I'm not a Newport guy...but they do have a nice team. If they can all stick around and develop the next 2-3 years at Newport will be exciting. As far as who they have played: Newport 80 Bellevue 31 Newport 73 Harlan County 58 This was a nice win for Newport. Harlan County is 21-5 and leading the 13th region at this point. Newport 71 Clinton Massie (OH) 56, don't know anything about Clinton Massie but a win is a win. Cooper just plays defense...Sullivan knows how to coach defense. Still a nice win for but I'm guessing Jakare Pouncy didn't play for Cooper but I hear he will be eligible for the 33rd district tournament play.

In my opinion the biggest game of the week. Conner (16-6) travels to Fort Thomas to take on Highlands (21-6) in what I think will be a high scoring game. Currently Conner is averaging 66.5 points per game while only giving up 58.5. Highlands is averaging 78.6 while giving up 64.5. Conner's fantastic four of Campbell, Hamilton, Kramer, and Lohr account for 87% of the offense. If Highlands can limit or stop one of these from their average there could be a cake party after the game for Highlands. Highlands has 4 (Herald, Vinson, Moeves, and Ryan) also scoring double figures a game with Benke close at 8.5 a game. I've read the past threads that Highlands defense is lacking sometimes but they always seem to step it up a little against Conner. Going back to 2017 Highlands is 7-1 verses Conner. Game will be live streaming on 859sportsradio and they do a fantastic job of play by play action. I'm staying home for this one and will be watching, I'll update the score at the end of each quarter for those who cannot watch it live. I picked this game up in the 2nd half thanks to the Holmes Athletics channel on YouTube. This is the kind of game I thought Conner would have after being off 10 days verses Mason County but looks like they saved it for Holmes. Not a very good shooting night for Conner any where on the court. This game was closer than most probably think it should have been but Coach Otte did pull some starters in the 4th and Conner did enough to get out of Covington with the win. Looking at Holmes record most would’ve thought this game would be over by halftime or at least by the end of the 3rd but watching Holmes play on their home court they had fight. Holmes was quick and just kept attacking. If the 3 was falling for Holmes this may have been an upset post but like Conner (at least n the second half I saw) they were nothing hitting much from 12 foot and out. Conner travels to Fort Thomas on Friday to take on Highlands. I’m assuming this game will be broadcasting via the Highlands Athletics channel on YouTube. I’m guessing this will be a packed house with a rowdy student section and band present.

Landen is tough. He attacked the rim in the 3rd quarter and got a couple and 1’s. Mason County had their hands full trying to stop Hamilton, Kramer, and Lohr.

It was a good night to be a guard for Conner. The 3 headed monster of Kramer, Hamilton, and Lohr had their way tonight. Huge game by Dalton Kramer, I'm not sure how many he ended with but I know if was over 20. Mason County was pounding the ball inside the 1st half but then went away from it and Conner pulled away in the 2nd. Daniel Campbell with a nice second half working the inside and making free throws. I know some of the Mason County fans may blame the refs, but Conner was very aggressive and got the calls. When Conner is hitting their outside shots, they are tough to beat. They all hit free throws and Coach Otte has his rotation down to 7 players. Big week coming up for the Cougars as they have Highlands next week in Ft. Thomas and then travel to Erlanger to visit Lloyd who is improving as the season is coming to a close.
