  1. The biggest asset to Rondo in LA is Kobe. Rondo and Kobe strike me as kindred spirits. Both probably think they are the smartest guy in the room. Both think through a basketball game at a high level. Both burn to win. The only question is can Byron Scott handle both Kobe AND Rondo?

After reading this, I am convinced that Rondo to the Knicks would be a dumpster fire.

Rondo anywhere is a dumpster fire. He could have saved the Mavericks season. Instead he ruined it.

  2. You must be more of a Jeremy Lin guy. Put Rondo with some bigger alphas like Kobe and Randle who compare to the personalities of Pierce and Garnett and you'll see him thrive. It might be all whatever to compare a young Randle to those guys, I'm just talking about him in terms of the attitude of being the big dog on the block.

Rondo and Lin can both fade away. The Lakers need to focus on the future of Jordan Clarkson. Rondo is a headache and he's done. Kobe is just about done. Bringing in Rondo does nothing but ruin any chance at Westbrook in 2017. No way Rondo is going to pay attention to anything Randle says.

  3. For my experiences KBA isn't any different than most basketball academies I have been to. Most have minimal parking and unless the events are held at a high school parking is going to be crappy. It would be nice if KBA was a bigger venue but I'd say they did the best they could. Maybe someone with deep pockets can build a bigger version of KBA in Lexington that can fully support and EYBL event. There's no law that says there only has to be one basketball academy in Lexington.

  4. Was going to go to a bar/restaurant to watch it but no one is showing it in Danville. That would mean me driving to Lexington to go to BDubs or something. By the time I round trip it to BDubs I'll have spent the 100 bucks it costs to watch it at home. I will be ordering the fight and throwing wings on the grill next Saturday and enjoying family, Derby and Mayweather/Pacquiao at my crib.

  5. Highlands was using the platoon system as long as I have been watching them in the playoffs. They have always had the numbers to be able to do that. At Boyle you play with what you have at the time and hope for the best concerning injuries. I do hope Robins can get some rest this year on defense in one sided games. When he is your best all around athlete you have to have him on the field in critical situations. As far as the Boyle teams in the early 2000's they would not only compete now, but would still be winning big time.

Boyle has the numbers also. It's not like there are only 40 kids playing football. I'd be shocked if there weren't enough kids to begin position development in the middle school years. You can't tell me that kids focusing on one position in middle school wouldn't be a tremendous benefit to the whole program in their high school years. Even the best programs may have an exceptional athlete or two that plays both ways but you're not going to convince me that playing 8 or more players both ways is a recipe for success come late November when you are playing teams that only play 2-4 players both ways. If they play that many.

Of course those 2000 teams would still be winning. They were superbly talented. When the natural talent and athleticism isn't walking through the hallways like it was then you can't or shouldn't expect that same kind of success if nothing changes.

  6. It very well could be but there are so many variables each year and anybody can lay an egg at any time, if platooning is the only way to go then how come Highlands hasn't won 20 straight state championships?? How come UK didn't go undefeated??? Oh yeah i know why, anybody can win on any given night! I think that if they can play defense without Josey Coach Smith will do that but if he thinks his best chances to win are with him out there then you will see him on defense.

Boyle County hasn't played at Highlands' level since 2003. IMO Boyle will not get back to the Highlands, Trinity, BG, St. X level without installing a platoon system. It's too hard to play and defeat teams that play at that level platooning their players. That's my whole point. And 3A this season and the next few years will be tougher than 4A was when Highlands came to 4A. Boyle would have a distinct advantage platooning players at the 3A level. I can't imagine many teams will be platooning at that level.

  7. Yes he did, and Duggins was one of the best linebackers in the state, but then again he was the BEST highschool QB I've ever seen play the game. Players like Jeff Duggins Come along once in a lifetime.

Exactly. Josey is an exceptional athlete and will likely be the best athlete in the school next year. At the same time Jeff Duggins was a freak but Jeff Duggins also played on teams that I think everyone would say were more talented teams than the ones taking the field this season.

  8. Chuck Smith and Boyle co. won five straight championships and a runner-up. He played his QB on defense in each of those years. Just think how good they could have been if he had known not to play the QB who was usually his best or one of his best players on defense.

Oh, so the Chuck Smith teams of 2014 and 2015 are as talented as those teams that won 5 straight championships?

  9. Nothing wrong with giving an opinion on a QB. I can't think of many teams that would risk playing a QB that much on D. Over a 140 plays in the LC game he played. I'm sorry but that fatigue can cause accuracy issues when throwing.

These days, in 2015, teams that continually play at a high level don't have their QB playing both ways. People seem to think that it is still 2000 and it isn't. The luxuries that Boyle County had in 2000 aren't present in 2015. Even in 2009, 2010 and 2011 when Boyle County last won and competed for state championships the QBs didn't all play both ways the same way Jose has to now for the team to succeed.

  10. This Boyle County fan actually agrees. I think limiting his playing on defense is vital especially during big games such as Lexington Catholic. With that said, the question becomes, who can replace him on defense?

I suggested it last season and you'd have thought I said Chuck Smith was the worst coach in Kentucky the way folks reacted. I'll never bring it up again.

  11. Dang Jack you are holding back. I will be down there in the fall and we have got to at least go at on a thread or two to getting the fan bases believing. Ali needed Frazier, Bird needed Magic, and LC needs Boyle. Looking forward to seeing the growth of JR. I still say keep him off Defense but I guess they may do that in 2015

Careful, Boyle fans get mad when you question whether or not kids should be playing both ways.

  12. I don't recall Pardue ever running the wishbone at Boyle and Mason loved it. Mason did use some of Pardue's formations but their schemes were different. IMO Pardue's offense is an entirely different animal when he has the personell to run it.besides if Pardue and Mason had the same offense then why would Pardue be installing his?

I don't know. That's why I asked. I wasn't sure at all. I'm a basketball guy. In my world in football you either score points or you don't and you either have the talent or you don't.
