  1. Can't agree with LBJ being quicker that MJ...bigger and stronger for sure and more of an "athletic freak" of nature no doubt.

With that said, MJ's athleticism or raw basketball skill isn't what made many people think him the GOAT. MJ had a burning desire to both beat his opponent AND an equally hot burning desire to NOT lose. He had quite possibly the fiercest competitive desire ever, and it's something the LBJ has shown he just can't match, IMO anyway.

Back in the day Jordan would CRUSH James now, Jordan is in his 50's. I couldn't see him stopping LBJ but I couldn't see LBJ stopping Jordan if his shot is on.

MJ never in his life faced a player like LBJ. MJ would lose.

  2. The emergence of soccer over the years hasn't helped matters. Especially youth soccer coming along.

This next reason is going to sound really dumb to most. Almost blasphemy, but Lincoln County hasn't been the same since the Middle school came along back in the mid 90's.

Lincoln has several small communities in the county which is very spread out, all of which to this day still have elementary schools. Stanford, Hustonville, Highlands (serves the area known as Halls Gap), Waynesburg, McKinney and Crab Orchard. There use to be two others, Kings Mountain and Broughtontown, but both of those shut their doors in the Mid to late 90s I believe.

Before Lincoln County Middle School came along, all of those schools were K-8 and all of those schools had football (except for maybe Broughtontown, I think they joined in with Crab Orchard). Those schools made up what was Little League Football in Lincoln County. Each had a 1st/2nd, 3rd/4th, 5th/6th and 7th/8th grade teams.

So, essentially, Lincoln County HS had 6 or middle school trams pumping into the mix. All of the 7th/8th graders scattered amongst these communities had an opportunity to play. Because of that, you had freshmen classes who were up in the high 20s to mid 30's year in year out. Why? They were playing.

Along comes LCMS and now you have one team instead of those 6 or so. Not to mention, the travel for parents.

Some will read this and roll their eyes as an excuse, but to those who have been Lincoln County Football fans over the years, they know how real it is.

History supports the theory, too. It's been 20 years since the Middle school was built. There have only been two teams since who have had senior classes that came through the MS. The 99 team (00 graduating class) and the 07 team.

Lincoln County HS was formed in 1975. Everybody knows the how things were in in the 80s up through about 95 (when the MS came along).

Travis Leffew loves the program. If anybody can get them back anything close to the glory days, it's him.

I don't have a large understanding of the history of Lincoln County but from what I do know this all makes a lot of sense.

  3. True but refs were so inconsistent in starting and stopping the count, it sucked the way it was.

Yeah but now without the count there is no real incentive to play high pressure defense. You'll just wear yourself out for no reason. Looking at the rules they are definitely trying to spike the offense.

  4. MJ is best player ever and it's not close. Magic in his prime might be second. I take both of them of LeBron every time.

LBJ would beat Magic and I could see him beating MJ as well. The gap is not as large as people want to believe. Hell, the gap between MJ and Kobe is not that large either. One-on-one I'd put my money on LBJ over everyone.

  5. John Wall apologists are saying he was throwing up 2 Bs for Bradley Beal who just scored. Wall also seemed to say, "BB up in this (expletive)". While that may be true Wall has a long and extensive history of throwing up what is perceived to be gang signs during games. A guy I follow on Twitter from NC(CuffsTheLegend) mentioned Wall throwing up gang signs and spoke on Wall needing to be smarter. It's interesting to see the reaction on Twitter.

Colin Cowherd and Doug Gottlieb both spoke about it on their shows.

  6. Hakeem and Duncan don't have the handles to get the ball to the post with Lebron. Kobe has enough size to battle on the post some and can get hot from the perimeter.

Last pic I saw of MJ, he wouldn't be able to guard me for too long.

All they would need to do is back him down into a comfortable spot and both players are offensively skilled enough to score on LBJ within 15 feet.

  7. I could see that, given MJ's makeup. I wonder if Vegas would put in a prop bet on it 20-1 that MJ trash-talks LBJ to the point where he gets frustrated and takes a swing at him? Couldn't you guys see Mike pulling out every horrible trick he's ever done mentally to his opponents and teammates over the years and laying all that on LeBron? The thought of them going mano-y-mano now is very fascinating.

And we all know that 52 year old MJ truly believes he can beat Lebron today too. I can see him on a golf course right now breaking down the whole game to his caddy.

  8. LBJ may be more athletic in the paint but there is no way he could guard AI on the perimeter. Iverson would get to the rim at will or shoot uncontested j's with LBJ backing off.

If Iverson gets the ball first in a game of make it/take it, LBJ is toast.

So if AI gets past Lebron you don't think Lebron would come from behind and block AI's shot the same way he has done hundreds of times in his NBA career? I love AI but I don't see him being able to handle Lebron who I think we all agree is a guy who has MJ's athleticism with Karl Malone's build. To beat Lebron you have to make him play on the post. No way AI beats him everytime in a game of make it/take it.

I could see Tim Duncan beating Lebron. Not many others though. Hakeem also.
