  1. It was a very good game. The defenses for both teams played well. Camels started running the ball with relative ease after Keller (linebacker) and Jackson (right corner back) came out of the game with injuries. Not to take anything away from the Camels. They saw the weakness and exploited it. Cooper's pass defense was good throughout the game. The Cooper offense didn't perform tonight. We couldn't get the running game going. Kudos to the Camel D line. Our passing game wasn't much better. Still, Cooper in my opinion is a good 5A team. No shame in tonight's game for Cooper. They played hard till the very end and until the Camels pushed across a TD toward the end of the 4th quarter this game was very much either team's to win.
  2. I was honestly surprised they didn't throw a dead ball flag on #15 for unsportsman like conduct.
  3. I was also standing on the cooper sideline when #15 body slammed Torey, pretty much right in front of where I was standing. He didn't just body slam him. He did it and intentionally came down on top of him hard. It was uncalled for. I too understand the frustration that Boone was probably experiencing. After the flag was thrown #15 kept his unsportsmanship conduct up by mouthing off at the Cooper sideline. After a number of comments which I did not hear what was specifically said by him Coach Borchers had enough and the only thing he said was "Keep talking 15. As the final seconds ticked off the clock Coach Borchers gathered his players and let them know in no uncertain terms he would not tolerate anything but good sportsmanship from them and to shake hands and to be good sports in their win. At no point did any of the coaching staff during this altercation use profane language.
  4. Campbell 30-17 over NCC Cooper 31-0 Over NCC Gotta go with my maroon n gold heart. Jags by 3.
  5. Cooper graduated the vast majority on last years team. This year's Cooper team starts mostly juniors and a few sophomores with a spattering of a few seniors. I don't know the exact numbers of each class though. Quite honestly, I fully expected this years team would be their rebuilding year. Needless to say through their first three games I am more than pleasantly surprised. But like others on the board the next challenge is Campbell Co. Win or lose next week, Cooper has already surpassed many folks on the board's expectations.
  6. Prickett NOT Pritchard lol. My apologies to Cooper's qb.
  7. I was once again on the sidelines for this game. I'm not gonna downplay Boone's game. Instead I'm going to praise Cooper. From the opening drive the Jags dominated this game. They owned the line of scrimmage both offensively and defensively. Pritchard spread his passes around to all sides of the field and to just about all of his receivers. Cooper's defensive ends did an awesome job of cutting off any chance of Boone from getting outside and the Jags db's were all over Boone's receivers. I may be wrong but I don't think Boone completed a pass for more than fifteen yards and they had maybe one or two of those. While Cooper's receivers ran wide open through Boone's defense. The one score that Boone managed was against a heavily substituted defense. Props to both Cooper's offense and defense on another well coached and well played game. 74-9 in their first three games ain't too shabby for an offense that some have claimed to be average at best.
  8. 50% chance of rain Friday night. Looks like we won't have to hose down the field this week.
  9. Some may not realize this but this Cooper Varsity is basically the same group of kids that in the 8th grade, went undefeated and walked away with the Super Bowl in the Northern Ky league or whatever it's called. As a JV team last year if I remember correctly they lost only two games, SK and Beechwood in a monsoon. In no way am I predicting or would be foolish to even think that as a varsity squad filled with mostly juniors and sophomores, this team would repeat that type of record on the field this year but don't underestimate these kids. They have a lot of spunk and spirit and to a kid they won't quit till the final second clicks off the clock. The biggest problem I've seen watching their practices and scrimmages is that the qb has tunnel vision. He has a tendency to throw the greatest percentage of his passes to his right side, regardless of who the receivers are or what the plays that are called. But then again.......I could be wrong
