45th District Tournament expectations:

 

 

The 45th District is easily the most competitive district in the 12th Region. Garrard County is expected to defeat KSD and in all reality Garrard County has as good of a chance to defeat Boyle County in their next game and advance to the 12th Region tournament as any team in the 45th District. Garrard has played Boyle to 6 point games in their two meetings this season and no one who has has followed both teams would be surprised if Garrard County defeated Boyle County.

 

Danville is the hottest team entering the tournament with wins over Boyle County and Lincoln County in their last few games. They control their own destiny. They are good enough to win the 45th District. It's on them if they follow through.

 

Lincoln County is still Lincoln County and under Coach Jackson's leadership Lincoln is prepared to make a run immediately but no one would be surprised if their season comes to an end on Wednesday night.

 

Boyle County enters the tournament on a 6 game losing streak. The tournament is on their home floor and one would think they are at an advantage. Their first game is no easy game despite being the #1 seed.

46th District Tournament expectations:

 

 

 

East Jessamine and West Jessamine split their regular season meetings. East Jessamine and Mercer County also split their regular season meetings. Mercer County very well could advance to the 12th Region tournament but to do so they will need to defeat East Jessamine on their home floor which should prove to be a tough task. Mercer is definitely capable and the matchup between East Jessamine and Mercer County should be a great game with someone's season on the line. East Jessamine is the favorite in this game but nothing is guaranteed. West Jessamine should easily get past Burgin but defeating the winner of East Jessamine/Mercer County could prove to be a tough task on East Jeassmine's floor. If East Jessamine defeats Mercer County then I expect East Jessamine to defeat West Jessamine in the championship game. If Mercer County defeats East Jessamine then I expect West Jessamine to defeat Mercer County in the championship game.

Somerset is 7-3 in their last 10 games. They also went 5-1 in district play.

 

Rockcastle County is 2-8 in their last 10 games. They went 2-4 in district and defeated Casey County twice.

I think the 12th Region tourney will be a lot of fun this year. I think 5 teams have a realistic shot at winning and another 3 are capable getting hot plus a favorable draw and who knows what may happen.

 

 

We could very well have Pulaski County vs. Southwestern in the first round of the region tournament.
