They could have posted as big or bigger a win Friday night at Lexingto Catholic except that their youth really showed up when LC applied the pressure in the second half and the officials let 'em play. You have to fight through those games if you are to have a true shot at making it to Rupp.

Well done, PP92. One of those years in which almost every district final seems predetermined. And then who wins or loses at that point is often a toss-up and possibly matters little in the greater scheme of things (re: the region draw and results).

No problem - you do a great job of keeping various threads updated and no one would expect you (or anyone else) to know everything about each team. In this case, more of a situation where one who sees them play often can see these things that wouldn't be obvious to those who can only go by the boxscores. Keep up the good work & thanks.

You're kidding, right? Steve Wright vs. Rodney Woods. Both have won multiple regional titles and both have bumped heads for a very long time. I guarantee you that game meant a GREAT DEAL to both coaches and teams. It wasn't just about the seed by any means. Every game they'll play the remainder of this season will be a war (and they could play twice more depending on what takes place in the region).

Good synopsis of the young Cardinal team. Blevins, Woods and Stearns do typically score the bulk of the points, but to overlook the contributions made by senior Dagan Shelton (grandson of former MHS great and head coach, Wade Upchurch) and junior Jason Perkins (son of former MHS star, Jeff Perkins) would be remiss. Both average just less than double-figures and are key to helping to set up their teammates. They definitely continue Coach Woods' dribble-drive offense either taking it to the basket or dishing it out and knocking down the threes. They will also pressure the opposition attempting to force them out of their offensive sets. Their starting five is far & away the smallest of the region's favorites and because of that they must be "on their game" 100% or they will fall short.

The Cards clinch the #1 see for their district . . . which admittedly doesn't mean a great deal since the region is so scrambled. However it is impressive that they've beaten SW twice. Who would have thunk it coming into the season?

Impressive first half by Jumpers. Impressive second half by Cardinals. Do think that catching the Cards just prior to their game against Southwestern (for #1 seed of that district).was fortuitous timing. With Wayne County's (second) win over Southwestern tonight (after also beating PC earlier) plus their loss to East Jessamine & Somerset it tells us all that it will be a crazy region.

Pulaski is the natural choice. They have three bona fide players and a ton of experience. Southwest hasn't played as well I thought they would, but will endanger other's chance in the Region. Wayne is the surprise as I didn't feel that they'd do this well this quickly (too young & inexperienced). Both E & W Jessamine are threats also. Bottom line seems to be that the Regional draw and matchups will have a lot to say about who might win. How two teams matchup against each matters and where one may excel against one team, they may struggle against another. I agree that it is wide open, but would lean towards favoring PC strictly due to experience. However, officiating will also play a part because the ability of some teams to make use of their defense will depend on what the out of region officials call/don't call.

That (PC having multiple players foul out) seems to be a reoccuring theme. Do you think it reflects their defensive style or that some of their players either gamble too much or perhaps get a little too rough?

Justin Edwards has a bum knee right now. Nothing permanent, but he didn't play against PC and will be out for a while. But you're right, he's key to them being as good as SW can be.
