  1. I guess we will never know.... The Best want to play against the Best. No other league compares to the EYBL and to State otherwise is just absurd IMO.... Almost all of UKs team and the primary players on Dukes team played in the EYBL.

Are there talented teams in the other leagues? Yes... The top 4-5 teams in Adidas and UA can likely compete and win in the EYBL. Outside of those 4-5 the depth of talent is not as prevalent...

I have never said the EYBL wasn't the top league in AAU. What I am saying is that just because a kid plays for the Travelers doesn't make him the best player in his class. Just because a kid doesn't play for the Travelers doesn't mean he can't play in the EYBL. I get everyone goes hard for the organization that they are affiliated to but to act like some kids that don't play for the Travelers can't cut it or won't cut it isn't a correct opinion.

  2. Don't try to make more out of this situation right now. As Jack Lambert said"Time will tell". You can bet it won't be the same offense that Mason ran. Just be happy we have a change and whether it is Pardue or James calling the plays,we should be in good hands.

Different offense or same offense, different play calls?

  3. You don't have to take my word for it go to KHSAA and look up the stats for Smiths first tenure since he only had one OC which was Pardue you will find that they ran the ball somewhere between 35 to 40% of the time and passed 60 to 65% of the time Hatz and I looked it up last year and it was somewhere around 60% pass 40% run give or take a few either way. Boyle had a very balanced offense under Pardue the first time around.

Doesn't that center more around play calling and not the offense?

  4. Serge Ibaka:

HoopsHype - We talked to Serge Ibaka about Son of Congo and his tough season with the Thunder

Wanted to ask you about the Thunder season too. What has gone wrong with the team aside from injuries?

SI: What happened is very clear: Injuries. Injuries have removed us from contention. That was it. Look, there's many people, the fans and those outside the team that don't know what's up. You hear people say, "Hey, this guy is not playing well." People and fans don't know what happens inside the team. I'm going to tell you what's happened with me, for example... I've had a bad ankle all year long. Bad back all year long. It's not just that I got injured late in the season, which everybody knows about... I hurt my ankle with the National Team last summer and it's been bad all year long. I've been taking pills in order to play without pain. That's the kind of season it's been. And it's not just me. Many of my teammates have been through the same thing. It's been incredible. That was the whole problem.

So no changes needed. You just need to get healthy.

SI: If we're healthy, with this group, next year we are going to be very good. We just need to be healthy.

There's been rumors recently about Scott Brooks' job. He's already received endorsements from both Russell Westbrook and Kevin Durant. What's your take?

SI: Why are you going to fire him? What has he done? Injuries were not his fault. Why would he go? He has not done anything, he's not responsible for the injuries. He did his best with the team he had. Would other coach do better with a team with so many injuries? What could (Scott Brooks) possibly do about it? The team is with him. You can't blame him for what has happened.

  5. The EYBL is the best youth basketball league in the world, without question. Comparing other circuits/leagues to it is like comparing AA baseball to the major leagues.

Braxton wanted the challenge, even as a freshman. He has performed with consistent excellence in the EYBL from his first game on. Simply put, he's the only 2016 in KY who has consistently measured himself against the best and proven he belongs.

Carson Williams played well last year from what I understand, and I know he's injured right now. He seems to do very well, and has just been derailed a little bit by injuries.

Could other KY players compete and hold their own in the EYBL? Quite possibly, but that's just speculation at this point.

Just because a kid doesn't play for the Travelers doesn't mean that kid can't cut it in the EYBL.

  6.

I saw this one. I still think it has more to do with OKC not choosing him than Ollie refusing to leave. Even in this article it said Ollie is interested. In his position he can't come out and say he wants the job. He still has to recruit for UConn and that falls through if he says he wants to leave for OKC. If OKC calls he is going to listen.

  7. Out of those 3, Beverly is the only one that didn't run from the top League in the World. That alone gets him props in my book.... And who cares who the best team/player is?!?! They are all good! KY AAU basketball is at an all time high right now. Why don't we just celebrate that...

    :lol2:

Didn't run from the top league in the world? The EYBL is better than the NBA now? Never knew that. I need to hit KBA up this weekend. I can see NBA level games for a 30.00 weekend pass.

  8. Has anyone in the 2016 class performed better than Beverly against elite competition for 2-plus years? The answer is no.

Are there better players in KY in the 2016 class? Maybe, maybe not. But Braxton has performed much better and much more consistently on the biggest stage for the longest period of time, and that isn't arguable.

Based on production to this point, there is no debate.

Just because the Travelers were able to secure Braxton's services doesn't make Braxton the best player of the 2016 and Braxton is my second or third favorite 2016 player. If the Travelers were able to secure Eli Wright or Quentin Goodin's services there is no doubt in my mind that everything being said about Braxton right now would be being said about Q or Eli. And there's nothing wrong with that but let's be real at the same time.

  9. All I know is that he was introduced to the team as the new OC not a consultant. Why would he be introduced as the new OC if he was only being used as a consultant? And why would he be installing his offense if someone else was going to be the OC? All the OC's that I'he ever known have their own offense they don't use another coach's playbook to run their offense.

Isn't his offense the same one Coach Mason used?
