Fitting the mold puts you in a good position to be recruited. This is why. We can look at the numbers of who gets offered. Around 1.5% of all HS seniors get a FBS FCS full ride. I bet that they are the kids in the 5% that have the chance to compete for the schorlships. Why they fit the mold the other 95% dosent. So you are really only competing with 5% of other HS seniors.

D1 looks for size or speed. It's easy for coache's to offer kids that fit the mold. even if there are better skilled numbers kids. Why? They look at what can be not what is. Can't teach height or speed. A kid can get stronger and bigger. A kid can't get taller. A fast kid can kid a bit faster. A slow kid will never be fast as the fast kid with all the traning in the world. It's what you were born with. God given.

I don't think a kid has to narrow down what sports he or she wants to play in HS. My son was a good HS football player D1 full ride schorlship. He also was a key member of the basketball team. The basketball coach new he had to wait until football was over to join the team. He had to miss much of the basketball off season workouts pick up games.

The statement SK has been a top team for 10 years is a joke.

Let's look at the 2003 SK season. Posted 1 win under Marksberry vs Owen county... This is his 4th year as head coach. 1 win.... 2011 2 wins.. Muti 6 or less seasons. This is not a top program.

SK never had a team as good as they were in 2008. Heck SK would have to win every game vs Dixe for 21 years in a row to get to .500.

How can you be on top for ten years. When every 6a school in NKY has a winning record vs SK in that time span? In fact ryle on a 10 year span has a 8 and 4 record vs SK.

In 2011 SK had a 2 win season. A few before that 6 win. A decade?? I don't think so.

I would like to add. That your not being recruited until you have an offer. your just a player of interest. Jr. days are filled with kids that never get offers. I bet out of 100+ kids maybe 10 have offers from the school.

Boys grow at diffent rates. the docs can tell. Pubrity level with height at that time. Gave my son a range of 6'4. He's pushing 6'6 now at 19. Big feet. Also. Son is a size 15. Standing reach is what makes a guy taller. My son at 6'5 has the standing reach of a 6'8 NBA guy. this is how we get the term long player. Kid might be 6'2 but have the standing reach of a much taller player.
