Not sure, but if so, they along with the other two recruits that have verbal so far would be a great start to a top recruiting class. Would love to see these two Kentucky boys at X!

Yes, this is legitimate. Now that he has given his verbal, for clarity sake, here is a partial list of the schools that recruited him. Xavier, Louisville, Western KY, NKU, St. Louis, West VA, Clemson, Austin Peay, Oklahoma, Kent State, Toledo, & many more. X is one of the top programs in the country, is close to home, & did a great job of laying out the advantages of attending there. The other universities also offered wonderful options, but Dieonte felt like this was the best place for him. Looking forward to seeing him have a healthy successful season at Walton Verona this season & then moving on to the Muskies!

Jones looked good last night. His passes were all on target (stats would have been better without a few drops) and he made good decisions. Grubbs was all over the field and easily had double digit tackles. Dawson Catlett (sophomore) & Josh Walton (junior) had nice moments as well. WV is a little dinged up right now, but could be back to full strength in a couple of weeks.

Any results from play yesterday?

Walton-Verona beat Pickerington from Ohio by one. GRC lost to Pickerington by a lot. Scott County vs St. X from Cincinnati. Cov Cath beat Scott County by 5. Supposedly Dieonte Miles, Michael Moreno, and Kyle Rhode all received scholarship offers today from NKU.

GRC had a no-show for their 12 noon game so Walton played them the first half and Lexington Christian Academy played them the second half. Walton was up 3214 with about two minutes left in the first half and pulled their starters. I went to lunch after that. LCA beat Collins by 3 in the 1 p.m. game. Vale did not play for Collins. Scott County beat Walton by 12 in the 2 p.m. game.

Wednesday at NKU.

Several top teams from KY, OH, & IN will be participating including lots of good team & individual matchups. CovCath plays Collins at 10 am, Walton plays LCA at 11 am, Collins plays LCA at 1 pm, Walton plays Scott County at 2 pm, Scott County plays CovCath at 6 pm. Simon Kenton, Conner, GRC, St. X, Princeton, Pickerington, South Dearborn, New Cath & others will be participating as well. Should be an revealing day.

Agree about Miles. If he doesn't get hurt Walton would have been playing at Rupp. As far as Grubbs, you are mistaken. He has been playing high level AAU for years (excelling against very good competition) & would have started point last year if Stanley,, one of the best point guards in the state hadn't transferred. Instead, Grubbs started at the 2 and often was a primary ball-handler against pressure. He is not a high scoring guard, but is an excellent defender, distributor, and rebounder. If he can get 6 to 10 points a game, minimize turnovers, and provide solid defense, rebounding and the intangibles, such as his high motor and excellent leadership. If so, they will be fine. Also, Jones, Bonne, & Schrader can provide solid minutes at the one as well. Look for Jones and Bonne to have big years at 1, 2, & 3. Keep in mind that these guys have been playing together between 6 to 11 years against top competition. There is a comfort level and familiarity that exists as a result. While they may have been more talented last year, if they can stay healthy, they very well may be more successful this year since there will be very little adjustment to their roles.

Madison Central looked solid getting the win against Frederick Douglas. They did a god job of getting the ball to Cozart & he was very aggressive. MC won. Lexington Catholic had a really nice guard (Ithink a junior), & decent supporting cast, but not very athletic. They lost to WV the game I watched. Mason County & Mercer County both got beat pretty badly in the games zI watched, but to good teams. PRP looked good, athletic & deep in beating Mercer County. Tayes Creek looked very average in the game I watched, but I did not see the entire game. GRC has a nice team, with some atletic, highly ranked players ,(probably preseason top 15 in state), but Walton beat them by 14. WV was up 32-12 at the half & they were without a contibuting player. Not sure if GRC had everyone or not?
