  1. Get a a good cpa, that's the best I can tell you. You may need a tax attorney, but i would try the CPA first. I have been thru this before, it sucks. I still fight with Campbell county every year. They send me a tax bill for " estimated taxes for earnings in Campbell county" every year along with the penalties, and interest. I haven't done any business in Campbell county since 2013. Lol

  2. In the history of sports and in the history of BGP there is often an indirect correlation between the amount of complaining a parent does and his/her child's playing time.

I will agree with this Clyde. I will also say in the history of youth sports there is a "direct correlation" of playing time when the coach has a child, or relative, or freinds son on the team.

  3. Where was all this criticism of Coach Schrand last year? He had his sons on the team last year and they did pretty well. Yeah, I get it, Nolan is not Leighton nor should he be but could it possibly be that HC is just not as good with the loss of the seniors they had on the team last year? I said it at the beginning of the year that this team lost a tremendous amount with Bezold, Jabukowski, and L. Schrand being seniors and quite possibly the team might be in a "re-building" year which just about every team goes through it at some point. Playing or not playing Nolan as much I do not believe changes the fact that they just might not be as good as the previous two teams. Holy Cross will be fine but it just might be "one of those years". I think Coach Schrand knows what he's doing with "his" program and I have no dog in the fight but some of the things I have read in previous HC posts are pretty eye-opening and pretty personal if you ask me, which of course nobody is, but knowing coach a little bit from being one of those "AAU Coaches" that just happened to coach the older Schrand, Bezold, and Jabukowski and help to make them better, Holy Cross will get it figured out. Ease up a little and support your coach.

Trust me the critism was there last year when he kept playing Nolan. It just didn't make it here.

  4. I have never seen where any one said that Nolan Schrand is the problem. It had been stated that he is not the best player on the team, therefore why does he get more minutes than anyone else? And just because you can shoot the ball, well, there is more to the game than that. If anyone says the reason this team is losing is because of Nolan Schrand, their blaming the wrong Schrand.

  5. The whole AAU Coach critique always seems to bring about a lot of complaints from parents about high school coaches. The AAU Coach says this player is capable of doing this, this, and this. That the coach should be doing it this way, etc. Then parents agree with the AAU Coach and so the high school Coach must be the reason so and so kid is not doing as well as they do in AAU basketball.

I have always found the AAU thing interesting because there is a lot of AAU coaches who aren't very good at all, but yet act like since they Coach AAU they are very good coaches. It's like the whole youth sports thing in all sports. Youth coaches win championships with certain players in youth, but when those same players don't win championships in high school it's the coaches fault. Even though it doesn't matter to them that they now play better competition, other teams players have gotten bigger as they matured, etc and some players just not being as good as people had thought. In some cases it could be poor coaching, but in a lot of cases it's not. It's just the whole youth sports, AAU coach perspective causing bad opinions to get formed in people's heads.

And this has what to do with my response to 23 fan?

But you do make valid points. I'll go one step further and say this: just because you coach AAU or HIGH SCHOOL bball doesn't mean your a good coach. I've said it for a while now- half the AAU coaches are horrible. And half the school coaches are horrible also.

My sons AAU coach telling him after a game that he; didn't run as fast as he could have in transition, shot flat, didn't box out every play, didn't close out with both hands up, or didn't go strong to the basket are things that give me bad opinions of the school coach?

  6. It's like this every game no matter the outcome, complaints about the coach and certain players

No matter the outcome? Except for 2 games, the "OUTCOME" had been the same!

And in this thread nobody has mentioned any certain players. Coaches yes.

As for your comments about the fans, PARENTS make up most of the fan base on away games so your calling all these players parents pathetic? That is totally uncalled for. I can see them cheering from across the court so your remarks are unwarranted and false. I know a couple of those parents real well and I'm sure they would like to know who you are about right now.

  7. Bengal maniac- you stated that you haven't seen HC at all. You are correct that coaching didn't cause unforced turnovers. But then you say coaching wasnt a negative factor in this game. Who gets put on the floor with the other players and when is coaching. This game to someone who hasn't seen HC yet would probably not see what the rest of us have been watching all season. It was a less than usual so not as bad. I'm not going to repeat it, you can look in other threads ( games).

  8. So what's wrong is the coaching staff right?? They dribble off their feet and fire the ball out of bounds but the kids are all unstoppable on their AAU teams I'm sure? I give up

Who are you talking to? I responded to your post about the crowd being pathetic and your idea that us parents are sitting at home making excuses and that we should be telling them to look in the mirror and figure it out. All I can do is try and make my son a better player and try and get him to play like most know he can.

  9. The crowd was pathetic, the ones that are there are on their phones, probably complaining on this site, they don't cheer at all, what happened to rooting on ur team no matter what? The kids look as if they don't care either. I think all they hear is excuses at home for why they are struggling instead of telling them to look in the mirror and figure it out

So the whole Holy Cross crowd is pathetic? You need a reality check. I was sitting with a group of parents (including myself) and we may not be crazy loud or obnoxious but we cheer our team on. Guy next to me was sending out updates of the game on his phone. And my son gets critiqued by me, his AAU coach and sometimes another coach after every game. He knows what he needs to do. He also is smart enough to see what's wrong.

  10. HC will struggle to win games if they can't get anybody in double figures outside of a Soph.

They struggle because almost every thing they do is designed to get a shooter a good open look instead of trying to get the ball inside first, which could get a bucket or collapse the defense to the middle which would open up the shooter any way. This team doesn't pass the ball well enough or fast enough to get open looks on the perimeter. COACH THE KIDS YOU HAVE AND WHAT THEY CAN DO BEST, NOT WHAT YOU WANT THEM TO BE AND WHAT THEY CAN'T DO. that is what makes a great coach, being able to coach what you have and be competitive.

  11. As a fan of the original version of " Tennessee Whiskey", I think Chris Stapleton does a great job with his version, changing it enough from the origional version to make it sound like a different song. Most of today's county music fans don't even realize that Stapleton's version is not the original. That being said, this guy Changes it just a little more to make it sound even more like a " pop song" instead of a country song. Don't like it at all because I am an old school country music fan.

But I will say guy is good! Sounds better than half of the these clowns they sign today...

  12. I say this every time a person or group commits an act of terrorism; IF SOMEONE WANTS TO KILL SOMEONE OR GROUP OF PEOPLE, THEY WILL DO IT ONE WAY OR ANOTHER AND LAWS WON'T STOP IT FROM HAPPENING!

The only thing that can stop it is if someone finds out their plan and stops it in advance.

In this case, if he did not have ammo with him, he could have went few minutes down the road purchased ammo , came back thru an UNSECURED area of the airport and did the same thing! If this is what he was on a mission to do, not having the ammo with him would not have stopped him! Only changed the timing.

  13. If those 5 seniors played together last night it would have been a 50 pt game and CCH didn't play well

I would have to disagree on that totally. Not saying they would have won, but they have definitely faced better competition and prevailed. Of course there were other players as well. One thing is for sure, they couldn't be successful trying to run the offense that HC does..
