14)

    18. Eminence (3-12)

  9. Week 8:
While snow covered most of the state this week, it also knocked out every game that the 13th region was scheduled to play. With a lot of these teams being in the mountains, that makes for terrible back roads and driving conditions for a bus. So with that being said, I’m not going to have any movement within the rankings. Instead, we will look at who is on the schedule this week, and the leading scorers for each team as most KHSAA games have their stats now posted. Here’s to better weather and more games being played!

    1. Harlan County (18-2)
The Black Bears have a busy week this week as they play Harlan tomorrow at home, and then Bell Tuesday at home in big back to back district games. They finish up the week with Middlesboro on Friday in another district matchup. Trent Noah and Maddox Huff are pacing HC on the season with 29.4 and 17.6 points per game respectively. Maddox Huff just received an offer from EKU.

    2. Corbin (10-4)
Corbin also didn’t play any games this week but their district games have been rescheduled. For this week, they play Berea tomorrow in the Hometown Bank Classic, Williamsburg on the road Tuesday, and wrap up the week with Whitley County at home on Friday. A big week for the Redhounds in terms of district seeding. Corbin is led by a balanced scoring attack of Eli Pietrowski (13.5), Zander Curry (12.1), Trey Worley (10.4), Carter Stewart (9.2), Connor Middleton (9.1),  and Ryder Adkins (8.2).

    3. South Laurel (10-5)
The Cardinals needed this time off probably more than anybody in hopes that Jordan Mabe is back ASAP. For this week, we are looking at South hosting Whitley at home in a big time district matchup. A loss here would likely knock South out of being able to fight back for the top seed. The Cardinals will wrap the week up against cross town rival North Laurel on Friday. South Laurel is led in scoring on the year by Jordan Mabe (17.9) and Colton Rawlings (16.2).

    4. Bell County (16-2)
The Bobcats have a big week ahead of them for district seeding purposes. They host Middlesboro tomorrow, and then go to Harlan County on Tuesday. If they have any hopes of snagging the one seed, they’re going to have to pull the upset on Tuesday. They finish up the week playing Ryle in Knightstown IN the Hoosier Gym. Bell is led on the year by Cameron Hall (19.7), Blake Burnett (18.2), and Ethan Buell (13.9).

    5. North Laurel (6-10)
The Jaguars have two big games this week as they travel to Clay County on Thursday in a rematch of a district game, then they play South Laurel at home on Friday in the crosstown rivalry game. If they can win both of these games, it should jumpstart them to finishing out the year strong. North is led on the year by Reece Davidson (16.0), Brody Brock (14.8), and Jordan Rawlings (11.1).

    6. Clay County (9-7)
Clay has a difficult week ahead as they host Pulaski County on Tuesday, and then North Laurel on Thursday. They go to Rockcastle on Friday to play in the Rocket Classic as they find their opponent out on a later date. Clay is being led in scoring on the year by Hayden Harris (14.9), Jerrod Roark (11.6), and Elijah Bundy (11.5). Stability is what this Clay team needs.

    7. Knox Central (12-5)
Knox is the first team so far that doesn’t have district games this week. Knox will play Southwestern at home tomorrow, and then Bourbon County at home on Thursday. They will also go to the Rocket Classic on Friday and they will open up play with the host Rockcastle. The Panthers are led on the year by Gavin Chadwell (20.5 and 16.1), Grayson Burton (14.8), and Austin Bargo (12.3).

    8. Williamsburg (10-8)
Williamsburg was coming off a flaming hot week so let's hope the snow and the time off didn’t cool them down. The Yellow Jackets will go to Jackson City tomorrow before hosting Corbin on Tuesday. Thursday, Williamsburg will begin the All A State Tournament being hosted at The Arena in Corbin against Murray at 6:30. The Burg is being led by Henry Bowling (16.7) and Andrew Smith (16.6).

    9. Whitley County (13-3)
Whitley has a big week for district seeding as they travel to South Laurel on Tuesday, and then go to Corbin on Friday. They also finish the week by hosting Cordia on Saturday. The Colonels can shoot back up the rankings if they can go out and win both district games, but they have their work cut out for them. The Colonels are being led on the year by Evan Ellis (16.4) and Danny Ellis (12.2).

    10. Harlan (4-10)
Harlan only has one game this week but it’s a big one as they go to Harlan County. They managed to play them close last year, but have lost a lot of talent from last year's squad. The Green Dragons are led by Kyler McLendon who is scoring 29 per game, and Trenton Cole who is right at 11.5 per game.

    Best of the Rest:

    11. Pineville (10-5)

    12. Jackson County (6-8)

    13. OBI (8-7)

    14. Middlesboro (6-8)

    15. Barbourville (5-12)

    16. Lynn Camp (3-11)

    17. Red Bird (1-8)
