  1. You can listen to any Newport Wildcat game at Rupp on (859) Sports Radio.  Could be interesting matchup if Newport wins a couple of games and gets a rematch with Trinity, which is Newport's last loss 76-71 before Santa came down the chimney.  I keep thinking about 2019, our first week on the air when Walton-Verona picked us to be their radio and the Bearcats were upset by Campbell County who went on to almost pull out the upset over Trinity in the Semi's as the Camels missed a shot at the buzzer to win,  Trinity went on to beat Scott County for the Sweet 16 championship.

  2. You can watch all of the action in the 33rd district tournament free on (859) Sports Radio starting Monday with #5 Heritage Academy and #4 Conner.  The winner of this game plays Wednesday at 6:00 PM against #1 Cooper and after that game, #3 Boone County plays #2 Ryle at 7:45.  Don't forget Conner lost 3 district games by a total of 6 points and Ben Fay for Conner is back.  Cooper, Boone ad Ryle are 3 of the top 6 in the 9th Region.  Cooper has had their entire roster the last 2 games for the first time all season.  This district is going to be a battle every possession.

  4. Big game in the 33rd as the Boone Co Rebels try to shock everyone but themselves by taking the #1 seed in the District tournament with already wins over Ryle and Conner.  Cooper has a loss to Ryle on their schedule and would like nothing more than to take that #1 seed away from Boone.  This is a very important game as the 2 seed will have a very tough time with the 3 seed no matter who it is.  One X factor going into District play for Cooper is they should have sharp shooter Andy Johnson back by the end of this month.  Going to change the dynamic of the entire regional tournament.  You can watch this game on (859) Sports Radio.

  5. Going to be a fun game to watch and more fun to call when Lloyd Memorial visits Cooper on Wednesday 1/17 and you can watch it live on (859) Sports Radio.  Cooper will be trying to get things worked out after the surprising loss at Ryle Friday and before the upcoming seeding game for #1 in the 33rd on Friday with Boone County.  Lloyd has rattled off 8 straight wins and come in 5-0 in the 9th.

  6. Biggest game of the year so far in girls basketball as arguably the biggest rivalry in NKY squares off tonight at 8:00 as Cooper visits Ryle.  The Lady Raiders are coming off a 71-47 loss to the #1 team in the state Sacred Heart and Cooper coming off a 44-34 very un Jag like win over Campbell Co.  Throw out the record books and the top 10 rankings in this one, it's going to be a battle.  You can watch it on (859) Sports Radio at 8:00!

  7. It's never too early to start talking about Highlands visiting Newport for a huge 36th district game.  Last year's districts finals was a record broadcast for us at (859) Sports Radio.  Highlands may be a little bit more undermanned this season, but I know Kevin Listerman and he will have those kids ready.  Newport will want to make a huge statement to the 9th, especially after the early loss to CCH that this is their region to lose.  You can watch this game on (859) Sports Radio Friday at 7:30 with Mark Wehry and Bert Richey on the call.

  8. I was thinking the other day about how quickly social media can explode when something big happens.  Thousands and thousands of opinions ranging from obscurity/anonymity to people we all know and trust.  I then thought how we all had to wait for the newspaper the next day to read reactions and that was only from a chose few writers and people we know who were there.  So I thought I would start a conversation about things we all experienced pre-social media that would have brought the internet to it's knees.  The first one I thought of was the year I fell in love with HS basketball when my soon to be Holy Cross Indians had one of the state favorites on the ropes down 14 with 3 minutes to go in the semi's of the districts, only to have the Bulldogs rip my heart out.  I then went to Freedom Hall for the state finals and rooted for those same Holmes Bulldogs.  Charles Hurt, after the original Laettner Shot to send the game to OT, then went on to put his hand through the net to stop a would be Holmes bucket and Shelby Co was later crowned State Champs.  What say you?  What else makes the list of viral boys basketball moments?

    GO JAGS!!!!

Thank you my man @FrankNicodemus!! The wedding was spectacular and was getting updates during the rehearsal LOL.  What a Friday of football.  Only to be topped by my daughter being happier than anyone on those winning teams.  That being said, she was as interested in the results as I was.  She's the total package.   Hope we can paint the picture from everyone.  My camera dried out and works, but is audio only for the Cooper game.  Go Jags!  Going to be a show.
