  1. I was inspired by the concession stand thread to start this. I always love to eat at the city where we play at, but the problem is I never know what’s open and what is close by.

So if my school is coming to play against your team. What’s the best restaurant to go to on Friday night.

I’ll start Graves County/Mayfield has two legit BBQ places.

A&B BBQ is right near both stadiums, but you better get there a little early or call ahead because they will sell out. It is in my opinion the best bbq around and some nights they’ll have ribeyes that are incredible.

If you prefer to dine at a bigger and very nice building or if your group is larger, then Hoskins BBQ about 5 minutes from the stadiums is what you want. It has more options than A&B and it’s still very good.

Can’t go wrong with either choice.

Seems as though there aren't any dominant running backs, at least not numberswise so far.  There are some good numbers but nothing that jumps out at you.

I really think McKee takes off. The second half of the schedule due to district games is very soft, this of course doesn't count Owensboro. He has the opportunity to rack up a ton in the other 5 games.

  3. Grayson comes into the game 2-2.

Wins over Edmonson and McLean counties. They had a covid forfeit week 2 and then lost last week to Butler in a close one with the final being 18-22.

Graves comes into the game 3-1.

They have won 3 straight over Paducah, McCracken, and then in a nail biter against Bullit East when they missed a FG for the win. The only loss comes back in week 1 against Mayfield.

I know little about Grayson, but Graves has an explosive offense. They are averaging over 400 yards a game. They are lead by one of the best rbs in the state in Clint McKee and have found their knack in the passing game with Sophomore Drake DeFreitas who is throwing over 250 yards per game with his main receiver being Mason Grant and transfer Marcus Isaiah.

Just based on scores I say my Eagles walk away with this one. Any insight on Grayson? What’s everyone’s prediction?

Pleased with the effort & fight...just have to start making a few more plays & limit the mistakes...it’s that simple.  Again, congrats to Graves Co on a hard fought win.  They made the plays when they needed to & came away on top.  I was most impressed with #1 for Graves; solid player.  I really believe BE has a good chance to rattle off 5 wins in a row & head into the last 2 games of the year at 7-1.  We shall see.

He’s the transfer I mentioned about. Tonight was his coming out party. We got three guys who are just very good athletes. Grant didn’t have his best game offensively but the two other big athletes did. However, in the defensive side of the ball Grant played incredible. Team player! Can’t do what you usually do then make it up somewhere else. The pick 6 might’ve been the difference.

Graves lost to Owensboro 28-21 in the 2nd round last year and gave up a kickoff return for a TD to open the 3rd quarter.  Then had the ball in the redzone at the end of the game and couldn't punch it in.

That is accurate. For some reason I was thinking it was 21-14 when we couldn't punch it in, and then they scored again. But you are correct. Owensboro also scooped and score on a fumble at about midfield that game.

You have to believe Graves goes for two there if they score to try and pull off the upset.

I wish I knew more about this Graves Co team. Is this interest based on their 1st three game results, or their potential? I am not familiar w them at all.

We have a history of upsetting very good teams in both football and basketball. We are usually a very disciplined team, hard nose players, that end up running into better athletes. This year we have those better athletes.  We’ve been In Owensboro’s shadow for awhile, but played them in a respectable 28-14 loss last year in District Championship. We had it in redzone down 7 with about 5 minutes to go and couldn’t punch it in.

We lost 4/5 of lineman but kept basically every athlete besides qb. Losing that much on offense we were kinda written off. Our offense however has gone off over the last three games. Sophomore qb does enough to get the job done and the line has been fine.

I imagine Owensboro is still the favorite, but I’d also like to think they have something to worry about.

The field itself at Bullitt East is actually, fairly good for a grass field.  Now, the surroundings facilities such as the fieldhouse, home and away seating, etc. are lacking to say the least.

Our fan base and parents generally travel pretty well. Will there be enough seating or should we be prepared to be standing and might we want to bring lawn chairs?

I know this sounds crazy, but I feel like this week will be the toughest challenge for Graves County yet this season...even tougher than Mayfield.  This is a Friday night game, not Saturday and they'll be traveling 200+ miles to play it.  That is going to be tough.  It would be on anyone.  I think the run game will be tough sledding for Graves County this week and they'll have to rely on the pass.  If they win and that is definite a possibility, I would agree they're top 10 in 5A and probably around 6 or 7.  It's just setting up to be a trap game for them with coming off back-to-back big wins and then having to travel 200+ miles/3 hours after going to school all day to play a game.  Much respect to them if they can roll out of Mt. Washington with a win.  Will you be at the game?

I am going to try and make it. It’s going to be tough getting off work and playing in EST time zone for me. May have to use a vacation day.

  9. Graves had some hiccups week 1 versus Mayfield. Turnovers and Special Teams is why they lost and why they almost lost to Paducah. I have said all year this is the most athletic team we have had since maybe 2014. Our offense is equally balanced and the sophomore QB does a fine job and is getting better every game. The radio said after the game he was like 17-21 with 250 yards. This was the first game all season our opponent didn’t start every drive across or near the 50.

R1 is right though, McCracken gave up after we went up three scores. They just laid down. Things aren’t looking too good next week either as they play Mayfield. Looking at their schedule it’s going to be a long year for the Mustangs. I also think it says something about Bowling Green.

I agree we need to discuss what is going on in Paducah.

Many kids left McCracken to go to Paducah a few years back in the middle school program. Think it revolves around someone with some money who didn’t get their way and took his kid and spring traveling team he was funding to Paducah.

If you connect the dots it’s not too hard to figure out who.
