The HC got there late because he was hired late. Another thing to consider is that the physical plant was not ready for football practice when Newport finally had a coaching staff in place. There were multiple areas of the campus under construction. The new field was being installed. The track lanes were being painted. Several times they had to practice on the baseball field, this, after the coaches painted impromptu yard lines themselves. There was no coaches office near the field where staff could meet. The coaching staff is working hard to solve problems. Not going to happen overnight.

It was miserable, but I've been to worse. Was good to see the Newport kids at least score against BW. Hope that buoyed them up. It's been a tough season for them so far.

Could you consider that the Newport coaches are doing all they can do to teach/coach the sport of football, respect academic rules, and deal with behavioral issues, just to field a team? Give the coaches n the players a break!

I know Tim Viox. He's dedicated, hard-working and smart. Hopefully, he'll have enough time to get organized, get to know the kids/their skills, and be ready for the first game.
