Looking at the yds/play stat obviously shows that they won. Won by 50 points? I wouldn't think so. 200 yards doesn't equal 50 points more often than not.

Thanks for posting, colonel-fan. Interesting to see the breakdown. HHS with 69 plays to SC 51. HHS 337 yds to SC 564. HHS 244 passing to SC 154. HHS 133 rushing to SC 410. Looking at these numbers makes you think the game was closer than the score indicated...and what it looked like on the field.

For the state? Coming into that game I believe we were 8. I'd drop that to maybe 12-13? Hard to say with the trouncing by a much larger school ranked that high in the state.

Tough to say, honestly. With SC being a 6A ranked that high (top 5 for sure) coupled with the injuries.... :shrug: They definitely shouldn't be 3. That I know for sure.

I walk from my house to Highlands for the games. It's only about 3/4 of a mile, but there's no way I get closer parking.

One team committed more infractions than the other...a lot more. Here are the penalty stats: Highlands - 0 penalties - 0 yards SC - 1 penalty - 15 yards The only call was made with less than 2 minutes remaining in the game and it was a face mask that couldn't be ignored...

The thing about Lex Cath that scares me is that they have a sophomore QB that started the last 6 games of last year and threw for over 1200 yards and they return an 1100 yard rusher at RB. They were trash at the beginning of last season going 1-5, but they ended better than we did with a decent run. Can we win? Sure, I think we CAN win that one, but I felt like I had to give up the Ryle or Lex Cath game.

HHS has has some down years, while others have had some progress. There's something about having the worst teams in 50+ years back to back that will bring you into reality pretty quickly. That doesn't mean that I'm not going to be a rabid fan that shows up an hour early to games and stops by practice when I can. It just means my expectations are different than those of 7 years ago.

Honestly, the turnovers killed us, as did that call on the onside where Steiden stripped the ball and they called the player down when he was up/no whistle/still moving forward. We weren't able to generate any turn overs of our own like we did in the first two games of the season. The running game for us was not going to work...even with Cooper Schwalbach. He didn't lose yardage, but he was only getting 1-3 per carry. We needed to open it up early and hit some downfield passes - which we did not, partly because we didn't call many of those plays and partly because when we did, the passes were missed. There's no one, and I mean NO ONE, that is going to sit here and say that should have been a two score game. SC has some incredible talent, and to claim that we belonged in the same stadium as them is a disservice to SC.

Ha. Fair enough. It's nothing to hang a hat on...we still got beat, but I think it shows we are better than we played last night. SC certainly seems to be an elite team in KY (currently ranked #2 in the state behind Trinity, I believe). EDIT: Also, I'm new here. Who are you referencing and where's the thread so I can laugh?

We're you there? The score ended way worse than the actual game woul have indicated. SC is NOT St X good.

I'll agree with SK. Ryle I think will be a game....if we have Schwalbach back. If not, it will be 21 point loss due to no running game and turnovers.

Just a quick reminder: We played X relatively close for being a #1 team in Ohio. Am I saying that SC would smoke X? No, I'm not. What I am saying, is that last it's pretty early in the season to be condemning teams over scores. We got thumped, yes. But we will be back next week.

I mean, we sure as hell aren't satisfied with the worst two highlands teams we have seen in 50+ years......back to back. This year remains to be seen, but the days of "We didn't win state so we are going to riot" are over. And every current fan of this team is aware of that.

As for the "where are the juniors" question: Cramer Schwalbach (who should start over Wilson) Armstrong (huge game last week) Trent Johnson Austin King Starkey Salmon I mean there are Juniors making plays

I'll blatantly disagree here. The offensive play calling is horrible. The defensive scheme is begging for your offense to need to score 50 to win.

I can agree with you there. What I'm trying to get at is these juniors that played JV last year as sophomores went 8-2 and both losses were by a single score. Add the exceptionally strong sophomore class this year and we will do well next year. This year is for improvements. Calling 7 total wins.

I'm saying a lack of seniors is a problem. If you really think a full year of Varsity experience won't make a monumental difference, you've lost me. And I agree. Mason Schwalbach will be an absolute stud. Also Bryson Huddleston will be back sometime in October (soph), and he will without question also be a stud. Give these kids one more year and they will be a force to be reckoned with. Just not this year.
