North Oldham trailed the entire game by 20+. They were never in the game. North Oldham started fouling with 2 minutes to go after MoCo put in their JV. Other than that the foul count was even.

Robertson Co according to the KHSAA RPI system is Ranked 73rd in the State and 5th in the 10th region. Their strength of schedule is horrible; their OWP (Opponents' Winning Percentage) is 38% and their OOWP (Opponents' Opponents' Winning Percentage) is 49%. That’s basically playing losing teams! Again, that doesn’t seem like a team made up of 5 All Region Caliber players. This is what we know; Robertson’s Head Coach was responsible for counting the coaches votes. Robertson Co ends up with the most players voted of all teams in the 10th Region. What we don’t know is who validates the counting of the votes? Does another 10th Region Coach check the counts for accuracy? If that’s the case then the 10th Region Coaches probably need to put a little more effort into their voting. Otherwise, the 10th Region Teams selection holds no value!

How does one explain a team that has 5 All Region caliber players according to the “Coaches” votes not also be considered the TOP team in the Region? One has to think how has such a team even been beat within the Region. No other team in the Region with that much talent according to the the “Coaches” votes. I’m calling BS!!!

Out beside each I put how many players each team got on an All Region team or honorable mention. Wow! From this All Region list you would expect Robertson Co (5 All Region players) to not only be the top team in the region but one of the top teams in the state ! I agree looks like Robertson Co who’s Coach is the President of the 10th Region Coaches Association and responsible for counting the votes may have gotten a little greedy!

Montgomery had everyone for this game. A technical late swung the score and momentum.

Montgomery was without two starters Harrison (16.9ppg) and Eichenberger (9.6ppg).

They were still missing Benton (waiting to be ruled eligible) and one other starter (out with the flu).

I’m always intrigued when I hear someone say a middle schooler or freshman should be included amongst the Top Players for a region over other upperclassmen. So this caught my attention to say the least! Knowing nothing about the Reed kid I went off and looked at who they (Augusta) played last season. To no surprise their schedule was atrocious as well as their record! Their opponents overall records were losing records. Their in-state overall record for opponents was 289 to 414. Thats 12 to 17 for the average! So, you mentioned him having regional success yet they played none of the top teams in the Region. Robertson Co being their best opponent on their schedule. I strongly believe to be considered one of the best you have to play against the best. That just wasn’t the case for Reed last season. While his overall stats look nice for a 7th grader you still have to consider who those stats were against. Averaging 12ppg against lesser teams is not the same as averaging 12ppg against the better teams. His stats against the better teams on their schedule were much much less than his average and therefore nothing to suggest he is one of the top players in the 10th. There’s a lot of talent in the 10th and some players stats are less because they play for better teams with more balance around them and they play much better competition. With all that said, I’m sure the Reed kid is a nice player and will be on the list at some point in his career given he continues to improve and the team he plays for now actually plays some of the better teams in the region.

Dang! 16 as a freshman before school started. That explains a lot, just saying! If that’s true will he be eligible his senior year?

I would probably swap Bourbon and GRC based off what Bourbon did in the summer. Both played in KBC’s Summer tournament which Bourbon won. I would also probably swap Montgomery and Campbell. With the addition of a few new players and returning players and possibly one of the best backcourt with Harrison and Eichenberger. They could be dangerous come tournament time. Needless to say the 40th district will be interesting.
