  1. I havent seen the facebook stuff, but can I gather correctly that this lady posted her opinion, and people disagreed with it? Thats pretty much all this is.

Second question, why the need to have this type of event in the first place?

People called the school and complained and harassed board members and administration over it. To the point that there was a story about it in the paper today. A large majority of people loudly agreed with the bigot/idiot that is Angela Allen until the whole story was finally able to be told.

Both Danville and Boyle County High Schools have baccalaureate services every year. Why? Don't know why. They just do it because they can.

  2. Also high school coaches (usually not the head coach, but a member of the staff) who want to get on AAU staffs just to make sure people aren't pulling at their kids too hard (read: I want to be on the staff of my star player's AAU team to keep all the people trying to recruit him to other high schools from doing so).

Nothing wrong with that at all and I don't blame them one bit. AAU could use more high school head coaches and assistant coaches involvement. Everyone benefits then.

  3. Those are all good points, though I would still say the odds are far better for baseball and football scholarships. But lets throw scholarships and college completely out of the window. Don't MLB have like 40 rounds of draft choices, get yourself a contract out of high school and even if you never play a game in the Show, you can make a pretty good living in the minors, travel and just play baseball for a living(Bull Durham). I love basketball too, not nearly as much as football, but more than baseball. Colleges and scouts will find you, just explore your options

    It's still not that easy.

  4. You might want to better research your comments about the abundance of baseball scholarship money.

I think people would be surprised at how hard it is and how good you have to be to get a full scholarship for baseball. You damn near have to turn down the MLB in order to get a full ride in baseball.

  5. There are some very good AAU coaches at the top tiers and the higher you go on the grade levels. I don't doubt that at all. I would imagine that the median high school basketball coach is much better than the median AAU coach (unless that AAU coach is a high school assistant or former high school coach, something like that).

Lots of people who don't know the game at all are in AAU and think that latching onto kids are going to get them a high school job. You can definitely look at some of them and tell that they didn't play themselves.

I'll add to this by saying there are also AAU coaches using AAU to further their coaching careers as well. As much as the college coaches come to watch the players there are also coaches hoping to be seen by college coaches as well.

  6. Wait, so the Colts violated the rule also when they had an intern take a gauge to the ball they intercepted? You mean that the only people who can measure the pressure in the balls are the game officials and anyone else who takes a gauge or needle to the ball during the game is in violation of the rule? The same rule that has Tom Brady suspended for 4 games? So the Colts violated the rule in order to prove the Patriots violated the rule?

    Hmmmmmmm.......methinks Brady won't miss a game.

  7. school basketball in June is ruining AAU. is there a petition somewhere I can sign against it?

Nobody is making kids play school basketball in June and nobody is making AAU teams not compete in June. Tell your favorite AAU team to host a tournament in June and make the kids choose which one is more important to them. AAU is good for one thing: exposure. If you aren't good enough to play D-1(which ironically is 99.8% of our KY kids) then AAU is a colossal waste of time and money. It's not about making the kids better individual players it's about being able to brag about which program spits out more top notch talent. AAU helps some talent achieve but overall it ruins the game of basketball and is the reason basketball sucks at all levels these days.

All the talking heads in basketball say we are headed to club basketball anyways. Jump start it and fire the first shot. Get the ball rolling and get club basketball on its way. :thumb:

  8. 1.) How do we know these were filmed by the same group? The first video has been going around the internet for a long time. I think someone just found the two videos and put them together.

With that said, Im certain you could find videos of white people open carrying being treated similar to the black guy and vice versa.

Also, open carrying a rifle is stupid.

Agreed that this would mean more if it were in the same city and same department.

Also, we don't know why police were responding. Did they get a call? What was the call?

    The call was:

"We've got a negro with a big gun walking around in public. Do you copy?"

  9. http://mweb.cbssports.com/nba/eye-on-basketball/25183315/five-things-to-know-about-the-nba-draft-combine-measurements

    2. On the other hand, do not freak out about Justise Winslow

Winslow got some publicity for the wrong reasons on Friday, as he came in at 6-foot-4.5 tall without shoes on. However, I would preach caution on that for a couple of simple reasons. First, basketball is played in shoes. Second, all players are measured/listed in shoes on the NBA level, where at 6-6 with a 6-10.5 wingspan Winslow will be more than fine. His standing reach at 8-8.5 is bigger than Jimmy Butler, Harrison Barnes, Gordon Hayward and Khris Middleton's, and is right on par with Michael Kidd-Gilchrist's according to DraftExpress.com's measurement database. This might limit his ability to play the small-ball 4 in the NBA, but then again Barnes does it just fine for Golden State. This shouldn't knock Winslow any higher or lower on an NBA team's draft board.

  10. I think the black population deserves to be represented. But wouldn't MLK or Thurgood Marshall or a few others make better cases ?

I've honestly never given any thought to putting anyone black on any money. MLK would get the nod but I'd much rather have Malcolm X.

The plan is to put a woman on the $20 bill and Harriet won the vote. She beat Eleanor Roosevelt and Rosa Parks if I am not mistaken.

  11. No, he played against something like 25 of the all time top 50 players though. And he completely dominated. Jordan in his prime is like nothing any of today's players have ever seen...literally.

And not a single one of those players has the physical makeup of Lebron James and how many of those 25 players did he match up against? He and Magic didn't guard each other. He never guarded Larry Bird. He never guarded Barkley. He never guarded Dr. J. Lebron James is already one of the top 5 players of all time and because of all the MJ love Lebron will never be allowed to ascend to the fictional title of GOAT. Mentally MJ kills Lebron but physically Lebron would give MJ problems in a one-on-one game.

  12. Took LBJ 1 year less than it did Jordan...

I don't like LBJ because all of the hype about him coming out of high school....I'm not saying he isn't good or great because he is and he will be one of the greats to ever play the game...

I'm assuming you all are LBJ fans?

I'm a Kobe guy. Love me some Russ too. I don't hate Lebron at all though. Physically he is the best player I have ever seen.

  13. Nah...I don't like him because people made him out to be GOD when he came out of high school...Mister can do it all...type player....

You mean like how people still make MJ out to be? Keep in mind this thread was started because 34% of the country think a fat, drunk and out of shape, 52 year old MJ can beat a 30 year old LBJ. :lol2: Who do folks really think is GOD?????

Lebron does do it all though......

  14. You all are just crazy if you think Jordan isn't good and wouldn't beat LBJ...

I'll take MJ in his prime over anyone. Go watch YouTube and refresh your memories. Jordan was unstoppable.

MJ never faced anyone like LBJ or Kobe ever in his career. I'm not just going to hand over a victory to MJ just because like the rest of Jordan fanboys are willing to do. :lol2:

  15. I think that back in the Day when Jordan was in his prime, he would beat LBJ...

I thought it was stupid when James first came out of high school and people were already saying he was better than Jordan...I think that he will NEVER be Jordan...the only thing that James has got that Jordan don't is that James got his first title faster than Jordan. that's it...

This is why I don't like LBJ...He was all hype coming out of high school, He's good/great, I agree but he's not God and people act/try to make him out to be God....That's why I do not like LBJ...

You don't like him because he legitimately threatens to take MJ's fictional GOAT tag. :lol2: :lol2:
