  1. This is a potential time bomb for the city. Officer has not released his statement to Cincy police yet. He is exercising his 48 hour wait period before giving his statement.

    Some interesting facts about this one;

Officer fired 1 shot while unarmed suspect was still in the car.

Man had been charged more than 75 times in Hamilton county.

Only one drug and only one assault charge.

Pulled over for not having a front tag on the car.

Hands the cop a bottle of alcohol when asked for his license which had been suspended.

He was a wonderful father who was turning his life around. Family members estimated he fathered between 13 and 20 children. They lost count.

UC officers are not allowed to Tase people due to a law suit from 2011 when last guy that got tased died.

Family of man killed by police asks: 'Why?'

Family of man killed by police asks: 'Why?'

Plenty of information to see that the victim is now the suspect. His skin color doesn't matter in any of this either. Wanted to to make sure that was out there.

  2. He should have came to Cincy for the policemans funeral that was shot and killed. Another case of not fitting his agenda of dividing the races. Not one national media report of the officer getting shot by a black man. If he had pulled the trigger first he would have been crucified by the media.

You're a special kind of something ain't you? Keep waving that flag proudly to honor your heritage. You're doing a fine job. :thumb:

  3. Where is this loophole is documented? HS softball coaches who have summer travel teams are not permitted to be involved per the Dead Period guidelines. Ironically, there are several HS coaches whose daughters play on both their HS and travel teams, and still they are not permitted to be involved, but may at least sit in the stands to watch.

In 2013 Bullitt East self-reported a KHSAA violation pertaining to the Dead Period and AAU Basketball. Also, in 2012, when the Volleyball Nationals were held during the Dead Period, correspondence was submitted from KHSAA as a reminder of the guidelines for HS Coaches that are involved with Club Volleyball.

So, is this "loophole" an erroneous assumption on the part of AAU Basketball Coaches, or is there actually a written mandate from KHSAA stating such (I am sure the HS Softball Coaches would love to know the answer).

No clue but the head coach of Casey County is the head coach of Team Manimal. I guess we'll find out in the coming weeks of dead period if he coaches his Team Manimal team that has two players from his Casey County team playing on it.

  4. There should be a dead period...period. If a kid CHOOSES to play AAU, summer ball, that's on him/her and the family.

There is no doubt that some coaches, without the dead period would require their athletes to be practicing/conditioning/working out constantly. That in turn would make other coaches feel the need to do the same so their athletes don't get "left behind", even if they WANT their athletes to rest. It becomes a vicious cycle. That's why in that questionnaire 80% of the coaches actually agreed with a dead period.

And remember, I say this as a basketball coach that expects his kids to dedicate themselves and work hard. But I also know a never ending cycle of go-go-go can wear and burn a kid out too.

So how is playing AAU/travel ball helping out the situation you mention? Kids don't want to be left behind either so they still play, work out, condition, etc in the Dead Period. The Deap Period doesn't do anything you mention except keep high school coaches away from their athletes for 2 weeks. Instead they get alone time with their AAU coaches/handlers/advisors/etc. I'd much rather have kids with their high school coaches and teammates than their AAU outfit.

  5. Then they are in violation of the rules because according to the KHSAA coaches are to have no contact either in person or by electronic means during the dead period.

The AAU/traveling sports loophole allows it. If a head coach of a high school team is also a head coach of an AAU team he can have players from his high school team on his AAU team and the AAU team will practice and play in tournaments during the Dead Period.

  6. If there was no dead period you know as well as I do that there are coaches in this state that would continue "voluntary" workouts all summer long. They play lip service to saying that no one "has" to be there but you know as well as I do if you want to play you had better be there. It's just like everything else in sports, coaches have to be dragged kicking and screaming into making changes that benefit the players. Look at the draconian heat index rules we play under and the mandated concussion rules. You know as well as I do that if not for those rules there would still be coaches "toughening up" their teams by practicing in the hottest parts of the day or just looking at a kid and saying "she just got her bell rung" get back in there.

The Dead Period doesn't stop that. It doesn't stop any of that. There are so many high school coaches in AAU/traveling sports that they still see their athletes and work with them during the Dead Period anyways.

  7. The dead period is absolutely necessary, IMO. High school athletes shouldn't be expected to participate year-round. If they choose to do so with traveling or club teams, so be it. Kids/families shouldn't be punished because they want to enjoy a vacation together in the summer.

I know of kids who go on vacation during fall break in the middle of football season. Dead Period hasn't stopped them.

  8. So HS kids should have no time away, they shouldn't be able to take vacation, they shouldn't just get some decompression time? I couldn't disagree more. Even though KHSAA rules say that any workouts during the off season can't be mandatory anyone with any sense at all knows that's not the case. If not for the mandated dead period you know as well as I do that there would be coaches having "voluntary" practices all summer. The dead period MAKES the coaches let kids have time off.

But those kids aren't taking time off. I know kids who want to use the weightlifting equipment at the school but can't for 2 weeks. Those kids still find somewhere to lift weights at. I know kids who work on conditioning still during dead period but they can't at the school. That's backwards to me.

  9. Like I said the cop who pulled a gun has to go.

But if it's true it's a private pool and 70 people were suppose to be there. Cops had to respond .

From what I gathered it was a pool party someone was throwing and some had guest passes and others didn't and climbed the fence to get in. We'll never know who was supposed to be there and who wasn't and it complicates the whole story.

Only one person was arrested as a result of all of this.

I'd love to hear from the women who made the racial insults. We've at least gotten the other side of the story.
