  1. Mustangs played tough and earned hard fought victory. NCC struggles continue - the fan base is not happy. Personnel choices are questionable at best at this point for NCC. One of Bred’s best -Howard sat entire 2nd half as they struggle to score 58 points. Iles and Mueller also sat a lot. Don’t know circumstances but all kids looked healthy.
  2. Also saw that Mullikin add 15 points - in very limited duty due to fouls. That is pretty impressive given the reduced minutes and going against Sisson inside.
  3. I enjoyed watching HHS Ben Sisson attack with force and power while NCC countered with the quick and crafty Eli Howard. It was a fun game.
  4. The game was physical but not to the point of 56 fouls .... Sisson definitely played through a lot of contact but 56 fouls is a ton. Breds are JR driven team but young in the sense that besides Jefferson - no one has played more than 18 Varsity games (all this season). I thought this game on the Birds floor went the way you would expect / the experienced home team grinding out a victory. But make no mistake - this Breds team is projecting upwards - they have made huge strides in recent weeks. The district tourney will be a good one. I also would not call this year a ‘weak region’. I actually think there are more competitive teams but it lacks a true clear state contender.
  5. Game was entertaining but you are correct - many touch fouls that mostly did not need to be called.
  6. Really good game minus the fact that NCC had 4 players (3 starters)foul out and another with 4. Free throw shooting for both teams was poor. Highlands played tough and Sisson was a beast. Also had timely 3’s in 3rd quarter when NCC went zone. Highlands had trouble stopping Howard who had around 25 - he was impressive tonight inside and out. This district is going to be fun.
  7. Just spoke to an NCC dad - Saturday is 4:30
  8. Also - I have been to a handful of NCC games - Watching Ben Glaser play (all heart) is worth price of admission / and all these teams have ‘that kid’ on their respective teams
  9. The final 4 especially has all region talent everywhere: New: Harding, Maguire, Miller, White, NCC:Mullikin, Howard, Jefferson, StH:Vieth, Westerbeck, HC: Knochelman and Wahl ... plus others I am missing for sure.
  10. Excellent write up for this tourney. The semi’s should be pretty intense - especially the battle of Newport between the Wildcats and Breds. Interesting matchups between the 2 teams across the board Srs vs Jrs. All 4 of these teams have quite a few talented and skilled kids even though they fly under the radar for most part in NKY.
  11. Great comeback win for Wildcats. Great environment as well.
  12. Harding attacks rim and is fouled. Harding will shoot 2. Harding makes first and has the lead. Misses the second but Newport wins 53-52.
  13. Bieger misses - Newport rebounds. Draud fouls with 3.5 remaining - Newport not in bonus. Timeout by Newport with the ball. Beechwood scoreless last 3 and a half minutes.
  14. Bieger miss - offensive rebound Beechwood. 30 sec left
  15. 52-52 all. 1:02 left - Tigers timeout with the ball. Newport's 9-0 run is in last 2:55.
  16. 1:36 left. Davis misses first one. Davis makes the second - all tied up.
  17. Beechwood with another turnover. Davis for Newport at the line.
  18. Beechwood turnover. Harding with put back. 52-51 Tigers - Newport 8-0 run.
  19. Timeout Beechwood with the ball - 2:53 left.
  20. Harding another and one as Baugh picks up foul. 52-49 Tigers. Newport 6-0 run.
  21. Maguire out of the timeout hits a three. 52-46 Beechwood.
  22. Draud hits a 3 after Miller misses in transition. 52-43 Beechwood. Things getting a bit heated.
