Great win Cru. I'll bet you used to voice your opinions on sports talk shows and you immediately were disconnected.
Two years ago Coach Fogt was awarded the St Henry head coaching job. She was taking over a program that returned 2 juniors, 1 sophomore and 5 freshman. If you add those three together YOU DO NOT HAVE ENOUGH to field a team. Coach Fogt tried to get high school kids to play !!! None would play. She did what she had to do to field a team. Senior Noell Butts went on to become 9th region player of the year on a team that had 2 sometimes 3 middle school kids on the field. I don't think it would have been fair to take that away from Noell because " It is high school sports"
Last Year Coach Fogt faced a similar situation. She could not get any new underclassmen to come out for the team. 2 transfers were welcomed with open arms, 2 players were lost to graduation, The team had 1 senior and 2 others were lost to injury, once again there would not have been a St Henry Softball Lady Crusader Team if it weren't for the non high school kids parents who were not paying tuition at st Henry but at one of the diocesan approved feeder schools.
Now let's talk about this season, Since last June parents of The 2014 Fighting Lady Crusaders have been working bingos , donating their time, hard earned money and have exasperated their resources to generate funds for this weeks upcoming trip to play in Florida. It's amazing how a team going to Florida brings out new faces but now also deserve to play varsity ,not because of how they play the game but simply because their parents pay tuition at St Henry High instead of IHM.
For the first time in two plus years the Cru is not forced to have a middle school girl that starts for them. But the middle school girl that went two for three on Wednesday is an example of why the program has actually been able to field a team. Kaitlyn and all other girls who have busted their tails for years albeit if they were in middle or high school do not deserve your unjust criticism.
